PB hotel design editorial

Grace Bay Beach on Providenciales has long held a claim to being among the finest stretches of sand in the Atlantic basin — powder-white, reef-protected, the water an improbable sequence of turquoise gradients that no photograph quite captures accurately. Grace Bay Club, which established itself along this shore in 1993, made an early and deliberate architectural choice to resist the monolithic resort block in favor of a low-rise villa compound whose single- and two-story structures step back from the beach line in a manner closer to a private residential enclave than a conventional hotel. The massing, visible from the aerial shot, keeps pace with the surrounding neighborhood rather than overwhelming it. Interiors across the property's various accommodation categories — from the original suites in the main hotel building to the more recent beachfront villas — span two distinct registers. The hotel rooms run warm: travertine-tiled floors, upholstered headboards in oatmeal linen, bamboo-weave drapery panels, and ceiling fans that place comfort above drama. The standalone villas take a cooler, more contemporary position — large-format white porcelain floors, floor-to-ceiling sliding glass walls dissolved entirely to frame the reef water, a palette of dove grey and marine blue that lets the Caribbean do the decorative work. The outdoor terrace bar, canopied at dusk by clusters of woven rattan globe pendants strung between palm trunks around a concrete fire table, gives the property its most atmospheric social moment.

"The Grace Bay Club was beautiful and clean and well staffed. I loved the pool and dining options and ease of getting lounge chairs at the beach and pool. I would definitely go back!"

"I had the most incredible experience at Grace Bay Club! The level of customer service truly made this stay unforgettable. Janice was absolutely amazing-so warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. Mel was incredibly gracious and went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect. And Tiffany, the concierge, was fantastic—so helpful, knowledgeable, and always ready with the best recommendations. The entire team made me feel so welcomed and taken care of. It's rare to find service this exceptional, and it made my time there even more special. I can't wait to come back!"

"Truly would not recommend. The location is undeniably beautiful, right on Grace Bay, but unfortunately everything else fell short. This hotel advertises itself as a 5-star property and charges 5-star prices, yet the service was far from that standard. We’ve stayed at many other 5-star resorts, so we have a good sense of what to expect. From the moment we checked in, the experience was disappointing. Although we were told our room was ready, we were asked to wait about 30 minutes for the concierge to give us a tour. During that time, two other groups who arrived after us were taken straight to their rooms. The tour felt unnecessary and made the wait even more frustrating. The room itself was very large—we had a 2-bedroom luxury villa, but it was located on the first floor directly behind the Grill restaurant. Because of that, there were constant delivery and trash trucks throughout the day, which took away from what should have been a relaxing setting. Another issue was the zero-entry showers, which caused the entire bathroom floor to get wet every time someone showered. Our first night we dined at Infiniti. We asked for kids’ menus when we were seated but had to request them four more times before they finally arrived—each time being told “it will just take a minute.” The food was also extremely overpriced for the quality. Breakfast at the Grill (which was included) was fine, but nothing memorable. Overall, the biggest issue was the staff’s attitude. Requests were often met with annoyance, and service was slow and unhelpful. For a hotel positioning itself as a luxury experience, it simply didn’t deliver. I’m sure there are plenty of other hotels in Turks and Caicos—likely at a lower price point—that would provide a much better stay."

"Had a excellent, restful long weekend at GBC. Stayed in a junior suite within the Estates, which was recommended for being more secluded and quiet and did not disappoint. Our concierge, Fredna, was wonderful -- responsive, proactive and very knowledgeable. Grace Bay Beach was the highlight of the trip and exactly as you might imagine one of the most beautiful stretches of white sand in the world. Dinner at Infiniti was very good -- tasty rendang and crab spaghetti -- although we were seated too close to the live music, which was a bit too stereotypical "tropical 80s pop" for our tastes. Breakfasts each morning at The Grill were spectacular. Incredible buffet (included) and our wait staff -- Sonny and Emina -- were delightful. Kudos also to Jim, who brought us lunch and drinks while we basked on the beach. Our room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed, and the housekeeping service was among the very best we've experienced. Plenty of bottled waters and the room was made perfect every morning and on turndown every evening. Relative to what you can pay at other high-end resorts, we considered GBC competitive/fair in terms of price. Only criticism: We paid for a private SUV to pick us up from the airport, but the resort had misplaced our reservation and we waited for about 40 minutes for another car. The resort quickly made amends by allowing us to check into our room early and make the most of our first day on property. Overall, a very pleasurable vacation; we would be happy to return."
