"A lovely boutique hotel on a quiet residential street in Carmel. Near the beach and ocean. A truly lovely experience similar to a B and B. Our room was petite but so well appointed with a bathroom that had heated floors and a small terrace. They served a beautiful breakfast in a living room and the whole stay was simply lovely. Highly recommend."

"We had a wonderful experience here. The staff go above and beyond. Our cottage was beautiful. All of the decor, fixtures and amenities were fabulous. The snacks and mini bar were complementary. I used the outdoor tub several times and we thoroughly enjoyed their elaborate breakfasts. They serve a choice of fantastic local pastries, and then a main course. Coffee in the morning was also lovely. They have beautiful fire pits and areas to sit and chat with other guests inside and outside. We were only two blocks from the beach and we rode our bicycles all around Carmel. Minor issues: We walked to and from dinner in downtown Carmel, but it is a 25 minute walk each way. On the way home it was very dark. iPhone flashlights to the rescue! There were not many areas to store our things in the room."

"Tried for days to get a gift certificate for a family birthday. Was first told it could be purchased over the phone, later told I had to e-mail the general manager. E-mailed the general manager (George Nagata) who said he would send a link or go through Canary Technologies so I could provide credit card information. He never sent the links and when I called several days later they said he was "on vacation." Rocky, who answered the phone 3/23/26 said she would check into the e-mail I sent previously about the purchase of a gift card (she had to contact the marketing department), still no response. No call, no e-mail. I bought a gift card from a competitor, if this is how they treat customers on the phone what must they be like in person!?"

"I have never left a hotel review before, but Villa Mara absolutely deserves it! George and Jonathan (and the entire team) made our stay so incredible. The service, cleanliness, food and atmosphere are absolutely unbeatable. The attention to detail is perfect - from the complimentary cake and welcome drinks to the le labo toiletries. We have stayed in countless $2k+ per night resorts around the world and Villa Mara absolutely rivals them for the level of service and comfort. We will be returning soon and highly recommend you visit!"
