PB hotel design editorial

Two copper-toned towers rising from the waterfront edge of Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi's purpose-built international financial district, announce the Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi with the confident verticality of a city still actively constructing its skyline. Designed by HOK and opened in 2016, the 34-floor structure delivers 200 rooms and suites across a building whose warm-tinted glazed facade catches the Gulf light differently at every hour — bronze at midday, amber at dusk — while the podium level opens directly onto the island's promenade, placing the hotel in immediate conversation with the water rather than behind it. The interiors, shaped by the Wimberly Interiors studio, move between two registers depending on where you are in the building. Guest rooms favour a restrained residential palette — tufted linen headboards floor-to-ceiling in warm grey, wave-patterned carpets in navy and cream, dark-stained walnut nightstands with brass hardware, and Venetian-style glass chandeliers grounding suites that carry a more dressed quality. The all-day dining restaurant at podium level pushes outward toward the khor, its retractable shading and woven rattan chairs giving the space the atmosphere of a well-appointed terrace more than a formal dining room. Above, a rooftop pool deck with dark stone surrounds and louvered pergolas frames the Abu Dhabi skyline across the water — a view the city's rapid growth has made unexpectedly cinematic.

Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island Reviews

"This is a fabulous hotel. The staff go above and beyond. Feels very new conveniently attached to the posh Galleria mall. The room is fantastic, but given it’s a Four Seasons, it would be surprising if it wasn’t. They gave me some lovely treats in the room when I checked in and some fruit at turn down. I had a really early flight and the staff packed me some croissants."

"I have spent a great deal of my life in hotels, thanks to a career in consulting and a lifelong passion for travel, and feel that I have a finely tuned sensibility for what constitutes exceptional hospitality. The Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island certainly delivers it and stands among the very best hotel experiences of my life. The staff at the hotel elevates the guest experience to a level rarely seen, even in the finest of properties. Smart, knowledgeable, and efficient, they radiate a positive energy that feels genuine rather than rehearsed. The front desk, concierge, restaurants, housekeeping, and bell desk teams, and everyone else I dealt with, appeared incapable of getting anything less than perfectly right. I was upgraded to a premium room that was large, exceptionally comfortable, and beautifully appointed, with an Oliver Hemming Bluetooth speaker among its many wonderful touches. The bathroom was spacious, elegant, and beautifully finished. It was stocked with the excellent Frederic Malle toiletries that I greatly enjoyed using during my stay. My rate included breakfast at Crust, which offers a select spread of breads and pastries alongside an a la carte menu, which was very good but did not include the Masala Dosa that I was craving. The very accommodating chef was happy to prepare the off-menu item especially for me. The hotel has an extraordinary art collection. The General Manager, Bob Suri, told me it consists of more than 2,500 works. I fell in love with Italian sculptor Lorenzo Quinn's awe-inspiring piece, Infinite Love, in the lobby. As an art collector myself, I took my time exploring the collection and discovered some remarkably talented artists from the UAE in the process. I will admit to a twinge of envy standing before some of the works of art. My flight was scheduled to depart from Zayed International Airport at 2:30 am. The front desk staff graciously extended my checkout to 6:00 pm and made the business center available to me for several hours afterwards. This allowed me to clear my emails and get other work out of the way before heading to the airport. I appreciated the gesture greatly. The Galleria Al Maryah Island, a very elegant mall with excellent shopping and dining, is attached to the property. The convenient access gave me the opportunity to do some shopping, especially at the wonderful Zahi store, and enjoy some very good food. The Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island, by all measures, afforded me an exceptional experience. I look forward to returning and recommend it highly."

"Had an amazing brunch at Crust at the Four Seasons Abu Dhabi. The quality and variety of food were outstanding, especially the generous seafood selection—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The dessert selection was fantastic, with so many delicious options to choose from. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, and the service was truly exceptional—attentive, warm, and professional. A perfect spot for a refined weekend brunch. Highly recommended!"

"Our family had a truly memorable stay at Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island. The design immediately stood out. The exterior screening cleverly softens the intense UAE sun while still allowing the interiors to feel bright and open. It’s a smart architectural touch that blends contemporary style with subtle regional character, setting a refined tone from the moment we walked in. The hotel is perfectly positioned on Al Maryah Island and directly connected to The Galleria Shopping Centre, which made everything effortless. Having quality cafés, restaurants and shops just steps away is incredibly convenient, especially for a relaxed city break. Our suite was spacious, impeccably clean and finished to a high contemporary standard. The leisure facilities on the third floor (gym, pool and spa) are excellent. The space feels well proportioned and calm rather than crowded, which we appreciated. What truly made the stay special, however, was the team. Lucy and Fatinah made breakfast a pleasure each morning with their warmth and attentiveness. Sandra, Monika and Alex at the spa were welcoming and professional — and special thanks to the team for helping recover my lost swimming shorts, which was very much appreciated. Sheila and Marissa at the kids club were fantastic with our daughter and made her time there genuinely enjoyable. Overall, the hotel strikes a rare balance — sophisticated but not intimidating, central yet peaceful, polished without feeling showy. Abu Dhabi offers plenty to explore, and this property provides the perfect base. We would gladly return for another city break."
