PB hotel design editorial

Where Naples Beach Hotel once stood for nearly eight decades as a beloved, slightly faded Florida institution, the Naples Beach Club, A Four Seasons Resort has risen on the same stretch of Gulf-front sand — a $1 billion redevelopment that carries an unusual weight of local memory alongside its ambitions as a contemporary luxury address. The new structure, designed by NBWW Architects, steps back from the shore in two cream-painted wings of six stories, their deep balconied facades and hipped rooflines borrowing from the Bermudian colonial vernacular that has long governed Old Naples's architectural imagination. Terracotta-tiled pavilion roofs at the beach club level add warmth at the lower volumes, breaking the massing before it meets the sand. Inside, the interiors — developed with a design sensibility attuned to Florida's coastal vernacular — layer bleached oak four-poster beds, woven rattan armchairs with coral accent cushions, and sisal rugs against shiplap-panelled walls painted in pale chalk whites, the rooms oriented almost entirely toward the Gulf. The beachfront restaurant deploys teak-veneered curved banquettes with blue upholstered seating, the vaulted white-painted ceiling structure open to glazed walls on three sides, framing the horizon as deliberately as any painting. Pool terraces planted with mature coconut palms and furnished with striped cabanas and stone-paved sundecks complete a property that channels the unhurried ease of classic Florida resort life without borrowing its nostalgia too heavily.

"The property is absolutely beautiful and makes a fantastic first impression the moment you arrive. Everything is very well maintained and the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. The pool area is especially impressive—clean, inviting, and a perfect place to spend time unwinding. The drinks were also excellent, refreshing, and well-prepared, which made the time spent by the pool even more enjoyable. Overall, the property creates a great environment for guests to relax and have a great experience. As someone who reviews places on Yelp, I pay close attention to both the service and the overall experience, and I can honestly say I had an amazing time here. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality stood out. Geo and Marc, the doormen, were incredibly welcoming, professional, and attentive. They greeted guests with a friendly attitude and made everyone feel comfortable right away. Their professionalism and warm energy really set the tone for the entire visit. Raidel from the valet team also provided exceptional service. He was courteous, efficient, and handled everything with great care. The process of dropping off and retrieving the vehicle was seamless, and his professionalism and positive attitude truly stood out. It’s clear he takes pride in delivering excellent service. Together, Geo, Marc, and Raidel made the experience feel like true five-star hospitality. The property, the pool, the drinks, and the outstanding staff made this a memorable visit. I had an amazing time and would absolutely recommend this place to others."

"The rooms are very thoughtfully appointed. It is obvious much consideration, was taken in regarding comfort and practicality. Lots of storage for clothing and personal items in the bathroom. Lovely comfortable outdoor sofa on the balcony to enjoy the sunset. The gym is fantastic. Has everything one could desire when working out. Designed by Harley Pasternak. I couldn’t wait to work out each morning at this gym. The spa is a lovely oasis and thermal circuit that includes hot tub, cold plunge steam room, and ice room. Very spacious and inviting. I had a wonderful massage and 50 minute lifting facial which was surprisingly extremely effective. I always got a facial at Four Seasons hotels and this was one of the best. The Spa has an incredible piece of equipment called an Ammortal Chamber which utilizes red light therapy, PEMF, vibroacoustic therapy and guided meditation. One could spend all day at this spa. The Naples trading company is right under the gym and spa and super convenient to get your morning coffee or smoothies. Plus they have wonderful breakfast items and pastries and gelato. That looks incredible. The staff there was very accommodating and friendly. The Merchant Room it’s a beautiful dining room where we had an incredible dinner. The Porter House steak was delicious, but you have to try the creamed spinach with cheese. Sooo… good! HB seafood restaurant was also excellent. Be sure to get there before sunset so you can watch the sun go down. The views are just phenomenal. The beach is beautiful Pool menu is wonderful. We really enjoyed the smash burgers, the tuna bowl and of course pooloma’s! They bring you proper breakfast tray that makes it so much easier to eat your food at the pool or beach. I don’t know why other Four Seasons haven’t thought of this. There are some minor logistical issues that are part of the growing pains of opening such a large resort. I fully believe they are forgivable as this place is going to be everything once it’s fully complete. The best thing about this resort is the staff. It is obvious they took great care and choosing their employees and training them. They are all very happy to be working there and it shows. The resort is still partially under construction with an incredible kids club and golf course to come. Also, the residence side is still being built. There is noise from construction from that and from another building beside the resort. If you can get a room facing the pool as the noise is minimal there."

