PB hotel design editorial

At 8430 Sunset Boulevard, one of the Strip's most conspicuous new towers has already worn two identities in four years — first as Pendry West Hollywood, and since August 2025 as The Sun Rose West Hollywood, a rebranding that brought with it a complete reimagining of the interiors by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. The building itself, designed by Ehrlich Yanai Rhee Chaney Architects with Cuningham Group as architect of record, remains a confident vertical presence above the low-slung sprawl of West Hollywood, its 149 rooms and 40 private residences stacked high enough that the rooftop pool looks out across the basin to a downtown skyline that seems almost theoretical in the distance. Brudnizki's touch is immediately legible: a palette built from deep cobalt velvet headboards, lacquered navy credenzas trimmed in brass, and swirling blue-and-gold custom rugs that carry the feeling of California glamour pressed through a mid-century Art Deco filter. The entrance forecourt — its checkerboard paving, bronze-framed glass walls, and geodesic sculptural door detail visible at night — sets a tone that the interiors sustain without straining. The rooftop restaurant, with its billowing draped ceiling, sage-green tile columns, and Murano-style chandeliers suspended above terracotta and slate checkerboard floors, is the most theatrical room in the building: an updated supper-club fantasy that earns the view it commands.

"10/10 experience - between hotel ambience, amenities, and staff!! We were greeted by Doug (so friendly and eager to please) and the concierge lead, Adrienne - she was freaking amazing. Sushi Samba is the hottest joint in town right now, booked out for weeks, and she landed us a reservation for later that evening. Will definitely be coming back!"

"I was so excited to stay here as I love the Hollywood regency style, and visually the hotel did not disappoint. It was gorgeous and check-in felt intimate. The room was beautiful. The rooftop is spctacullsr at night. I did have several issues during my stay with room service but the manager resolved that effectively. Comedy store is right across the street to a fun night out"

"We stayed at the Sun Rose for the first time 2 weeks ago but it likely would not be our last. Booked it through the "Edit" collection from Chase Sapphire Reserve; upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Paul at the front desk and Adrienne at the concierge. Check in was lightening fast but attentive. Our upgraded room was gorgeous (as is the entire hotel) and comfortable. The staff had left us a personalized welcome letter and a beautiful fruit plate; it's a small detail but the start of many small yet thoughtful details over the weekend that would make our experience exceptional and memorable. Too many highlights to count: numerous wonderful recommendations from Adrienne; Paul rushing a well-packaged Basque cheese cake for us for the road because he heard we enjoyed it (must try; it is the best cheese cake); the sublime blue crab salad, the pool, breakfast at Ospero... it is not the kind of 5-star hotel that is ostentatious, but if you are looking for relaxed elegance x West Hollywood cool, stunning design and exceptional service, this is the place. Only regret is we didn't get to experience a concert at the music venue on site; that gives me an excuse to return, hopefully soon."
