PB hotel design editorial

At Anse des Cayes, one of St. Barts' least trafficked bays on the island's rougher Atlantic-facing north shore, a loose village of grey-shingle-roofed bungalows steps down through palm groves toward a crescent of pale sand — an arrangement that has defined Hotel Manapany's character since the property first established itself here in the 1980s. The recent renovation, which brought Paris-based designer Chantal Peyrat into the project, kept faith with that low-rise, bungalow-in-the-tropics sensibility while injecting a deliberate jolt of Caribbean colour. The guestroom interiors now toggle between two registers: one running to cobalt four-poster frames against white-painted board-and-batten walls with striped red-and-navy bedding, the other warmer and more sensuous, with bamboo canopy beds draped in mosquito net, ochre and mustard stripe throws, and exposed roof trusses lacquered in a deep coral-orange. The property's centerpiece is a circular restaurant pavilion that projects almost to the waterline — its ring of floor-to-ceiling mahogany-framed French doors folding open to the sea breeze, the interior ceiling describing a shallow cone of white-painted timber panels lit from beneath by a continuous warm cove. Teak deck chairs line the pool terrace directly in front, the oval pool itself separated from the beach by a planted retaining edge, while the wider aerial view confirms the intelligence of the layout: thirty-two bungalow-style accommodations arranged to preserve sightlines through the palms to the Atlantic horizon beyond.

"Amazing hotel and staff We stayed at Manapany fit week of March and could not have enjoyed our stay more than we did. The location is great with beach access and parking. We had an ocean front room and it was delightful, especially the complimentary bottle of rum! Laura and her staff were engaging and responsive and took care of whatever we needed. We will certainly be back!!"

"My stay at **Hotel Manapany in St. Barthélemy** this past January was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, the experience set a new standard for luxury hospitality. The property itself is stunning — perfectly integrated into the natural beauty of St. Barths with breathtaking ocean views, beautifully designed spaces, and an atmosphere that somehow manages to feel both refined and completely relaxed at the same time. The rooms were exceptional. Ours was spacious, impeccably designed, and incredibly comfortable. Every detail felt thoughtfully considered — from the bedding and lighting to the layout and the seamless indoor-outdoor living that makes you feel connected to the island. Waking up each morning to the ocean breeze and the sound of the water was unforgettable. The pool and beach areas are some of the best on the island. The water is crystal clear, the lounge areas are perfectly spaced so it never feels crowded, and the service around the pool and beach is attentive without ever being intrusive. The entire property feels private and peaceful, which is exactly what you hope for when coming to St. Barths. The food and beverage program was also excellent. Breakfasts were fresh and beautifully presented, and dinners at the restaurant were consistently delicious with a great atmosphere in the evenings. The cocktails were fantastic as well — perfect after a day in the sun. What truly made the stay exceptional, however, was the **service**. The team at Manapany operates at a level that you rarely see, even at top luxury hotels. Everyone we encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely happy to help with anything we needed. A special mention must go to **the General Manager, Kader**, whose hospitality and leadership are clearly reflected throughout the entire property. Kader sets the tone for the experience — welcoming guests personally, making sure everything runs seamlessly, and ensuring that everyone feels truly taken care of. His presence elevates the hotel and creates an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and personal at the same time. It is rare to find a hotel where the setting, design, food, and service all come together so perfectly. Manapany absolutely delivers on every level. Whether you are traveling as a couple looking for a romantic escape or simply want to experience one of the most beautiful and well-run properties in St. Barths, this hotel is a fantastic choice. We left already planning our return, which is always the best sign of an unforgettable stay. I cannot recommend Hotel Manapany highly enough and want to thank Kader and the entire team for creating such a memorable experience."

"From the time we arrived until the time we left, we felt like we were the hotel’s most special guests. The staff were always available to answer our questions, to recommend places to visit and restaurants to enjoy; and to help us whenever we needed help. The location of the hotel, so close to the airport and to Gustavia was great. We loved the relaxed, casual atmosphere of the Hotel, and found the layout and setting perfect for our vacation - our room was right on the beach, and everything was within walking distance. The 2 lane adult lap pool was a huge plus for us, and we both enjoyed our spa massages tremendously. The breakfast buffet that was included with the room was more than adequate, and the view of the sea from the restaurant was magnificent. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel a couple of times; and appreciated the focus on traditional French dishes, and the excellent list of French wines. Additionally, we were treated to a sunset catamaran cruise with some of the hotel management, which was extra special. I want to especially thank the staff at Manapany for preventing the ongoing road construction outside the hotel from becoming a problem for us and other hotel guests. Communication was excellent, and the staff moved each of our rental cars when necessary, which made a huge difference. Thank you so much for everything - we hope to return to Hotel Manapany in the near future."
