PB hotel design editorial

At the edge of Denver's Union Station neighborhood, where the city's most energetic redevelopment district meets the Front Range ambition of a mountain town that grew into a metropolis, the Limelight Hotel Denver sets a tone that is deliberately caught between urban and alpine. Developed by Aspen Skiing Company as an extension of its Limelight brand beyond its Colorado mountain origins, the property draws its design language from the same vernacular as its Aspen and Ketchum siblings — knotty pine wall panels, plaid wool upholstery, herringbone walnut floors, leather-tufted Chesterfield chairs — and transplants that mountain-lodge warmth into a purpose-built structure with the steel-and-glass curtain wall vocabulary of a city hotel. The interiors navigate that tension with considerable skill. Exposed concrete columns sit alongside burnished knotty pine ceilings, the rooms pairing dark leather headboards and plaid accent pillows with mid-century walnut desks and matte black task lamps — a mix that has more in common with a well-appointed ski chalet than a downtown business hotel. Sliding barn doors in blackened steel, raw timber bathroom doors, and woven leather sling chairs around the lobby fireplace reinforce a material palette that stays coherent across every space. The entrance sequence, visible in the images at dusk, arrives through a covered porte-cochère with a patinated bronze ceiling alongside a perforated screen wall, easing the transition between the city street and the deliberately unhurried interior atmosphere beyond.

"This hotel was chosen for me by the company that arranged my train tour through the mountains. I could not have been happier. The neighborhood is pleasantly walkable, adjacent to hiking trails through city parks and along rivers. I felt very safe, and I was happy to see so many people of all ages enjoying an evening stroll."

"Great location however if the comp car could go 2 miles, would be excellent as it was 100 degree heat and walking was unfortunately not possible do to that. Expanding radius in the summer heat would be so nice. But any other season, walking is just fine for everything you need! Room was well kept and cleaned promptly. Our water bottles were never replenished after drinking but theres a refill station which is nice. The only con to the room was the aircon which didnt go into the bathroom or sleeping room, only the sitting area which was difficult in the 100 degree heatwave we were in. Wonderful decor and amenities provided in lieu of a spa/pool. The audi trip with recommended routes was amazing. I wish we could have had it for longer to stop for a bite to eat in the small towns nearby. Value/cost was a bit high for it being a bit far from the spots to eat in the heat as well as not having a pool/spa if you are staying in a standard room. But Id still recommend the stay to anyone who needed to be in downtown denver."

"The Limelight is a beautiful hotel in the perfect downtown location. The hotel is in very close walking distance to the ballpark, the art museum, great downtown shopping and restaurants; it's also just a few steps from Denver's clean and reliable public transit options. My spotless and comfortable room was wonderful, it had everything I needed plus a great view of downtown, and staff was very pleasant and helpful. The Limelight is now my "go to" hotel for any future trips to Denver."
