PB hotel design editorial

Pressed against the Santa Monica Mountains in the Conejo Valley, where the coastal ranges give way to the suburban sprawl of western Los Angeles County, the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village presents an eight-storey brick-clad facade that draws more from civic architecture than from the Spanish Colonial vernacular common to the region. The building, which opened in 2002, carries the feeling of a self-contained campus — broad, symmetrical, and set within manicured grounds that buffer it from the commercial landscape beyond. The low-pitched metal roof and grid of illuminated windows give the exterior a composed, almost collegiate warmth when photographed against the violet dusk of the valley hills. A recent renovation refreshed the 269 guest rooms with an interior language that layers saffron and warm gold against pale grey upholstery and white oak millwork — curved velvet lounge chairs in burnished gold sit beside floor-to-ceiling windows framing the chaparral hillsides, while headboards wrapped in Moroccan-inflected medallion fabric introduce pattern without heaviness. The lobby bar arrives as a counterpoint: deep petroleum-blue panelling, Chesterfield sofas in cognac leather, a tartan-weave carpet, and pendant lights with an amber cast that transforms the room into something closer to a private members' club than a resort lounge. The all-day restaurant bar, by contrast, pivots toward brightness — a circular marble counter beneath a tiered brass oculus lantern, surrounded by herringbone oak floors and full-height glazing that keeps the gardens perpetually in view.

"The Four Seasons Hotel at Westlake Village offers an outstanding hospitality experience. The dining options are excellent-the food is delicious and beautifully presented, complemented by expertly crafted drinks. Natalie Parra at the front desk provides a warm and personalized welcome, and her manager, Josh Duran, ensures that everything is handled smoothly. The hotel's wellness retreat makes it a perfect destination for relaxation and rejuvenation. I can't wait to return!"

"Wonderful hospitality and staff. Very clean rooms and bedding was comfortable. Big shout out to the bell man staff who helped me get my luggage ready immediately following my conference so that I didn’t miss my flight out of Burbank. It was close but due to the help of the bellman services I made my flight on time. It was a big relief after such a busy conference week. I am grateful for all of your help."

"We stayed here while visiting family and thought we would have our how gettaway in a Four Seasons. We were perplexed at this oddly cold, poorly designed business park hotel. The interios are all over the place... crystal chandeliers, gold modern crap, cheap hilton sofas in the lobby, a weird mural, mixed woods... how many deosgners did this place? or did any designer? It's oddly facy and ugly at the same time. The rooms are weird too. Like a mix of old Ritz Carlton with grandmas' touches. And it's on a freeway in an office park and looks like it. The main resturant has a nice patio, with some gardes that look like a memorial park. We didn't use the spa, but suppossed to be good. There is also an airport coffee bar in the lobby that is useful, but literally the centerpeice of the entry. Confused and dazed."

"Four Seasons knows how to do it right- consistent, terrific staff, gorgeous rooms with lush amenities. I really enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning. The only thing of note is that it is located in what feels like a corporate park so you are looking at office buildings and parking lots. Quiet area with plenty of dining options nearby but I was a little out off by $30 parking fee for self-park given there is nothing around."

"I've been here twice. The rooms are very stylish and comfortable. Five stars for the rooms. Beds are cozy, it's spacious and adequately air conditioned. Also the front desk staff and valet are friendly and helpful. The spa is only OK. The steam and sauna facilities are nice, and it's a huge area, although it can be crowded and that's not very relaxing. Plenty of lockers and change rooms. The pools are too warm, although the family pool is very pretty. There is no cold plunge, and the skill among the spa staff is mixed. I hated my facial, it was one of the worst I've ever had, and my face was dry and scaly for days afterwards (I was talked into paying more for a service that was not right for my skin). But my friend loved hers. The food is mediocre, but most hotel food is."
