PB hotel design editorial

At 45 stories, the glass and terracotta-clad tower that houses Four Seasons Denver was, when it opened in 2010, the tallest building constructed in the city in nearly three decades — a marker of downtown's ambitions as much as of the brand's. Architect Ziegler Cooper designed the mixed-use high-rise to carry both hotel and private residences, the slender shaft stepping back toward a luminous crown that reads as a distinctive accent on the Denver skyline, the Rocky Mountains visible beyond in every westward view. The interiors, led by Cheryl Rowley Design, work a cool metropolitan palette that takes its cues from the altitude and the light rather than from Western regional clichés. Guest rooms are finished in layered greys — upholstered fabric headboards, tufted leather benches, textured carpet underfoot — with floor-to-ceiling glass framing panoramas that stretch across the grid of the city to the Front Range. In the suites, horizontal ledgestone surrounds the fireplace surround in tawny Colorado tones, the one concession to local geology in an otherwise urbane scheme. The lobby bar and restaurant unfold across large-format stone floors, copper-patinated shelving units and geometric pendant lighting overhead, teal velvet lounge chairs introducing color into a composition that otherwise keeps its palette firmly anchored in bronze, cream, and charcoal. The seventh-floor pool terrace, planted with mature trees and warmed by Cor-Ten steel fire pits, offers an unexpected garden suspended above the downtown street grid.

"What you expect from a Four Seasons. The hotel mgmt tries to make things right asap and then follows up to make sure the guest is satisfied with no lingering displeasure. Edge has overall good service, with great servers and hostesses like Ashley and Alex. The toast is always cold so order it when your meals comes. Nice spa, great gym. The biggest disappointment was with the bartenders. They behave like they are scrolling social media. In the middle of making a drink they will start it, and then check the tickets, they will get back to the drink and add some of the recipe, then talk to another guest, then go back and maybe finish the drink. This happened every day, all while I am watching! And one day the bartender totally forgot my guests wine."

"I stayed here for a work event, and overall it was a great experience. I had a lovely corner room, which was spacious (although looking at the room map, all rooms on my floor were about the same, which is great to see). The tub is massive! All staff I interacted with were lovely and helpful. Robes were fluffy. Turndown service was a nice touch. I had room service one evening and while expensive as expected, it was tasty (particularly the sticky toffee pudding!). The only criticism I could offer was during a business event, the coffee station provided was lukewarm at best (coffee and hot water urns). It was truly not even tap water warm despite the little burners below the urns. This setup seemed to work fine the two days prior so I am not sure what the problem was. The food at our events was a bit mixed, sometimes too bland/healthy, and not filling. Some folks didn’t mind this but many were a bit disappointed. We did have a delicious taco bar spread one day which was really tasty. Overall I would stay here again. Lots of restaurants close by as well."
