PB hotel design editorial

Perched on the rocky southern headland above Nai Harn Bay — one of Phuket's few remaining beaches insulated from mass development by the surrounding land holdings of a Buddhist temple — The Nai Harn has commanded this particular stretch of the Andaman Sea since the property first opened in the 1980s as the Royal Meridien Yacht Club Hotel. The site itself does most of the architectural work: a terraced hillside dropping to a sheltered bay dotted with sailing yachts, framed by jungle-covered limestone promontories on either side. Following a comprehensive repositioning and renovation completed around 2015, the hotel's 130 rooms were reoriented around a cleaner, more contemporary identity, with interiors that layer warm-toned hardwood flooring, vertical timber wall panelling, rattan occasional pieces, and pops of mustard yellow against a ground of pale grey and white — a palette calibrated for the tropics without tipping into the overwrought resort-craft common to the region. The outdoor spaces are where the property's character becomes most legible. A sculptural pool bar area at the cliff's edge deploys bold circular concrete seating platforms trimmed in white upholstery with amethyst cushions, floating over shallow water channels — an arrangement with more than a passing debt to the theatrical poolscape vocabulary popularised across Southeast Asia in the early 2000s. The dining terrace, laid with distressed timber tables and curved-back chairs in dark-stained wood, opens directly over the bay, positioning sunset at sailboat height every evening.

"We stayed in the Nai Harn recently for four nights after two weeks exploring Vietnam (amazing experience).... and it was the perfect ending to the holiday of a lifetime.  Everything from the location over looking the beautiful Nai Harn beach, to our spacious Ocean View suite with gorgeous views, the most comfortable bed ever, free standing bath, complimentary fruit bowl and daily refill of mini fridge with beer, juice, and soft drinks. The breakfast was outstanding, and the staff at every level are just so professional and friendly..... and thank you to Doong, the hotel manager who leads by example in customer service with a personal touch and smile. There are four restaurants but we ate in Cosmo and Rock Salt only both excellent.... we particularly loved Rock Salt for its location and I had the most amazing red prawns curry there too! Food and drink are on the expensive side but worth it. It was also a privilege to attend the monks merit ceremony organised by the hotel on Friday morning to give thanks and offerings with the local monks..... a grounding experience. There is a reserved area on the beach for hotel guests but it has deck chairs rather than beds that we personally prefer..... but we just used an area further down the beach and hired beds for small fee. An incredible experience from start to finish that we will remember for a long time. Thank you ❤️"

"I would like to sincerely thank Pimpre at the reception desk. She helped us book the hotel, followed through on all of our requests, and then personally messaged us to explain everything clearly. Employees like her create the kind of impression that makes you want to come back again. Thank you, dear Pimpre, for your care, attention, and genuine willingness to help. The hotel itself is wonderful, but when you are treated with such warmth and kindness, it makes the stay truly special and makes you want to return again."

"We stayed four nights at The Nai Harn, Phuket on March 15-19, 2026. We were grateful that the hotel assigned us Room 707, which is a high floor premium room we requested. The view was absolutely beautiful. However, when we took a nap on the early afternoon on March 17, we were waken up by very loud noises right from the ceiling as result of direct upstairs renovation construction at room 807. We waited for more than an hour for the noise to stop, but it did not and we called the reception. The reception then apologized and told us that they asked the renovation team to stop the work. Despite their apology and promise not to continue the renovation work, the renovation construction continued the next day! The hotel was clearly and visibly not full. As one of the Leading Hotels of the World, why would the hotel have assigned this room to us if they had planned renovation of a room right on top of our room during the course of our stay? And knowing we were staying at our room, why would the hotel have proceeded with the renovation construction any way, why would the hotel have not warned us of the renovation beforehand or offered any compensation for the clear breach of our quite enjoyment? The hotel did later offer a room change, but the offer was made only after our complaint, and the room they offered was on a lower floor in the same room category, which did not fit our early request for a high floor room. What the hotel did does not seem to satisfy the high bar of the Leading Hotels of the World. That said, we were very grateful for the hotel's room cleaning service and the hospitality provided by the staff at the hotel's restaurants."

"I had a great stay at a hotel that I think ticks all the boxes. I would like to thank all the staff for being so welcoming. I used the beach butler service a lot during my visit. This friendly team was always on hand to set up a mat and beach towel for sunbathing and also offered seating in the shade."

"We stayed here for the second part of the holiday. Loved the place. Room was not available at 12 when we arrived and so did the check in formalities and waited in the bar with a complementary drink, while the room was getting readied. It was worth the wait. We were high up with a great view over the bay. The room was well set up and we had some sparkling wine waiting for our arrival. The deck are of the room was very nice and we spent most of our time here since the beach was crowded, there were jelly fish and the seating area on the beach reserved for Nai Harn guest was very small and were all taken quite quickly. However the outside relaxing lounger bed was perfect. They even had a putting mat!! The pool area was ok but there were people smoking and so we didn't go there much. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice although some items were not replenished quickly and this was about the only negative for breakfast. We ate out for dinner and so can't comment on the dinner options. Having some drinks and snacks at the outside bar with live music in the evening was nice. All staff were excellent and helpful. Overall thoroughly recommend this place. Yes, it is a long way away from the main area of Patong and about 1.5-2 hours to the airport in peak traffic, but very much worth it."
