PB hotel design editorial

The all-inclusive model feels almost countercultural in downtown Palo Alto, where the prevailing instinct is to monetize every transaction and optimize every experience. The Clement Palo Alto built its identity around the opposite premise — every meal, minibar, wine hour, and airport transfer folded into a single rate — which shapes the atmosphere of the property as much as any design decision. The hotel sits on Huntington Avenue in a contemporary low-rise building, its 23 suites arranged across a modest footprint that keeps the scale deliberately residential. Interiors lean into the vocabulary of a well-funded California home rather than a corporate hotel: warm wood paneling, upholstered window seats, kitchen areas fitted with proper appliances, and living rooms furnished to accommodate the kind of extended stay that Silicon Valley business travel demands. The palette works in soft neutrals anchored by richer textiles, and individual suite configurations give guests the feeling of having borrowed someone's well-appointed apartment. The images show sitting areas with tailored sofas and reading lamps placed for actual use, dining tables set for in-suite meals, and bathrooms finished with stone detailing that avoids the anonymous gleam of the hotel category. For a city whose residents have largely redefined how technology companies operate globally, The Clement offers something genuinely unusual — attentive, all-included hospitality delivered at a scale where the staff can realistically know every guest by name.

"Fantastic hotel with thoughtful details in the room! For example, there was a hair dryer along with a straightener. The turndown service was excellent, a beautiful bathroom and stocked mini fridge with water, juice, and soda. The view from the roof top pool was gorgeous!"

"I was in Palo Alto for the BTS Concert and had the pleasure of staying at The Clement for three nights. The Clement is a beautiful all inclusive hotel in a great location. All of the food I had was delicious. The rooftop pool is beautiful and a great spot to enjoy some views of the area. What really makes this hotel so special is the staff! General Manager Sebastian and his staff go far and above what is required to make everything perfect. A special shout out to Gail and Katarina! I can’t wait to visit The Clement again! Sebastian thank you for the great hospitality!"

"The service here is unparalleled. The food is incredible. The hotel feels like it’s your own home because even when it’s fully booked you hardly see any other guests. The rooms are lovely. I try to go as often as I can."

On one night, the fire alarm went off twice, first at 10:30pm and again at 1am, which caused major disruption and made it nearly impossible to get proper rest. By the second time it happened, many of the other guests piled into to lobby to express frustration but there was only one person on staff and she couldn't get ahold of the hotel manager and was doing her best to take instruction from an engineer, by phone, to try to turn off the alarm. Both times, the alarm went off for about 30 minutes each. Given that I was there for work, this significantly impacted my ability to function the next day. It also raised concerns about safety. It also appeared that the hotel was understaffed for what is marketed as an all-inclusive, five-star experience. While every staff member I interacted with was friendly and clearly doing their best, they seemed stretched too thin. The check-in process felt rushed and disorganized, likely because the same person was juggling multiple roles at once. Room service was also disappointing, with long delays and missing items in our order. Additionally, attempts to contact the front desk often went unanswered, with the phone ringing for extended periods. We chose this hotel as a special treat, but left feeling disappointed and frustrated. I hope management takes steps to address these issues, as there is clear potential here with better staffing and service consistency."

"The best boutique all inclusive experience! And I mean ALL inclusive, snacks, refreshments fully stocked in the room, meals and drinks made to order, table service not the buffet trough! Blackout window coverings so set your alarm as you'll will oversleep! Get the suite to have your space to breathe and relax, and especially if you are here for work. We booked it because we needed to go to Stanford Medical Center for a consult. We needed a peaceful, comfortable, easy access location to reduce our stress and anxiety. This property, the staff, the amenities, the food met more than all of our needs beyond our desires. Perfect for the couple or business traveler. Not so much for kids because it is such a peaceful sanctuary, even the rooftop reflecting pool and jacuzzi. It may be too peaceful and families, and loud gatherings should go next door to the Westin."