"We had an excellent five days at the three month old resort. Four Seasons does not Disappoint! Our room was beautiful, with an expansive balcony. The restaurants are all very good and service is exceptional. I have a lot of respect and appreciation for people in the service industry, especially hospitality at a high end hotel. The pools and beach are great, with plenty of chairs. The workers at the beach are exceptional, Porter, David, Spencer, all are hard working, aim to please and are very professional. In addition, Yulonda, who works at The Merchant Room, is amazing. I love Naples and we will be back! Keep up the good work, the staff is Amazing!"

"Construction of the building a little sub par . Huge space under the door so you heard everything going on in the hallway. Second night I put towels down to cover the gap. Once past the door it’s a generous space . Big Closet ,spacious bathroom and the balcony was a great size with An oversized loveseat and table /2chairs. We asked for turn down service the 2nd night. I was so sad when we got back to the room and all we had was curtains closed and some slippers next to the bed. I was really hoping for chocolate or sweet surprise. We ate at every dining venue, all a different vibe, food was very good at each place . Prices as expected for FS. The eggplant schnitzel at The merchant room was excellent and the rolls they brought before dinner were like my grandmas . Staff was excellent at all 3 restaurants. The beach staff was exceptional! Cons: You have to exit and Walk across the street for morning coffee and pastries. Beware! construction is still going on. We were awoken two mornings in a row with the fire alarm going on in the next building. It took over 30min to turn off. As another person noted no Dyson hair dryer. when you’re paying that much a night , disappointment with a basic dryer. Had a $13 charge for a bottle of water we never ordered or used in the room . Wasn’t worth the effort to fight it. But still made me mad, after spending $2000 a night. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The vibe is very quiet, upscale southern charm."

"The Sanctuary spa at the Four Seasons Naples is beautiful and an asset to the community. But here's what they need to work on: 1. There was no food or beverage service at the spa pool, which detracts significantly from the experience. 2. On the spa pool deck, there are not enough loungers for people, but there are plenty of chairs that no one uses. They should swap most of the chairs for loungers. 3. The locker room showers have minimal water pressure. This doesn't make sense because they have multiple high-pressure waterfall features in the co-ed section. People like to enjoy powerful showers. I can get low water pressure at home. 4. The spa's high-pressure waterfall shower should be like a thick fire hose-type stream, but it's just a narrow stream. 5. They automatically add 22% gratuity, which is crazy when they already charge $250 for a massage. 6. Their jungle gym has every other monkey bar installed upside down, which makes it impossible to use effectively. 7. The men's relaxation room is too bright and has a TV. How is that relaxing? 8. The outdoor spa pool is too cold. 9. There is no way to get from the south side of the pool to the gym because the door is locked. You have to go all the way around inconveniently. 10. You can't get from the 2nd floor gym to the 3rd floor check-in/locker rooms via elevator unless you have a passcard, which is crazy. What security purpose does this serve when there are other (less convenient) ways to get to the 3rd floor anyhow? It's a major annoyance for people who forgot their room key or are locals on a day pass without a key. 11. The cold plunge needs more grab bars apart from the small entrance railing. 12. The hot tub is very shallow (~3 feet). 13. The pool deck umbrellas have square bases that are very hard to move. 14. Would be nice if the gym had a vibration plate."
