"If you’re looking for a place where your jaw drops as often as your bank account, Riffelalp Resort 2222 is it. Perched high above Zermatt, this hotel feels like you’ve checked into a luxury postcard. The views of the Matterhorn are absolutely breathtaking, and being so far from town makes it peaceful, quiet, and perfect for unplugging. Just don’t expect to “run out for a quick snack”—your nearest convenience store is a mountain train ride away. The dining was every bit as fancy as you’d expect, and thankfully the food actually lived up to the price. Every meal was excellent, and the staff were outstanding—friendly, attentive, and happy to help with anything. The spa was another highlight and a perfect way to relax after a day in the mountains. My only complaint? No cold plunge. After sitting in the sauna, I was ready to channel my inner Viking, but had to settle for being mildly disappointed instead. Overall, if you’re willing to splurge for unforgettable views, outstanding service, and a truly unique mountain escape, Riffelalp Resort 2222 is worth every expensive Swiss franc… or at least that’s what I’ll keep telling myself when I check my credit card statement."

"Beautiful resort with great amenities. Secluded location, a quick train ride from Zermatt. We stayed in the Deluxe Suite and very satisfied with our experience. The resort is spotless, up in the mountain with just nature surrounding us. Great service, they will bend over backwards to make sure you have a good experience. Will definitely return!"

"We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would happily return. The hotel itself is beautiful, amazing views, comfortable, and in a great location, but what truly made our experience exceptional was the outstanding service. Everyone at the concierge and front desk was so gracious and welcoming. I wish I could remember everyone’s names. David at the front desk was incredibly helpful every time we needed assistance. The reservations team also made our stay much better by calling me before our arrival and accommodating my request to change our room category. The staff at the bar and restaurants were equally friendly and attentive. The porters at the little train and bell-stand. All super gracious. A very special thank you to Juan Carlos, who went above and beyond throughout our stay. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and he took care of every little detail with genuine kindness and professionalism. Juan Carlos made sure everything was perfect from the moment we arrived. When we unexpectedly needed a wheelchair at the last minute, he arranged everything and made sure it was waiting for us. He also remembered the little things, like the tea my daughter loved, and always greeted us with a warm smile. He even anticipated needs I hadn’t thought of myself, making our stay completely effortless. Those thoughtful touches made us feel genuinely welcome and cared for. We have stayed at many luxury hotels across Europe, and we know that what truly sets a hotel apart is its people. Juan Carlos is an exceptional concierge who made a real difference to our stay. "From the moment we arrived in Zermatt until the moment we left, the service at the Riffelalp Resort was extraordinary—easily on par with the finest hotels anywhere in the world. The experience began at the Zermatt train station, where staff met us, handled our luggage, and guided us to the Gornergrat cog railway. When we arrived at Riffelalp, we were greeted by the hotel's charming electric trolley for the short ride to the property. It was a seamless, effortless arrival and set the tone for everything that followed. The hotel itself is breathtaking. Outside are spectacular, unobstructed views of the Matterhorn and the surrounding Alps. Inside, the property is a masterpiece; beautifully designed, elegant, warm, and impeccably maintained. What truly sets the Riffelalp apart, however, is its people. Every member of the staff was welcoming, attentive, genuinely friendly, and seemed to anticipate our needs before we even asked. They thought of every detail and consistently went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The location is equally remarkable. Perched high in the mountains, the hotel offers incredible peace and tranquility while still making it easy to explore. We could take the train down to the charming village of Zermatt or continue up to Gornergrat for some of the most spectacular alpine scenery we've ever experienced. I also spent an afternoon in the spa and had the Alpa Ritual massage, which uses arnica oil made from flowers harvested in the Riffelalp meadows at 2,222 meters. It was one of the best spa treatments I've ever experienced. I only wish I could remember my therapist's name because she was exceptional. I expected to feel relaxed immediately afterward, but what surprised me was that I continued to feel better as the day went on. The relief and sense of well-being actually seemed to build over the following hours - Amazing! Our stay at the Riffelalp was unforgettable. If you're looking for world-class service in one of the most beautiful settings on earth, I can't recommend this hotel highly enough."
