PB hotel design editorial

Against the Hajar Mountains and the Arabian Gulf, a pale sandstone complex rises in Al Hamra that makes no apology for its palatial ambitions. The Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, which opened in 2015 across roughly 400 metres of private beach, deploys pointed arches, gilded domes, and crenellated towers in a Moorish-Arabesque vocabulary that draws equally from Andalusian and Gulf vernacular traditions. The massing — a central tower flanked by lower wings stepping down toward the shoreline, with rounded bastions at the corners — gives the building the silhouette of a fortified medina seen from the water, softened at ground level by date palms and a sequence of freeform pools that curve toward the sand. Inside, the interiors navigate between regional ornament and contemporary restraint more successfully than comparable properties in the Emirates. Guest rooms carry coffered plaster ceilings with delicate arabesque friezes, the detailing crisp enough to feel considered rather than applied. Bespoke carpets in aquamarine and sand trace geometric lattice patterns across the floors, and headboards in white lacquer with gold-leaf banding anchor a palette that runs from warm taupe to Gulf blue. The signature rooftop restaurant pushes further into atmosphere: pierced brass lanterns suspended on wooden rods above geometric inlaid floors, a perforated ceiling panel in bronzed metalwork casting the kind of dappled light associated with a traditional mashrabiya screen. The overall effect is closer to a considered exercise in contemporary Gulf grandeur than to the theme-park Orientalism that afflicts too many of its neighbors.

Very special, thank you to Trang in the restaurant, and the staff Ambarwati, Amie, Min. Chefs Robin and chef Singh. Harshana at the pool. And especially Yaw (pronounced Y-O-W). The rooms were cleaned and maintained to a very high standard, so thank you housekeeping staff The quality of service was I know this is a difficult time right now across the UAE so we wish all the staff the very best and we hope to see you again in better more peaceful times. "My stay at the hotel was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. The chef’s culinary artistry was outstanding, and every dish was beautifully crafted. The service team, especially Jason, Ricky, and Thou, delivered remarkable service and genuine hospitality throughout our stay. Sincere apology for the gentleman at the desk who check on us, sorry I forgot him name but his attention to detail and warm approach made the experience even more memorable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, quality, and outstanding service. The cocktail Vino Spritz and Squid tempura is a must try at Anchor if you visit in WA RAK. Thank you and would love to see you all soon ❤️"

"WOW what a great hotel. The room, food, staff, and facilities for adults and children were all excellent. The staff were amazing very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Waleed on reception who helped us a lot with a smile. Think he will go far. This hotel has large grounds with a family pool, adult pool and children's pools. There are a great many sun beds in all areas including the beach either in sun or shade. There is no need or point for early morning towel laying which i detest. Glad that i didnt find it at this hotel. The food in the main dining room which is a buffet is very good. There are several other restaurants. Couple of niggles We arrived at about 3am in the morning to check and were met by a woman on reception who I found difficult accent to understand. She seemed to be telling me that to book any extras to my room i had to make a pre payment/deposit of 4500 AED which is about £900. i had never heard of this before and objected she than reduced it to 3000AED about £600 which reluctantly agreed to pay. A few days later l found out that what she was actually talking about as a pre authorisation which if she had used the correct description i would have had no problem with. like many hotels they seem to have given up on smart casual in the dining room in the evenings and let people in in t shirts shorts and flip flops So you might be eating your evening meal i their elegant dining room next to a beach bum."
