Among the grand Belle Époque palaces that line Zermatt's car-free Bahnhofstrasse, the Mont Cervin Palace has anchored the village centre since 1852, its pale stucco facade and mansard-inflected roofline rising above a sea of timber chalets like a piece of Geneva or Lausanne transplanted to the high Alps.
