PB hotel design editorial

Planted on the western crescent of Palm Jumeirah with the Burj Al Arab visible across the water to the south, Taj Exotica Resort & Spa arranges its white-rendered wings in a broad horseshoe that frames a ribbon pool and private beach in a single unbroken gesture. The massing borrows from Mediterranean resort architecture — arched apertures, cornice detailing, copper-domed pavilions at the corners — while the aerial view reveals the full scale of the undertaking: a property of around 600 rooms and suites spread across eight floors, with one of the longest private beach frontages on the Palm. Inside, the interiors work a palette of warm champagne, walnut timber slats, and a recurring teal that echoes the Gulf beyond every window. Fabric-upholstered headboard panels in linen-coloured sections are framed by vertical wood reeding, with bed runners in ikat-patterned teal and gold establishing the signature colour note across room categories. The upper-floor suites push the glazing to floor-to-ceiling, framing direct sightlines across the pool terrace to Atlantis on the opposite crescent. At beach level, the Lime Bar introduces the property's most architecturally confident moment: a sculptural timber column that fans outward into a palm-frond canopy of radiating wood slats, the bar counter clad in cobalt mosaic tile beneath it — a detail that earns its place among the Gulf's more considered resort interventions.

"Just concluded my short 3 night half board staycation with two kids. When we arrived on Friday check in was smooth and welcoming. Room had crisps on the carpet so wasn't properly hoovered. One might back we got email about ALA carte food setup but on Friday night we were told it's buffet. Food quality not at all as we heard about from our indian friends who spoke very highly of taj brand. The pool is just one very large one so last two days was full of people playing ball games, men with t-shirts in the pool, took us an hour to get umbrella on our side. Worst was the kids club. We took two kids to staycation so they can enjoy but they got super bored as NO ACTIVITIES AT ALL. we were told on first day that it is due to staff shortage. Saturday Sunday hotel was almost full so my daughter even mentioned that as there were too many kids in the club but no activities so was very difficult for one lady there and she was rude. But she defended her by saying that she was exhausted. Some people picking food with hands and then putting it back in. In my room few sockets and USB ports were not working for example there was plug area and two USB slots next to my bedside. One USB slots was working out if the three. Location was amazing with really nice sunset view and all staff that I talked to were polite, helpful and amazing. To give it benefit of doubt, I feel due to current conditions they reduced staff and then suddenly in these holidays became super busy that could be the reason for our bad experience. Lot of people book it due to the brand name and indian food availability. For us it was one time experience. Unfortunately won't try again. But hopefully in better times it may actually cover it's flaws."

"Beautiful hotel and our room ( Luxury Suite) was absolutely amazing — spacious, luxurious, and very comfortable. The property itself is stunning and the overall atmosphere felt very premium and relaxing. Unfortunately, the experience was let down by the club lounge situation, as it was closed during our stay and the service was moved to the main lobby. This setup simply didn’t work well. Food and soft drinks frequently ran out, coffee took around 30 minutes to arrive, and the evening cocktails were disappointing and took far too long to be served. It’s a shame because the hotel itself is excellent, but the lounge service was not at the level you would expect from a Taj property."

"Our stay at Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, The Palm, Dubai was truly exceptional from start to finish. A special thanks to the team for the thoughtful room upgrade, which made our experience even more memorable. The hospitality and warmth shown by the staff throughout the stay were outstanding and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Dinner at the Indian restaurant was fantastic — the veg and non-veg thalis were especially delicious and highly recommended. The pool area was quite lively and crowded at times, but the pool itself is very large and well designed to comfortably accommodate guests. Breakfast had a wide variety of options and everything we tried was fresh and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this beautiful property to anyone looking for a luxurious stay in the exotic surroundings of Palm Jumeirah."

"Had a wonderful stay at Taj Exotica on The Palm. The standout for me was definitely the service — every member of staff went above and beyond to make the stay special. They were incredibly accommodating with my early check-in and even upgraded my room, which was such a lovely surprise. The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed, and have great views. The resort itself is stunning and feels exactly what you would expect from a luxury stay on The Palm. The beach and pool areas are beautiful and perfect for relaxing. It does get busier over the weekend, but during the weekdays the atmosphere is completely different — much calmer and more peaceful. The desi breakfast was also a highlight and absolutely delicious. Just as an advisory it is right at the end of the palm so taxis daily can start adding up. Overall, an amazing stay with exceptional hospitality. Would happily return again."
