PB hotel design editorial

Woven into the 1105 West Peachtree mixed-use development in Midtown Atlanta, a 16-story hotel connected by a landscaped Sky Terrace to a 31-story office tower and luxury residential block makes an unusual architectural argument: that a boutique hotel can function as the social spine of an entire urban district. Epicurean Atlanta, Autograph Collection, opened in 2021 and designed entirely by Atlanta-based Rule Joy Trammell + Rubio, earns that ambition through its outdoor sequence alone. The aerial photograph reveals a ground-level garden terrace threaded with lit pathways, mature plantings, string lights, and shaded dining structures tucked into the canyon between towers — an activated urban room that transforms what might have been dead podium space into the development's most inviting address. Inside, the culinary theme that defines the Epicurean brand finds material expression in butcher-block surfaces, brushed metals, and warm oak cladding that runs floor-to-ceiling as headboard walls in the 178 guest rooms. The double-height lobby bar is the more theatrical space: a cascade of slender brass rods falls from the ceiling above the bar counter, finished in dark stone with brass-legged stools, while a backlit perforated metal screen glows amber beside a double-sided fireplace. Patterned carpets in charcoal and cream ground the rooms without competing with the city views through full-height glazing. The pool deck, branded Aerial, brings coral-cushioned loungers and a wood-clad pool bar to the terrace level, oriented to catch the Midtown skyline above the water.

Epicurean Atlanta, Autograph Collection Reviews

"The Good: Hotel is nicely appointed and rooms are comfortable. Neighborhood is walkable and close to restaurants and bars. The Bad: I’ve had better front desk staff experiences at budget hotels. Staff was unhelpful, rude, and made everything arduous. The refused to answer basic questions such as “how much is breakfast?” And made the check in process take over 30 minutes while they struggled to charge our credit cards— 5 times in total. I was charged an additional $500 for two nights above what I paid for the room with no explanation. Won’t be returning."

"The hotel was beautifully designed with a theme of a vineyard. I standout with any establishment is the people. The staff from valet to concierge were exceptional. They greeted my family with a smile and were extremely personable yet professional throughout our stay. Kudos to Paul in valet and the man from Detroit can't recall his name who recommended stellar restaurants in the nearby area."

"This hotel has everything you would want in midtown. Great restaurants around and a walkable neighborhood. The room was well appointed and the bathroom larger than expected."

"Our room was nice and clean. However, the bathroom didn’t have an air vent or an exhaust vent. The shower had very low water pressure. There also wasn’t another mirror anywhere in the room, which made it difficult for 2 people to be ready for early AM appointments. There’s not a full length mirror anywhere. Also, the toilet room adjoins the shower/sink room, but there’s no door between them for privacy. On the positive side, there’s a fully stocked refrigerator, snack drawers with chips and other goodies, wine, liquor, and glasses for drinks in the room. Valet parking is $55.00."

"I loved this hotel! I received a warm welcome from front desk staff, who explained everything and offered a glass of wine upon arrival. My room was spotless, and well appointed. Bath area was spacious. There was even a comfortable bathrobe, the room had a Lilly coffee, tea carafe (both free) and lots of booze and snacks (all for a charge). From the 14th floor had a great city view. Sheryl at breakfast was very welcoming and removed my charge since the breakfast was slow. i had dinner downstairs in the pub area and it was delicious. Note that Bonvoy Elite members get a $20 per day breakfast credit (which covers a small amount of breakfast, and will have to pay the difference if over $20). I had a great stay and would choose the Epicurean again if I return to Atlanta."
