PB hotel design editorial

Planted at the base of Snowmass Village's Elk Camp Gondola, where the ski mountain meets the pedestrian plaza, the Limelight Hotel Snowmass arrived in 2019 as the anchor of a long-anticipated village redevelopment — a four-story structure clad in warm-toned local stone, red metal panel, and Douglas fir timber that borrows its massing vocabulary from mountain vernacular without retreating into rustic pastiche. Developed by Aspen Skiing Company's hospitality arm and designed to complement the original Limelight in Aspen, the 99-room property was conceived as a genuinely social hotel: the kind of place where the lobby functions as a living room for the village rather than a filtered anteroom for guests only. That communal instinct shapes everything inside. The lobby lounge deploys deep charcoal sectionals, Eames rocker chairs in tangerine, and a slatted wood ceiling threaded with industrial pendant clusters — a palette that leans contemporary and deliberately relaxed rather than trophy-lodge grand. Guest rooms carry the same even-handed warmth: white-oak case goods, upholstered headboards in pale linen-toned panels, herringbone-patterned carpet, and bright pop-art prints introducing color without demanding attention. Outside, a stone-surround fire pit terrace with woven rope chairs and low-slung lounge seating extends the gathering logic into the plaza, the Elk Camp Gondola terminal visible just beyond — close enough that the mountain, in every season, feels less like a backdrop than a continuation of the building itself.

"We had a great stay! Although it was quite expensive (spring break and ski season pricing), we will definitely return. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was very nice. It’s extremely family and pet friendly but still feels upscale and very clean! (A true accomplishment with kids and animals around!) The breakfast buffet was good and had lots of options. The Elk gondola is right outside the door & it’s a very short walk to the Sky Cab gondola or Village Express lift. It’s ski in as there’s a catwalk that goes right up to the door of the ski storage room where you access your gear. There are plenty of activities and amenities like live music, 2 large hot tubs, the outside seating with fire pits. They definitely designed with family friendly travel in mind. Will return!!"

"Great experience all around: my room was spacious, comfortable, quiet and with good supplies; the hotel has modern decor & clean; the staff were all friendly and helpful; and the location is super convenient to walk to the lifts, shops and restaurants at the base. The live music in the restaurant area some evenings added to the atmosphere. Great buffet breakfast."

"Limelight Snowmass is in the perfect location. Especially for young families who need to get to ski school. The lobby is very family friendly. There is a specific space just for children with games. We love the breakfast and the food offered at dinner is wonderful too! The rooms are spacious! We love the hot pool and climbing wall. It’s worth every penny to stay at the Limelight Snowmass."
