PB hotel design editorial

Rising fourteen stories above a palm-threaded stretch of Doheny Drive where Beverly Hills meets West Hollywood, the sand-colored tower that houses the Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills presents a quietly Mediterranean face to its residential neighborhood — arched balconies stepping up the facade in a rhythm that owes more to Southern California's Spanish Colonial inheritance than to corporate hotel architecture. Completed in 1987 to a design by the firm Langdon Wilson, the 285-room building was conceived from the outset as a vertical urban resort, its upper floors commanding unobstructed sightlines across the Los Angeles basin to the downtown skyline and north toward the Santa Monica Mountains. The interiors balance two distinct registers. Guest rooms in the tower carry a restrained neoclassical palette — hand-painted floral wallcoverings in blush and slate blue, upholstered headboards with ebonized wood frames, grey wool carpeting underfoot, and floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening onto private balconies. The garden-level rooms take a warmer tone, with lacquered chinoiserie-inspired headboard panels in gold and ivory and French doors giving onto the planted grounds below. The bar, finished in dark emperador marble, herringbone oak flooring, and illuminated wine walls, delivers the amber-lit intimacy of a private club. Perhaps most distinctive is the ground-floor restaurant's glass-walled conservatory, where circular banquettes upholstered in moss green linen sit among dense tropical plantings — bougainvillea, snake plant, bromeliad — dissolving the boundary between interior and garden entirely.

"We had the best stay here. The pool is so beautiful and feels like a little escape tucked into the middle of LA. You could honestly spend the whole day there and be very happy. Pretty pink setting with beautiful sunsets. Culina was such a highlight too. The carbonara is insanely good and one of those dishes you keep talking about after. We also had drinks at the bar and everything was great, especially the ice cold martinis and the more interesting cocktails. The lobby florals are gorgeous, and the whole hotel just feels warm and special. But more than anything, the staff really made it. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and made us feel completely at home. We already want to come back."

"Five stars, no hesitation. The Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills is one of those places that immediately makes you exhale the second you walk in. The best part for me was honestly the pool. It is so beautiful. Lush, sunny, and calm in a way that feels almost impossible for Los Angeles. It feels like you are tucked into a little pocket of peace above the city, surrounded by palm trees and that classic Four Seasons feeling that everything has been thoughtfully taken care of. We ended up spending far more time there than we expected because it was just that relaxing. And the food. Wow. We ordered snacks by the pool and I am still thinking about the wagyu tacos. Hands down some of the best poolside food I have had anywhere. Fresh, flavorful, and actually memorable, not just good for a hotel. Everything we ate felt thoughtful and well prepared. Service was another standout. It never felt stiff or overly formal. It was warm, attentive, and easy. Every person we interacted with seemed genuinely happy to help and truly wanted us to have a great stay. They strike that perfect balance of being there when you need them while still giving you space to enjoy your time. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and quiet, and the entire property has a polished but welcoming energy that makes you want to come back. If you want a true Los Angeles escape without leaving the city, this is it. I am already looking forward to coming back, mostly for that beautiful pool and those wagyu tacos."

"Extremely disappointing experience and terrible customer service. My partner and I visited the Four Seasons Spa to celebrate our anniversary, hoping to spend time together before and after our services. Because this is a gender-specific spa, communication was especially important — yet it was completely mishandled. I waited in the lobby for 20 minutes—twice—while my partner was inside, and the staff never once informed her that I was waiting. Later, I went to the pool, and again, they failed to tell her where I was. As a result, we lost valuable time together on what was supposed to be a special occasion. What made the situation worse was the response from the manager, Carene. She spoke down to us, dismissed our concerns, and denied that anything went wrong, even though the lack of communication was obvious. There was no apology or accountability—only repeated statements that she “disagreed” with our experience. For a brand like the Four Seasons, this level of customer service is unacceptable. Our anniversary was impacted, and instead of being met with empathy or professionalism, we were treated with indifference. I would never return here again. The customer service was terrible, and I do not recommend this spa."

"We were there for their Thanksgiving brunch and it was a huge disappointment. 1. We were seated in the back room where they rolled out banquet tables and chairs. I think paying $250 per person to eat as if I'm paying half price is not appropriate. 2. When I asked the host for a new table, instead of even pretending, she asked what exactly I didn't like about the table and said there wasn't anything she could do. 3. They claim they have live music but... when you are put into the back room sitting on banquet chairs, we can't really hear anything that's going on in the actual restaurant. Bc we weren't eating in the restaurant.... We ate in the back closet. 4. They didn't even have the BASIC Thanksgiving desserts: pecan pie and pumpkin pie. How do you have a Thanksgiving buffet, chatting $250 pp and not have the basic holiday dessert? 5. Every other parties that were brought to this back closet room demanded another table and seemed to be taken away. Except for us, some breastfeeding woman, someone else that brought a DOG, and a group who came in literal sweatpants. Meanwhile, our family took time to dress nice and wear matching outfits. We will never forget the experience and the way the manager and host made us feel like second class citizens or as if we were being given half off for our meals. To pay $1700 for brunch to be treated that way is unacceptable. I can’t add photos bc we didn’t waste time taking pics of the abhorrent banquet room and banquet tables n chairs. Additionally right above our table was a huge water stain. Truly gross for a four seasons experience. I've been going to their brunches for Mother's Day in the past and have been sat inside the restaurant and have had good service but after today, will never to back. We let the manager know and he couldn't have cared less."

"During a busy week, I had to zip to LA for a meeting. I'm so glad I chose the Four Seasons, which proved to be an oasis of calm and quiet elegance. Just what I needed to recharge my batteries. Nothing beats the Four Seasons service. The personal touches. And the beds! I had a wonderful and blissfully quiet stay and will return home a bit less stressed than when I started."
