PB hotel design editorial

Rising fourteen stories above a palm-threaded stretch of Doheny Drive where Beverly Hills meets West Hollywood, the sand-colored tower that houses the Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills presents a quietly Mediterranean face to its residential neighborhood — arched balconies stepping up the facade in a rhythm that owes more to Southern California's Spanish Colonial inheritance than to corporate hotel architecture. Completed in 1987 to a design by the firm Langdon Wilson, the 285-room building was conceived from the outset as a vertical urban resort, its upper floors commanding unobstructed sightlines across the Los Angeles basin to the downtown skyline and north toward the Santa Monica Mountains. The interiors balance two distinct registers. Guest rooms in the tower carry a restrained neoclassical palette — hand-painted floral wallcoverings in blush and slate blue, upholstered headboards with ebonized wood frames, grey wool carpeting underfoot, and floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening onto private balconies. The garden-level rooms take a warmer tone, with lacquered chinoiserie-inspired headboard panels in gold and ivory and French doors giving onto the planted grounds below. The bar, finished in dark emperador marble, herringbone oak flooring, and illuminated wine walls, delivers the amber-lit intimacy of a private club. Perhaps most distinctive is the ground-floor restaurant's glass-walled conservatory, where circular banquettes upholstered in moss green linen sit among dense tropical plantings — bougainvillea, snake plant, bromeliad — dissolving the boundary between interior and garden entirely.

Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills Reviews

"The Four Seasons Hotel on Doheny Drive is a truly wonderful hotel from which to explore beautiful Beverly Hills. The hotel is very well-maintained, the reception staff was friendly, and our Hollywood Suite was spacious and cozy. Since we were staying on the ninth floor, we were able to make wonderful use of the two balconies. On the fourth floor is the pool area, which is spacious for an LA city hotel. A pretty pool, exceptionally comfortable loungers, and good service put you in a good mood. The hotel’s complimentary shuttle service within a 2-kilometer radius is a nice touch, as is the walking distance to Rodeo Drive. All in all, a lovely hotel to stay for several nights and explore the greater Beverly Hills area, including Brentwood, Venice, and Malibu. We enjoyed our six nights there and would choose this hotel again anytime."

"Long (10 day) business stay at the Four Seasons. Atmosphere: luxurious, yet understated. Harkens back to the early 2000 and one can easily understand why many celebrities opt to stay here, away from prying eyes. The lobby could use a bit of a refresher. Service: top notch, especially Tom the bellman and housekeeping. Check in desk was courteous but nothing extraordinary. Location: decent, but action is at least a 20 minute walk away (Rodeo Drive, The Grove). Room: 14th floor rooms are beautiful and discreet, the highlight being the ultra comfy bed and spacious bathroom with glass shower and tub. Beware, some lower floor rooms are dated and desperately need an upgrade. Pool: Comfortable, slightly small, no fuss. Food: Probably the lowest mark for the hotel, nothing special or stand out dishes. Very expensive for what you get. Overall, very comfortable but would expect a bit more wow for the rates. A tech upgrade would be welcome in the rooms and the kitchen needs an overhaul."

"The service the Four Seasons offers is excellent. Our room was OK (1118) but the star of the show are the beds. There is something about sinking into that incomparable mattress that just lulls you off to sleep in no time at all. I am Coeliac, and I have to be so careful with food. They gave me my own special gluten free toaster in the room and a separate bigger fridge and I was so grateful for it. We've been coming for a very long time to this hotel and the staff remember us. The welcome always feels genuine. I recommend the Caesar Salad with prawns for lunch - those prawns are enormous! What a treat. We had a great stay as usual. We had a big birthday to celebrate and the hotel staff pulled out the stops for us to make it very special indeed. Thank you! The only downside for us was that we just couldn't use the pool because the music is so loud and not relaxing at all. It's like "Let's have a very loud party" instead of "Let's relax by the pool". Looking around, we noticed that most people were wearing their earbuds and we were not surprised. It stopped us from going there the following days, we tried, we really did, but as soon as we got there it felt so inappropriate to the goal of relaxing that we turned around and left. Which was sad - it's a lovely space. That's why we could only do 4 stars this time."

"We had such a wonderful stay at Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. My wife and I came out from cold NYC and it was the perfect escape into the California sunshine. The property is beautiful, with lovely landscaping everywhere you look like succulents, citrus trees, and so much greenery that it really feels like a little oasis in the middle of the city. The spa was incredible. I had the best facial I’ve ever had, and we both also had massages. The therapists were fantastic and you could tell they really knew what they were doing. It was one of those spa experiences where you leave feeling completely relaxed. We had great meals at Culina for both breakfast and dinner. Juan took wonderful care of us and recommended a beautiful bottle of wine that paired perfectly with our very indulgent order of pastas and steaks. The deconstructed key lime pie at the end was the perfect finish. Even room service was excellent. Service throughout the hotel was warm, attentive, and effortless. We truly felt taken care of the whole time. It was exactly the kind of trip we needed and we can’t wait to come back."

"We had the best stay here. The pool is so beautiful and feels like a little escape tucked into the middle of LA. You could honestly spend the whole day there and be very happy. Pretty pink setting with beautiful sunsets. Culina was such a highlight too. The carbonara is insanely good and one of those dishes you keep talking about after. We also had drinks at the bar and everything was great, especially the ice cold martinis and the more interesting cocktails. The lobby florals are gorgeous, and the whole hotel just feels warm and special. But more than anything, the staff really made it. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and made us feel completely at home. We already want to come back."
