PB hotel design editorial

Designed by architect Ernst Stenhammar and completed in 1910, the pale ochre building on Sveavägen that houses Miss Clara by Nobis began its life as a girls' school — the Clara School, from which the hotel takes its name. That institutional past gives the property an unusual structural generosity: tall arched windows, broad corridors, and ceiling heights that no developer building from scratch would sanction today. The Nobis Group, which also operates the nearby Nobis Hotel in a converted bank, converted the building into a 92-room hotel, with a zinc-clad mansard addition visible at the roofline giving the facade its quietly contemporary upper register. Inside, the interiors strike a balance between the building's early twentieth-century bones and a distinctly Nordic restraint. The lobby's checkerboard stone floor and amber glass pendant lights — suspended on exposed black cable runs in a manner that feels more atelier than hotel — set a tone that the guest rooms carry through consistently. Dark herringbone parquet floors, black-finished joinery, articulated wall-mounted reading lamps, and the original arched window reveals left clean and unadorned give each room the atmosphere of a considered Stockholm apartment rather than a hospitality product. The ground-floor restaurant, with its bentwood chairs, warm timber tables, and vaulted arched openings onto the street, draws the building's architecture directly into the dining experience.

"What an amazing hotel. We had a 2 room suite and it fit our needs perfectly. The staff was just so friendly, nice and extremely helpful. The front desk staff, from check in to check out and in between, went above and beyond for us. The breakfast buffet was delicious. It was so nice coming back from sightseeing on a very cold day and having a nice hot sauna. The only negative is the parking. You have to call and make a reservation to book a spot which we were not aware of."

"First of all, I have to give the biggest shoutout to Daniel and Diana! Our trio started off rough when I somehow left my backpack in the taxi with some super important items. Daniel and Diana did everything they could to help me figure out how to call the taxi company and put me at ease - then when I got it back they seemed so relieved which made you know they cared. Couldn’t have had better people trying to get me through a stressful time. They are the best and I knew my stay would be great if they were the first to greet you. As for the rooms, they’re a little quirky if you’re used to typical Marriott hotels. But it’s just a different experience and does the trick once you get used to it. You can ask for some extra amenities if you need it, and whoever is at the reception can help you quickly. The hotel is close enough to central station to walk but a little further from the old town, though still walkable. Breakfast is great! Has something for everyone and I strongly recommend you choose the breakfast with your stay. Overall, a solid stay with caring folks to make your stay pleasurable. I’m"

"We stayed at the Miss Clara Hotel in Stockholm for three fantastic nights while on vacation. Stockholm is a great city to explore, and the Miss Clara made it even better. The hotel is well-located, features stylish and comfortable rooms, and a very good restaurant where we enjoyed breakfast each morning before starting our busy days. The staff is fantastic - in particular thank you Amanda at the front desk for your suggestions and Ice in the restaurant for your warm hospitality! A great holiday made even better thanks to the Miss Clara!"
