PB hotel design editorial

Fourteen years in development and positioned as the first Luxury Collection property in Taiwan, THE AMNIS arrived in Kaohsiung's Asia New Bay Area in December 2025 with an ambition that went well beyond brand flag-planting. The 29-floor tower, conceived by YUIMOM Group around a 'monumental minimalism' ethos, holds just 147 rooms across its upper floors, with six to ten keys per level — a density closer to a private residence than a conventional hotel. The exterior reads as a composed exercise in vertical rhythm: load-bearing fins and a curtain-wall glass spine that glows amber at dusk, the upper floors catching and doubling the last light over the city. Inside, the material palette is specific and deliberately sourced: North American timber panelling runs through the guest rooms in broad, pale-grained sheets, grounded by Angora Grey marble in the bathrooms, and every room is five-layer soundproofed to a degree you feel rather than hear. The interiors have a calm that the images reinforce — light oak furniture, blue-upholstered accent chairs with views toward the harbour, a round side table in turned pale wood. What lifts the property beyond a well-executed luxury tower is its partnership with The ALIEN Art Centre, Kaohsiung's contemporary art museum, which curated all the artistic content throughout the hotel — including the circular floral canvases visible in the guest rooms. The dramatic restaurant below, with its lacquered red service counter and glowing lunar ceiling disc, signals an interior confidence that the quieter guest floors balance rather than echo.
