PB hotel design editorial

A century-old warehouse on the corner of Larimer Street in Denver's River North Art District — a neighborhood better known for murals and studio spaces than hotel rooms — gives the Ramble Hotel its essential character. The four-storey red brick building, with its grid of steel-framed factory windows and dark-painted base, was converted into a 50-room hotel that opened in 2018, its industrial bones left deliberately visible throughout. The lobby rises through a double-height volume of exposed brick and concrete columns, chandelier clusters dropping into a room furnished with Thonet bentwood chairs, Persian rugs layered over herringbone hardwood floors, and deep navy sofas — a collector's apartment scaled up rather than a hotel reception dressed down. The guest rooms carry the same considered eclecticism. Slate-blue tufted headboards sit against floor-to-ceiling paneled walls painted in near-black navy, gold-framed black-and-white prints clustered above in the manner of a well-curated study. Red Persian kilims anchor wide-plank oak floors, while crystal pendant chandeliers introduce just enough glamour to keep the mood from tipping into pure industrial austerity. The bar — one of Denver's most serious whiskey programs — unfolds behind a white marble counter beneath three arched mirrors set into verdigris-toned plaster, leather stools lined up in a row. Throughout, the Ramble pursues a particular vision: that the best hotel interiors feel accumulated over time, not specified from a single palette.

About

The first hotel in Denver’s industrial and artistic RiNo neighborhood, The Ramble Hotel is locally owned and operated. The 50-room boutique hotel houses the marquee lobby bar Death & Co; DC/AM, a cafe bar serving breakfast and lunch; and Suite 6a, a reservation-only private bar featuring a cocktail tasting menu experience – all operated by Death & Co. Additionally, The Ramble Hotel is home to Vauxhall, an intimate music venue, theatre and bar; an outdoor courtyard; and Super Mega Bien, an independent pan-Latin restaurant from James Beard-nominated Chef Dana Rodriguez. The Ramble Hotel took inspiration from French Salons of the 17th century, and the Salon’s utility in society as not only a platform for the exchange of ideas, but as a catalyst to creating community. As such, each space within the hotel has been designed with the intent to foster meaningful conversation, engagement and interaction among guests.

"Had the most lovely stay at The Ramble while on business. Room was spotless, decor so lovely, staff very friendly. Feels very high end, with the extra touches that make it feel so special and unique. The only recommendation I have to take it to next level is an upgrade on the sheets to something more luxurious like the ones from Comphy/Coop often found in high end resorts. There was quite a bit of pilling on the sheets, which made them somewhat uncomfortable, but such a SMALL thing in comparison to how lovely this place is. I am very picky when it comes to where I stay and this place is just amazing. When I return to Denver, this is where I’ll be staying. A GEM!!!"

"I travel extensively, and The Ramble was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. The room, ambiance, restaurant, and Death and Co. were all outstanding, but the people made the experience. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. They held luggage for our family that was not staying at the hotel, took so much care in making a restaurant or experience recommendation, and just seemed to be right there, no matter if you needed help getting your bags into an Uber or keeping a belonging that was left behind. This place is a gem!"

"A 5-Star Experience Thanks to the Stellar Staff!! From the moment we arrived at the Ramble Hotel in Denver, we knew we were in for a treat. The atmosphere was a perfect blend of sophisticated luxury and warm, welcoming comfort. The hotel itself is impeccably clean, and the decor is absolutely stunning. Our room was a perfect sanctuary, and the drinks at Death and Co were nothing short of sublime—truly on point! While the luxurious accommodations were outstanding, what truly elevated our stay from a great one to an unforgettable, 5-star experience was the phenomenal staff. The team at the Ramble Hotel has a knack for making you feel right at home, and their friendliness and helpfulness know no bounds. A huge shoutout to Felix, Coco, and Nate, who were all so incredibly friendly and made every interaction a delight. Their positive energy was infectious! We were also incredibly impressed by Melissa, Matt, and Dawson, who went above and beyond to ensure our every need was met with a smile. It's rare to find such a lovely and personable team. The staff at Death and Co are also just delightful. Maddie and Eli were so lovely, ready with drink recommendations and genuine smiles. What a treat! The Ramble Hotel is a true gem, but the staff is its crown jewel. Their outstanding service and genuine warmth made us feel like honored guests, and for that, we can't recommend this hotel enough"

"Hotel rooms are very well done, and the bar / reception area is stellar. Easily the coolest hotel in Denver at the moment. The hotel is also located off Larimer Street, the beating heart of the gentrified RINO district (5 Points Area). The environs are decidedly “edgy” — but just blocks from a major homeless shelter, with many homeless persons around the hotel and the surrounding area (some of whom were mentally altered and aggressive). We opted to take Ubers at night when going West to downtown Denver as a result — and my wife generally didn’t feel safe walking around hotel area at night alone (and even in the day at times). The gym is tiny and there don’t appear to be proper gyms in the area with day passes. This is the main negative of the hotel itself. I personally loved the hotel and would stay again. My wife would not due to the perceived security issues and occasional harassment on the street."

"The Ramble Hotel offers a true boutique experience that exceeded all expectations. From the charming touch of real keys for the room to the genuinely attentive staff, it’s clear that they’re dedicated to creating a memorable stay for their guests. Our suite was spacious, beautifully designed, and decorated with such attention to detail. The wrap-around windows were a highlight for me—I loved watching the light change throughout the day and evening. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room provided plenty of seating with a sectional sofa and two chairs. I also appreciated the ultra-fast internet, which allowed me to work seamlessly for a few hours. I loved everything about our stay and will definitely return the next time I’m in Denver!"
