"First of all the hotel food is excellent, the staff are very good and the rooms are clean and tidy although I wouldn’t say 5 star. What’s been a real disappointment leaving myself and my wife feeling ripped off and taken advantage of is the meal arrangements. We booked half board with inghams whom we’ve traveled with over many years and never had a problem. Until now. When we checked in we were told that if we chose to eat out any night we would be credited 20 CHF each but we had to let reception know before 10 am , fair enough. We decided to eat out one night and it was 11 am but the staff said no problem but in future let them know before 10am. We ate out which cost 170 CHF for what we would consider a pub meal so be warned it’s very expensive in Saas fee the 40 CHF credit went nowhere. A couple of nights later the top restaurant which we had eaten at previously where I must say the food is excellent was closed so we were directed down stairs to the del ponte restaurant into a private room which only had one other couple in whom were just leaving. We asked if we could sit in the main restaurant which had a nice atmosphere and was busy. I asked the waitress which menu we should use and she said any it’s fine. We didn’t want any thing fancy so we shared a starter , I had a burger and my wife Salmon and we shared a sweet. I asked the waiter if we would be down stairs the next day and he said we would as the top restaurant was closed again. I told him we would have the ala carte menu but on arrival he had us down for the normal menu. We didn’t want to make a fuss so again we had good pub food not the usual 5 courses we had been having upstairs. When we checked out this morning we were shocked to see that we had been charged nearly 200 CHF for eating in the same hotel not having a 5 course meal just good pub food. I raised the issue with a staff member who quite frankly didn’t want to know. To say we feel ripped off is an understatement and I would urge anyone to reconsider this hotel. It’s just not right that you have to pay more for a more basic meal (rather than the à la carte menu) that we have already paid for ! I would also be very wary if the waiters ask if you would like a limoncello at the end of the meal. These are not free as they seemed to appear to be offered. In all a very disappointing experience and end to our holiday which could have been avoided if they had explained that eating in the same hotel owned by the same family was classed as eating out in a different establishment."
