Right at the edge of the Pacific Coast Highway where Malibu's famous Carbon Beach meets the pier, a three-storey Mission Revival building with terracotta-tiled rooflines and warm stucco facades makes the case that intimacy is the defining luxury on one of California's most coveted stretches of coastline. The Malibu Beach Inn, renovated with interiors by Martyn Lawrence Bullard, holds just 47 rooms across its compact seafront footprint — every one of them facing the water, the Malibu Pier visible from the glazed balconies that step back from the PCH in a quietly considered rhythm. Bullard's approach inside pulls from a palette of driftwood oak, slate blue velvet, and pale linen, grounding the rooms in a California coastal register that avoids the predictable nautical clichés. Exposed beam ceilings in the upper-floor suites sit alongside curated artwork — prints with a Pop sensibility alongside abstract canvases in coral and grey — giving the spaces a collected, residential feeling rather than a designed-for-photographs neutrality. The dining room's wide timber windows frame the pier like a living canvas, furnished with white-oak tables and upholstered slipper chairs in fog-grey linen. On the rooftop terrace, white powder-coated dining chairs and glass balustrades dissolve the boundary between table and horizon at dusk, the pier's silhouette holding the composition in place as the Pacific goes silver and then blue.

"From the moment you arrive to the time you depart its an amazing experience . The front desk check -in and departure , guest services , restaurant staff all go above and beyond to make it a memorable experience that will make want to come back again and again ! I had my 70th birthday in Malibu and had 7 couples come in town and stay at The Malibu Inn , two years later they are still talking about their stay ! They now stay at the Malibu Inn every chance they get when coming to L.A."

"Loved my room. It was big with a beautiful ocean view and balcony where I could sit outside and watch the sunset. Service was excellent. Staff was so attentive. I LOVE this hotel and will always stay here when I am in Malibu! I highly recommend it!!"

"Finally stayed here and WOW – totally lived up to the hype! I always heard amazing things about Malibu Beach Inn and decided to spend a weekend there before heading to LA. It exceeded our expectations and was exactly what I needed after freezing all winter in nyc! This place is gorgeous , modern, luxurious, and right on the ocean. But what really made our stay special was the people. Everyone we met was so helpful, kind, and professional. You can tell they genuinely care. The little touches everywhere really impressed us. Custom ear plugs, fresh homemade cookies (so good!), and all the bathroom amenities were spot-on. It’s clear this hotel just gets what guests want. Breakfast and meals right on the water with that view? Literally so dreamy . The staff went out of their way for us – they even sent me fresh cookies ( highly recommend you try) after they ran out in the front. Concierge also helped us make our restaurant reservations without us having to ask. If you’re into boutique hotels with character and incredible service, this is it. I’ve recommended it to all my friends coming to the west coast and We’re already talking about when we can come back!"
