PB hotel design editorial

Where Naples Beach Hotel once stood for nearly eight decades as a beloved, slightly faded Florida institution, the Naples Beach Club, A Four Seasons Resort has risen on the same stretch of Gulf-front sand — a $1 billion redevelopment that carries an unusual weight of local memory alongside its ambitions as a contemporary luxury address. The new structure, designed by NBWW Architects, steps back from the shore in two cream-painted wings of six stories, their deep balconied facades and hipped rooflines borrowing from the Bermudian colonial vernacular that has long governed Old Naples's architectural imagination. Terracotta-tiled pavilion roofs at the beach club level add warmth at the lower volumes, breaking the massing before it meets the sand. Inside, the interiors — developed with a design sensibility attuned to Florida's coastal vernacular — layer bleached oak four-poster beds, woven rattan armchairs with coral accent cushions, and sisal rugs against shiplap-panelled walls painted in pale chalk whites, the rooms oriented almost entirely toward the Gulf. The beachfront restaurant deploys teak-veneered curved banquettes with blue upholstered seating, the vaulted white-painted ceiling structure open to glazed walls on three sides, framing the horizon as deliberately as any painting. Pool terraces planted with mature coconut palms and furnished with striped cabanas and stone-paved sundecks complete a property that channels the unhurried ease of classic Florida resort life without borrowing its nostalgia too heavily.

"Incredible property with amazing staff and beautiful, well thought-out spaces. My kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The guest experience team Mariana, Carla and David went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and give us a truly unforgettable experience! As a frequent flyer of the Four Seasons brand, we felt truly valued and pampered. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quick weekend getaway or a family vacation!"

"I would like to start by saying that the property itself is beautiful, and throughout our stay the staff was consistently friendly and welcoming. That said, I do feel the experience fell short of the standard I typically associate with Four Seasons. Upon arrival, we appreciated being offered welcome drinks; however, our two-year-old son did not receive the usual welcome toy that children are often given. Instead, there was a handwritten note left in the room, which felt a bit unusual for a toddler. I ultimately requested the toy at checkout, and he was then given the plush. Our initial room was also quite different from what was represented during booking. We had reserved a partial ocean view room, but the only visible ocean view was from the balcony itself. Unfortunately, the balcony overlooked ongoing construction noise and a large area of standing water, which significantly impacted the experience. Because of this, we chose to pay for an upgraded room and waited an additional night for it to become available. While the upgraded room had a stunning view, the air conditioning was not functioning properly. After spending roughly six hours in the room, multiple calls, and several unsuccessful repair attempts, we ultimately had to switch rooms at approximately 12:20 a.m. Moving rooms that late at night with a two-year-old was extremely inconvenient. Additionally, the replacement room appeared to have sand on the floor and did not have the same quality of view as the upgraded room we had paid for. Given the circumstances, I was surprised that there was no acknowledgment or gesture made regarding the disruption. After checking out, I also discovered billing issues on my portfolio. After reviewing the charges, I noticed that I had been overcharged. The associate I communicated with promptly confirmed the error and initiated a refund, which I appreciated. While reviewing the folio further, I also found charges associated with names I did not recognize. Receipts were provided, and it was confirmed that neither charge belonged to us. Those charges were refunded as well. I do want to note that the communication and responsiveness regarding these concerns were handled quickly and professionally, which I appreciated. Overall, none of these issues were necessarily deal breakers, and we will very likely return in the future. However, the number of inconveniences throughout the stay was disappointing and not what I expected from the Four Seasons experience. I understand the property is still relatively new and likely working through operational challenges, but I do believe there is room for improvement in both execution and guest recovery when issues arise."

"Amazing from check-in to check out. We booked through our Chase Sapphire Reserve card. This hotel is part of their Edit Collection so they offer a few perks. Free breakfast up to $120 which includes room service. We were upgraded to a Premier Ocean View Room the second day because the first day the hotel was at capacity due to Mother's Day. We were not too happy with the few from our original room (there is some construction going on next door) and the upgrade did not disappoint. We travelled with our two little dogs. They provided pet beds and bowls. The beach was beautiful and clean. There are two pools. We hung at the quiet adult pool. We never had a problem finding a seat at either. The service at the beach and pool was excellent. The staff came around throughout the day with little snacks and frozen wash cloths which felt great! Hotel is new, clean and beautiful. Balconies are spacious and furnished with a small couch and table and chairs. I enjoyed my coffee out there every morning. The gym was huge. They had everything you would need to get in a good workout including a fridge stocked with immunity shots and water. The staff cannot do enough. I could not get reservations at a local restaurant and the hotel hooked us up! They have a house car to take you to your destination but we used our own car. We are lucky to live less than 4 hours away so we will definitely be back."

"We were very excited to experience this new property, So many great places in Naples sadly this is not one of them ! Experience started with the valet informing us that there would be a 15,00 fee to valet our vehicle. We then proceeded to the outside bar to have a drink before our reservation at HB s. Always disappointed to have a weak drink when bartender uses a shot measure that is barely filled. Happy to pay for it but just make a good drink. Restaurant is a beautiful setting service was excellent, menu and food were mediocre at best. Property is spectacular, however much better experiences at the many exceptional Naples restaurants"
