PB hotel design editorial

Quai Wilson, the broad lakefront promenade running along Geneva's right bank, has always attracted a particular kind of institution — one that requires both discretion and a commanding view across Lac Léman toward Mont Blanc. The Hotel President Wilson, a Luxury Collection property set within a mid-century tower whose travertine-clad facade and deep-set curtain-wall glazing are visible in the pool terrace image, holds 228 rooms and suites in a building that carries the measured confidence of 1960s Swiss modernism, vertical fins of pale stone organizing the elevation into a rhythm that anchors the waterfront without overwhelming it. Inside, the interiors navigate several registers at once. Lake-facing rooms are furnished in a palette of warm taupe and charcoal — upholstered headboards in dark leather, textured silver-grey wallcovering, cherry-wood writing desks — the floor-to-ceiling glazing framing sailboats on the water as though the lake were a permanent installation. The Royal Suite pushes further into saturated territory, dusty-rose carpeting and floral wallpaper giving way to uninterrupted panoramic views that make the decorative confidence feel earned. The bar takes a different tonal approach entirely: deep walnut panelling washed in magenta uplighting, a Murano-style drum chandelier, and a large-format botanical mural anchoring a lounge corner. The private dining room, its mosaic gold floor and walnut wall panels lit from a coffered ceiling, carries a Levantine warmth unusual for Geneva.

Hotel President Wilson, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Geneva Reviews

"This is a very nice hotel on the lake. Every staff member that I interacted with was truly great. I do, however, need to give a shout out to a member of the bar staff: Daniel. Not only is he one of those people that anticipates your needs (as in almost psychic), but we’d mention an issue at the hotel in passing and he would immediately get it resolved. I doubt that Barman/Concierge is an official position at the hotel, but that seemed to be his role throughout our stay. I really cannot praise him enough. He really made our stay a memorable one."

"This is a beautiful hotel with a lovely view of the lake. Our room was comfortable and quiet, and the selection at the breakfast buffet was ample and varied. Concierge service was impeccable, with special thanks to Pedro and Dylan for their assistance."

"Despite the initial issue mentionaed below, following my feedback on the Marriott survey, the management was supportive and went out of their way to resolve everything to my full satisfaction. I would like to personally thank Mr Van Remoortel and Mr Dubray for their attention. I am certan that this constructive feedback will ensure these service issues do not happen again in the future. ---  As a frequent traveler and a loyal guest who stayed at this property just a month ago (and multiple times in the past), I am deeply disappointed by my recent experience at the Hotel President. For a 5-star luxury property under Marriott’s The Luxury Collection, the lack of coordination, basic manners, and professional management was simply unacceptable. I booked this hotel specifically for the pool, as I work during the week and wanted to relax due to the very hot weather. I arrived on Friday at 1:00 PM with a friend of mine. I was told my room would be ready at 3 PM but that the pool was fully available till 6 PM. However, when I went to the pool at 3 PM, I was abruptly told it was closed for a private event. I immediately complained at the reception, but nothing happened. No goodwill gesture, no message, no accountability until the following day, when I received an email from the Assistant Front Office Manager (I would have expected at least the General Manager or Guest Relations to handle this). In the email, he stated he was available to discuss the "inconvenience" but only until 4:00 PM, instructing me to come to the reception. In a luxury hotel, the staff adapts to the guest’s schedule, not the other way around. If a manager’s shift ends at 4 PM, a proper handover to a colleague must be guaranteed for guests returning later. Because I did not reply to this email, the Assistant Front Office Manager took it upon himself to interrupt my lunch at the pool on Saturday. Without asking for permission, he approached our table, delivering a scripted apology and offering to cover the cost of the lunch. While a complimentary lunch is the bare minimum in such a situation, interrupting a guest's private dining moment without authorization is a huge breach of etiquette. Later that evening, we returned to our room to find four macarons and a generic letter from the General Manager with a printed signature (!!!)—a completely impersonal and tone-deaf gesture. The letter vaguely mentioned they would "take care of things" for our room, which meant absolutely nothing. To top it all off, during checkout, the receptionist was completely clueless about the entire situation. We were asked the usual standard question, "How was your stay?", and handed the full bill without a single cent of discount or a real apology. This exact same pool issue happened to me a year ago at this property. It is clear that the President operates with a mid-range hotel mentality while charging luxury prices. Paying for amenities that are unavailable without prior notice is legally questionable."

"President Wilson has the lake, the location and the pedigree. The hospitality, however, seems to have checked in elsewhere. The lake views are beautiful and the location is undeniably convenient. Unfortunately, the experience felt more efficient than welcoming. Despite arriving at a hotel that appeared far from full, an early check-in request was politely sidestepped and the room was not ready. The allocated room, while marketed as a lake view, sat on a lower floor where the pool and trees competed successfully with the lake. Basic amenities such as dental and shaving kits were absent, while service remained impeccably polite but resolutely impersonal. Coming straight from the warmth and historic character of Schweizerhof Luzern made the contrast even sharper. Magnificent lake, prestigious address, forgettable hospitality."

"Hotel President Wilson embodies the standards of a true five‑star Geneva property: an exceptional waterfront setting, refined interiors and an atmosphere that balances discretion with warmth. I was at Hotel President Wilson in May 2026 for an international event held there. While I was in the sessions, the staff kindly kept an eye on my son, making sure he was comfortable and at ease, a thoughtful gesture that speaks volumes about the hotel’s culture of care. My sincere thanks go to the front desk team, and especially to Eniola, whose kindness and professionalism went far beyond what one might expect. We look forward to being back soon."
