PB hotel design editorial

At an 18-degree incline — surpassing even Pisa's famous tower and certified by Guinness World Records as the world's furthest leaning man-made structure — the Capital Gate tower designed by RMJM rises from Abu Dhabi's Capital Centre district in a sinuous curve of diamond-patterned glass and steel that makes conventional high-rise architecture look timid by comparison. Andaz Capital Gate Abu Dhabi fills the upper floors of this 35-storey landmark, its 189 rooms and suites shaped by a floor plate that shifts and rotates as the building leans, producing curved glazing lines and oblique sightlines that no amount of interior dressing could manufacture artificially. The interiors work with the building's geometry rather than against it, letting the diagrid facade do the talking while rooms are dressed in warm zebrawood headboard panels, grey upholstered benches, and travertine-tiled bathroom volumes that keep the palette grounded. Striped swivel chairs and glass-topped X-frame coffee tables furnish the suites with a restrained confidence, the angled floor-to-ceiling windows framing the Gulf and the Abu Dhabi exhibition grounds below. Higher up, an infinity pool terrace ringed with teal and tangerine parasols turns the building's tilt into an asset, the water's edge appearing to dissolve into the horizon. The rooftop restaurant, dressed in botanical greens with patterned velvet banquettes and pendant globe lighting trailing through hanging foliage, brings an incongruous exuberance to a tower that is, at its core, an engineering argument made visible.

"First stay in Abu Dhabi semi-failed | Expected more. Stayed here from march 2-6 since I attended the MEFCC. Wanted a diff hotel chain but since they got fully booked I decided to give this hotel a try since it’s also a 5 star hotel which has good reviews as I’ve seen here. !! WHAT I DID NOT LIKE 👎🏻 • 800+ per night is okay but it doesn’t live up to its price, 5 star rating & comfiness. The room is okay, pillow is too soft, hurts your neck when you wake up - can’t have a good night sleep (am not usually picky with pillows) • SHOWER HEATER is so annoying, i’m not sure if it’s faulty but it sucks. It changes from hot to cold to hot to cold again even if you’re not touching it. Contributes to waste of time as you have to move away as it’s TOO hot. • Bidet LEAKS every time you use it, wets the floor or your legs when you use the toilet. • (might be my preference) They can choose a better freshener, the orangey/taxi smell like, super made me unrelaxed which is the total opposite of what I want after a long day of attending in a convention. • blinds near the bathtub glass divider “doesn’t” work at all. Tried pulling the other string and the other one, expected it to work but didn’t - just hate it when they put something there but isn’t working. Positive stuff • The breakfast was great, staff and service is amazing. Even the atmosphere is relaxing, I think this is the only thing I liked here •Staff in the whole building is very respectful which is great as it will make or break your day. Conclusion. Can improve in the aspects I mentioned. Not worth 5 stars. Their restaurants are great tho"

"When we arrived at the hotel, we were warmly welcomed with big smiles by the Valet and Security team at the ground floor, which immediately made us feel comfortable. Although our room was not ready yet and we had to wait for a short while, the team ensured we felt well taken care of. The Security Manager, Ujwal, kindly offered us coffee while we waited. As we had just arrived from Dubai, we were a little concerned about staying in such a unique building, but he reassured us with great confidence that everything was safe. His calm and reassuring attitude truly put us at ease. Our luggage was delivered by Kumar, who explained everything clearly and professionally. His warm smile and friendly approach created very positive vibes and made us feel genuinely welcomed. The check-in process was smooth and pleasant. Ruth at the front desk was very kind, professional, and efficient, which made the entire experience seamless. Later, we visited the pool, where all the staff were extremely attentive and friendly. We also went for breakfast at Cyan just before closing time, yet the team still welcomed us warmly and waited for us without any hesitation. Although I cannot recall their names, every team member there was truly kind and accommodating. This experience reflects true hospitality from the heart. A big thank you to the entire team for making our stay so memorable."
