At the corner of El Camino Real and Valparaiso Avenue in Menlo Park, where Silicon Valley's venture capital corridor meets a low-scale downtown that has resisted the glass-tower impulse, a five-storey building clad in light limestone, dark metal panels, and vertical cedar screens signals a particular kind of ambition. Park James, which opened in 2018 with 61 rooms across those five floors, was designed by architecture firm LPAS with interiors by ForrestPerkins — a brief that asked both studios to translate Northern California's indoor-outdoor culture into a property that could hold its own against the region's increasingly design-literate tech clientele without alienating the town around it. The building's exterior layering carries through inside, where walnut platform beds and wide-plank oak floors ground rooms that use copper-leafed headboard panels and brass pendant fixtures to introduce warmth without excess. Chartreuse tufted lounge chairs push against the otherwise restrained grey-and-timber palette, adding the kind of considered irreverence that keeps the rooms from feeling corporate. The restaurant brings exposed concrete columns and oak ceiling beams into conversation with dusty-mauve velvet seating and globe pendants — a combination closer to a well-edited Parisian brasserie than a hotel dining room. Outside, the courtyard terrace deploys deep-cushioned linen sectionals around a gas fire table, mature redwoods framing the view beyond, the whole arrangement suggesting a private Palo Alto garden rather than a hospitality amenity.

"If you don't stay here you are making a monster mistake! From the Lyle the GM, to Jackie the server and Daniel one of the managers the Park James was a delight to . Everyone is professional, kind and absolutely care about your accommodations. And if you're looking for a cozy hang out to grab beverage their outdoor patio with the comfy cushions and fabulous cuisine is unmatched. The Park James Hotel is a must if you're going to the Bay Area especially Silicon Valley!"

"The Park James Hotel is a must stay! We visited for the first time on a recommendation for a friend and the hotel did not disappoint. From check in to check out we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The staff is amazing! From the front desk lobby to the restaurant and bar to the cleaning crew everyone was professional and friendly. Daniel, Renee, Jackie and Lyle helped make our stay the best. Not to mention the award winning food while eating at the outdoor patio. The atmosphere and ambiance were outstanding... cozy and comfortable. We traveled from Seattle and were pleasantly surprised with the Park James and what made the trip even better... we learned the GM is a former UW Husky! #GoDawgs"

"Had a really nice weekend stay at Park James Hotel in Menlo Park. The hotel is clean, modern, and in a great location. Sabina at the front desk was very polite and welcoming, helped make check-in quick and easy, answered our questions about the area, and made sure we had everything we needed during the stay. Overall it was a very comfortable experience and I would definitely stay here again."

"My family and I stayed here for a few nights while my granddaughter visited Stanford. We traveled from Seattle. The accommodations were wonderful. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well appointed. The staff were the most friendly I have ever encountered. I have eaten at a lot fine restaurants and food ranked among the best. Lyle, the GM was attentive and made us all feel like we celebrity guests. I wish I cold rate this higher than a 5."
