PB hotel design editorial

Ian Schrager's EDITION brand has always wagered that restraint can outperform spectacle, and nowhere is that wager more exposed than in Downtown Dubai, where the Burj Khalifa dominates every sightline and excess is the prevailing architectural language. The Dubai EDITION, which opened in 2021 within a darkened slab tower rising above the Old Town Island district, makes its case through deliberate quietude — a bronze-toned facade of deeply recessed windows pulling back from the surrounding noise rather than competing with it. Inside, the interiors carry the atmosphere of a calibrated New York loft transposed to the Gulf, with bleached oak wall paneling, travertine-effect flooring, and a palette of warm sand and greige that shifts between day and night photographs like a different material entirely. Rooms are furnished with Prouvé-adjacent scissor-leg desks and upholstered armchairs in oatmeal bouclé, faux-fur throws softening the otherwise precise geometry of the beds. The double-height restaurant visible in the images deploys dark herringbone timber floors, tufted caramel banquettes, and globe sconces on articulated copper arms — a composition that manages warmth without sentimentality. From the pool terrace, framed between canvas parasols on timber frames, the Burj Khalifa asserts itself with complete authority, making the hotel's studied understatement feel less like a design choice and more like an act of confidence.

"Hard to put this stay into words. Everything from the beginning to the end went super smoothly. The hotel is a beautiful property with very spacious modern rooms that have one of the most beautiful views of the Burj Khalifa that I have had the pleasure of seeing. What really sets this stay for me apart is the staff. Although everyone who I interacted with was lovely there are quite a few that certainly deserve a special mention. The housekeeping team for their professionalism and kindness Niyaz uddin, Kartik, Abdul kaini who were also so sweet as to arrange lovely towel art. The kind Manager Nisha and her staff at Thia Skylounge, Siddharth, Merone, and Dima, who were super friendly and took great care of us consistently. I didn’t get a chance to dine at the Duomo restaurant, however, did enjoy a very vast and full filling breakfast there where Rohit assisted us with lovely recommendations such as the açai bowl i totally recommend! As it goes for the front office team, Shashi from the concierge gave us a lovely warm welcome and remained the most helpful throughout our stay. Lastly, a very special thank you to Amit the manager who was our direct point of contact during the stay. He was knowledgeable, always available and truly made us feel at home in the short time of our stay. In summary, I look forward to staying at the hotel again and would certainly recommend others to do so as soon as possible!"

"My cousin and I enjoyed a beautiful one night stay at The Dubai Edition during our long stopover. The suite was spacious and clean. The property is situated perfectly with clear views of the Burj Khalifa and a leisurely <5 minute walk to Dubai Mall. Staff were friendly and welcoming plus it was great they were able to accommodate our late checkout request to align with our flights. We look forward to visiting this amazing property again very soon and for a longer amount of time."
