On the former site of Don & Charlie's, a Scottsdale institution beloved by Major League Baseball players and coaches for decades, a six-story desert-modern building now rises at the edge of Old Town. Senna House Hotel Scottsdale, which arrived in 2021 as Arizona's first purpose-built soft-branded hotel, was designed by Nelson Partners and represents something genuinely new for this corner of the Sonoran Basin — a ground-up boutique property that earned its identity rather than inherited it from a conversion. Studio 11 and House of Form handled the interiors across all 169 rooms, and the approach feels considered rather than cosmetic. Guest rooms carry warm-toned oak case goods with reeded headboard panels, burnt-orange accent chairs, and pendant lighting in woven rattan and copper-banded cage forms — quiet nods to the landscape without leaning into cliché. The restaurant delivers the property's most expressive moment: a ceiling dense with terracotta vessels, concrete pendants, and rope-hung woven shades creates the atmosphere of a desert greenhouse, grounded by rattan bistro chairs and curved white banquettes at floor level. Above it all, the third-floor pool deck frames a direct sightline to Camelback Mountain at dusk, the water glowing against the purple Scottsdale sky. The perforated-screen tower cladding on the exterior catches the last light in a way that ties the whole composition together.

"One plus - got a 1pm check in. Otherwise, skip this place. Used Honors points for their Pinnacle Suite (claim it's 750 sq ft). What a waste. Bedroom was ok, but "suite" living area completely dark and dismal. Worn sofa. Had a strange dog smell. China made bath amenities. Super strong hallway and lobby fake scent -- so overpowering. Restaurant looks like a frat house bar - small, dark. Filled out the comment email request - got an AI response back, no personal outreach from the hotel directly. What a waste of Hilton Honors points!"

"On this work trip our team had six rooms. Everyone in our group was very happy with their accommodation, commenting on the cleanliness, great bathrooms and comfortable beds. The hotel staff were the best we've experienced in years, from the kind and attentive front desk staff to the valet parking team, everyone we encountered went out of their way to make us feel welcome and ensure that our stay was the best it could be. Our team loved the light and airy lobby and they enjoyed the energetic nighttime vibe of the hotel - we'd come from a very quiet Hilton in Virginia! We all liked the pool and the bar, and we enjoyed the breakfasts in the adjacent Cala restaurant, however we found the other Cala meals to be overpriced for what they were, with so-so quality and some supercilious restaurant staff."

"I had a great stay at Senna House Hotel Scottsdale! The hotel has a modern, stylish vibe and the location in Old Town Scottsdale is perfect for walking to restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the rooftop pool area was a great place to relax. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Scottsdale!"
