PB hotel design editorial

Embedded within Brickell City Centre — the $1.05 billion mixed-use development that Arquitectonica master-planned for Swire Properties across nine acres of Miami's financial district — EAST Miami sits inside a 39-storey tower that opened in 2016, giving Swire's lifestyle hotel brand its first North American address. The brief demanded that a hotel function credibly within a structure shared with residences, retail, and office floors, and the interior design team at Rockwell Group answered by calibrating each zone to a different register: guest rooms kept deliberately spare, the rooftop charged with atmosphere. The 352 rooms take their cues from the tower's curtain-wall logic — floor-to-ceiling glazing frames unobstructed views over Biscayne Bay and the downtown skyline, with wood-effect porcelain tile flooring, walnut-veneer headboard panels, and large-format photographic murals of open water providing warmth against the cool grey palette. The sculptural bronze-finished pendant lights visible throughout the rooms recur as a consistent design thread. Above it all, the Sugar rooftop bar pivots toward something far more seductive: darkened timber beam ceilings, a long black bar fronted with laser-cut metalwork screens in a geometric floral pattern, copper bucket pendants, and lounge seating in cognac leather and burnt orange velvet arranged against city-light panoramas. The pool terrace below, shaded by palm canopies and a tensile white canopy structure, punctuates the Brickell streetscape with an unexpected patch of tropical leisure inside an otherwise relentlessly vertical neighborhood.

"I really enjoyed my stay at East Miami in Brickell! It is such a stunning place. I reserved the corner 2 bedroom residence, so I was able to have a very nice view of the city and the spot was very spacious. 10/10 recommend this hotel/residence!!"

"Great hotel. Very central to transport and shopping centre. Lovely room. Not sure if I was just lucky but for such a busy location the room was quiet. Would stay here again. Loved the filtered water tap in room. Only negatives - breakfast was nice but expensive. Room quite dark and no Tea in room (they have coffee machine). Lovely pool area."

"I called ahead of time because traffic was building up ( miami downtown ) they change my res for 7:30. I arrived about 7:40 and they gave out my table. First impression horrible, no excuse nothing. They gave me the option to get another table for just 1hr. The moment we sat server started to ask us what we want to drink and eat very quickly because we knly have 10 min before she could put the food order for us. Xouldnt even reas the menu properly , very rush, i was celebrating my wedding annyversary of course i wanted to wnjoy the view and take a a nice rooftop picture, went to the other side of the place for wuxh view and a very rude security person took us out like we were commiting a felony, we pay top dollar for a rooftop experience and got a cheap version like any other restaurant. Try to order dessert and beacsue we got 10 min left she couldnr take our order. Guess our money was not important or needed . BY FAR THE WORST EXPERIENCE WE HAD AT ANY ROOFTOP . And trust me to been to multiple ."

"What an excellent hotel !!! Stayed here with my sister for 5 nights for July 4th weekend and absolutely amazing !!!! Excellent customer service and my god the views from here to downtown Miami are incredible. We stayed in room 3221 and was obsessed with the views from the balcony. The room was perfect only thing I wish it had was a microwave but aside from that this hotel room was perfect !!! Loved having breakfast everyday at Quinto, a special shoutout to Elizabeth who works at Quinto she was excellent!!! Also loved that the hotel was connected to Brickell City Center. Thank you East Miami for treating us so good !!!"

"I was incredibly impressed by the East building’s 1 br/2 ba residential unit in Brickell that I rented on Expedia. I needed it after traveling under hellish July 4 weekend conditions — I was exhausted and needed rest. This spot offered it to me — 4 star hotel accommodations — and it did not break the bank for me either. Price was reasonable, the security was tight, unit was completely brand new and fully modernized, lighting was automated, housekeeping was on point, and building was QUIET. Even the room service meals were excellent. Outplayed the W and many other top shelf hotels in Brickell. Will definitely be staying there again!"
