PB hotel design editorial

Boston-based EMBARC took on both the architecture and interiors at White Elephant Aspen, a 54-room property that opened in June 2026 at the corner of Main Street and Garmisch Street in Aspen's West End, and the discipline of that unified authorship shows. The facade presents a curtain of closely spaced white fins that curve gently at their crown, warm timber slats visible behind them in a layered composition that reads as neither purely alpine nor purely contemporary — it finds its own quiet confidence. Oversized pivot doors in dark steel mark the entrance, opening into a lobby where cream bouclé armchairs and silk-shot curtains signal a residential calm that the mountain backdrop, framed through black-steel windows, keeps from feeling overly precious. Inside, EMBARC built the palette from blonde oak case pieces, porcelain tile floors, and horsehair and stone mosaic textures that accumulate tactile warmth without visual noise. Guest rooms follow the same logic: tall caramel leather headboards rising almost to the coffered ceiling, patterned geometric rugs underfoot, and a warm neutral layering of linen and leather cushions that positions the Elk Mountain panoramas outside each window as the primary decorative event. The outdoor pool terrace, framed by dark horizontal screening panels and backdropped by snow-streaked peaks, brings the same material restraint to the open air. Over 125 original artworks, curated by Emily Santangelo, move through the property without clustering — each piece placed to be found, not announced.
