PB hotel design editorial

Two slender glass towers rising from Abu Dhabi's Corniche, connected mid-height by a dramatic sky bridge that glows amber against the evening sky — this is the architectural signature that announced the St. Regis Abu Dhabi when it opened in 2013 within the Nation Towers complex, designed by Aedas. The taller of the two, rising 65 floors, houses the hotel across its upper levels, while the sky bridge itself contains what must be one of the more vertiginous bar spaces in the Gulf. Inside, the interiors navigate a tension familiar to Abu Dhabi's grander properties: how to layer Arabesque ornament onto a vertical tower without the whole thing collapsing into pastiche. The answer here leans heavily on craftsmanship over restraint — carved stucco headboard niches framed in pointed arches, Murano-style glass chandeliers suspended from gilded tray ceilings, and a palette of teal, ivory, and warm walnut that carries through all 283 rooms and suites. Floor-to-ceiling glazing ensures the Arabian Gulf and the city's low-rise spread remain constant presences, grounding rooms that might otherwise feel airborne. At pool level, a landscaped terrace of limestone paving, clipped topiary, and a meandering lagoon pool introduces a resort register entirely at odds with the tower above — an unexpectedly generous gesture that gives the property a split personality its guests seem content to exploit.

"Our stay was simply unforgettable! We traveled with our 1-year-old daughter and felt incredibly welcome and comfortable from the very first moment. Every wish was fulfilled — often before we even had to ask. The service was truly exceptional! A very special thank you to Bikram and Sandeep. They treated our daughter like a little princess. We rarely experience such genuine warmth and kindness. Thank you as well for the delicious mixed berries and all the lovely conversations — saying goodbye was incredibly hard for us. Especially on our last day, Bikram showed us so much care during breakfast and even brought us two drinks. We were truly touched by this gesture. The entire staff was extremely attentive, especially when it came to families with children. Eslam, the lifeguard at the beach, always recognized us in the morning and had our sunbeds and towels ready before we even arrived — such a thoughtful and kind person! Another special thank you goes to Imran Ali, who took care of our room. Such a warm-hearted person with a great eye for detail. Our room was always perfectly prepared with so much care. We enjoyed our stay more than words can describe and will definitely come back. Thank you to the entire team for making this vacation so special!"

"I am conflicted in writing this review as parts of the experience were phenomenal and parts were below average. The good: 1) Fantastic brunch in Saturdays at The Terrace on The Corniche. An absolute must visit. The quality and variety of the food options were above expectations. This was also accompanied by amazing service. Special thanks to Mr. Chathura Gayan who was taking care of us. An absolute super star! 2) The rooms are spacious, clean, and nicely appointed. As a Titanium Elite we were upgraded to the St. Regis suite. 3) Very nice bar with attentive service. Definitely try their signature version of red snapper. 4) Nice touches provided by the butter Mr. Navoda, including tea/coffee and complimentary clothes pressing. 5) Nice beach club, which makes it a perfect bland between a city hotel and a resort. The not so good: 1) The arrival experience was a disaster. There was a long queue of cars getting to the main entrance of the hotel. When we pulled up, the security guard knocked on our window and the first words he said were “park in the basement”. When we enquired about valley parking and luggage assistance, the reply was that it will take over 40 minutes to get someone to assist. 2) Check in was equally as chaotic with a single desk being occupied and multiple guests checking in and out at the same time. 3) No turndown service was provided. 4) Disappointing to see that access to the sauna/steam room/Jacuzzi are only available if you purchase a spa service. I do have to mention that our concerns were noted by Ms. Leazi-Rae Robertson, who was fantastic. The hotel also did compensate for the inconveniences caused. Overall, the hotel has mostly well intentioned staff, good facilities, but has room for improvement with the arrival/departure process."

"This hotel is next level. But it's the level of service that blew me away. I cannot tell you how incredible the service is here. Nothing was too much for anyone. I was left gifts and notes in my room. The staff are SO unbelievably polite. Room service, the beach club, the food all of it. Three people really stood out for me, Wilton, Bhahkshar and Gajanan. On top of everyone else, these guys looked after my fiancé and I so well. They are a huge credit to the hotel. I can't thank them enough and I cannot thank the St Regis enough. They all made our stay so amazing creating the best memories for life. Thanks guys!!"
