PB hotel design editorial

Stock Island sits just one mile northeast of Key West's famous Duval Street chaos, close enough to feel the energy of the Conch Republic but removed enough to remember that the Florida Keys were once primarily a working waterfront. Oceans Edge Key West Resort Hotel & Marina was purpose-built on this quieter stretch of shoreline, its three-story white clapboard buildings arranged around a marina basin in a vernacular that borrows from the island's historic Conch architecture — tiered balconies with Chippendale-style railings, louvered shutters, and a crisp white-on-white palette anchored by cobalt blue umbrellas and woven resin loungers at the pool deck. Inside, the 175 rooms carry the same restrained coastal register: deep navy diamond-patterned carpeting, white shaker-style millwork with louvered cabinet fronts, and beds dressed in white with navy-bordered linens. Large-format botanical canvases — close-cropped coconut palms painted in saturated greens — give the rooms their one gesture of tropicality. The balconies, most of them overlooking open water or the marina slips below, frame views of the Gulf and a distant Miami skyline that clarify exactly where you are. The marina-side restaurant, fitted with coffered tongue-and-groove ceilings, oversized plantation fans, and French bistro chairs in natural rattan, keeps the waterfront permanently in view through retractable canvas walls — a room that feels more like a well-appointed dock pavilion than a hotel dining room, which, in Key West terms, is precisely the point.

"Absolutely amazing from start to finish! Every staff member we encountered was kind, respectful, and genuinely helpful. The customer service was outstanding, and everyone went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. A special thank you to our receptionists, John and Patrick, who were absolute sweethearts and made our stay even more enjoyable. Our room was beautiful, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. The housekeeping team even set up the pullout couch for us. Unlike most pullout beds, it was sturdy and the mattress was surprisingly comfortable. We also appreciated the complimentary drinks we received upon arrival. Overall our stay so quiet and peaceful. Our concierge, Johnny, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and always happy to answer questions or offer recommendations. We also participated in several of the resort’s activities, where Andrew and Anela were our instructors. They were attentive, welcoming, and made sure we were comfortable and having a great time throughout each activity. The food at the Yellowfin was delicious to say the least and of course service was great. Overall, this was a 10/10 experience. I truly have no complaints and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for exceptional service and a relaxing stay!"

"Good service especially Mr. John at Front Desk, he gave us complimentary upgrade and 1 voucher, it made our anniversary trip more meaningful, very nice room, but they have construction next my room but it's not effect too much, still quiet. I love HILTON"

"We had a great time! Staff were very friendly, room was spacious, and lots of fun activities around the property. The location was great, about 15 minutes from Duval but the shuttle service was great, especially Jeff. Jeff gave great insight on the area and made everyone’s day - truly a great man and it was nice seeing him every night. There was construction going on but it didn’t interfere with anything."

"Overall very disappointing experience. Was very excited to bring both my family and had friends staying here as well. Gave the resort 4 rooms of business to celebrate my mother’s birthday and retirement. Started will checking in and not getting the rooms or views we booked but through all the communication given before and after our visit, nothing stated that the rooms we wanted wouldn’t be available due to construction and turnover to Hilton. Though very kind, the manager immediately comped our resort fees but I would have rather have stayed somewhere else than get my money back. Other things that weren’t up to standard: Larger shuttle not available so had to wait for shuttle, rooms not very clean, wash clothes weren’t available (had to call down each day, had to borderline beg to get an early check in and late check out wasn’t available, half the rooms are taken up by people who are working on the property, heard construction banging while at the pool, all pools not available, fees for some activities (example: Sign painting, which was made to seem like it was included in resort fees, housekeeping was rude! A gentleman knocked on my door once and walked in all in the time it took from me to walk from the sofa in the living space to the door. Also,I know you guys are changing over, but I would like to enjoy my breakfast and lunch without hearing meetings, do that somewhere else so guests don’t have to hear that stuff. Overall, probably one of the worse hotel and resort experiences i’ve had in a while. For future guests who have to stay through this nonsense, I would encourage your team whether Hilton or Oceans Edge to make sure your taking care and communicating with customers the changed. Especially since your choosing to do this during to height of the summer and during a holiday week! Last but not least, I will say THE STAFF was beyond phenomenal! Jon at the bar, John at check in, Patrick with bag help, the pool waitress working Saturday from 1-4…ALL amazing!!!!!! Hope you guys keep the staff around because that’s the BEST thing going for this place ."
