PB hotel design editorial

Rising twenty-six floors above Buckhead's tree-lined midrise skyline, the limestone-clad tower that houses the St. Regis Atlanta presents an unusual proposition: Beaux-Arts classicism pushed to considerable height, its mansard roofline, arched fenestration, and applied ornamental detailing borrowed from the Parisian grand hotel tradition and transplanted to one of America's wealthiest suburban corridors. Opened in 2009 and designed by the Atlanta office of HKS Architects, the 151-room building carries its historical references with enough conviction that the exterior, particularly at dusk when the facade glows amber against the Georgia sky, sidesteps pastiche and arrives somewhere closer to genuine civic presence. The interiors sustain that ambition across registers. Public rooms like the bar — its tufted leather Chesterfields, orb pendant lanterns in wrought iron, and floor-to-ceiling wine storage framed in rusticated limestone arches — establish a clubby, transatlantic warmth that anchors the building's formal language at human scale. Guest rooms, refreshed in a subsequent renovation, balance that classical shell with a cleaner contemporary sensibility: chevron-veneered walnut credenzas on brass legs, upholstered headboards with sculpted wave detailing lit from behind, and burnt orange accent pieces that keep the palette from tipping into blankness. The elliptical pool terrace below, enclosed by arched stone loggias and dressed in red-and-white striped cabana furniture, completes the picture — a studied Mediterranean courtyard that somehow makes sense in the Georgia heat.

The St. Regis Atlanta Reviews

"Beautiful property, but my Ambassador Elite experience at The St. Regis Atlanta was extremely disappointing. I want to be fair at the start. The hotel itself is beautiful. The setting, pool piazza, terrace atmosphere, fountain, and overall feel of the property are exactly why someone books a St. Regis. When the experience is right, it really does feel special. I was also ultimately placed into a Metropolitan Suite on one of my stays, and that room was excellent. The problem was everything it took to get there. During mobile check in, the Marriott app showed that I had been selected for a suite upgrade. Before arrival, the property manually moved me down because that suite type was apparently not actually available. I understand that complimentary elite upgrades are subject to availability, but from the guest side the app created a clear expectation and then the property delivered something different. That made mobile check in feel misleading rather than helpful. The more frustrating part was the explanation I received at the property. I was told upgrades were effectively limited to one room category above what I booked. That was difficult to understand because my understanding of the Bonvoy Enhanced Room Upgrade benefit is that upgrades may include suites, subject to availability. At the same time, multiple suite categories were showing available for sale, which made the explanation even harder to reconcile. To be clear, my issue is not that every Ambassador guest should automatically receive a suite. My issue is that the upgrade benefit felt far more discretionary and difficult to access than it is marketed to be. Ambassador Service seemed to understand why the situation was frustrating, but at the property level it felt like I had to escalate, check live inventory, and repeatedly ask for clarification just to get the room reviewed properly. That is not the seamless luxury experience I expected from St. Regis. At this level, I expect the property to be polished, proactive, and consistent, especially when handling Ambassador Elite arrivals. Instead, the process felt defensive and unnecessarily difficult. There were parts of the stay that were excellent. The property is beautiful, some staff members were polite, and the Metropolitan Suite experience was genuinely memorable once I finally got there. But the arrival experience, upgrade handling, mobile check in confusion, and communication around elite benefits left a very poor impression. I would only stay here again if I booked the exact room category I wanted outright. I would not rely on mobile check in messaging or elite upgrade handling at this property."

"For the caliber of hotel I was expecting, there were some inadequacies. Prime to this was that the check in time is 4 pm. Upon arriving at 4:40 pm, I was told the room wasn't ready because it was awaiting housekeeping. It seemed like other people had the same issue (but conversely, I saw people arriving after me who got their room). Check-in staff told me it would be 15 mins wait, but that time came and passed. At 5 pm, I approached the desk and asked them to please try to find me any room as I was running late to a meeting. Also, the tub had a hair (not mine) when I entered the room. For business travelers, having the room ready at the available check in time feels table stakes."

"I was in desperate need of a reboot and decided to book a Spa day at the St.Regis. I must say from the moment I arrive the experience felt welcoming, relaxing, and thoughtful. Curated. Jeffrey, who checked me in was simply amazing. His warm and professional demeanor immediately set the tone for my stay it made me feel genuinely welcomed. Breakfast the next morning was another highlight. Greeted by Mimi and served by Jia was absolutely amazing gracious attentive, and genuinely kind. She recommended the chicken and waffles omg it was soooo good! At the spa. Jackqeen checked me in and made the entire process seamless I arrive for my spa treatment a few hours early to enjoy the sauna which is where I met Maddie, who was so wonderful she guided me through my spa experience with such care and attentiveness ensuring that everything felt comfortable, relaxing and truly special my time with Aaron, my massage therapist who was absolutely incredible his skill and calming presence made my experience truly restorative. I just wish I booked more time. Every team member I encountered during my stay was smiling and happy creating an atmosphere that felt both luxurious and welcoming, but most important I am not sure who is responsible for assigning rooms but whoever you are thank you thank you and thank you again for 830 you are the bomb in the room was amazing In many ways it felt like 24 hours in paradise. I left feeling refreshed and incredibly grateful for the experience, it was exactly the reset I needed. St. Regis thank you for the extraordinary standards and this visit was perfectly reminder of why I will choose you again and again!"

"Amazingly beautiful rooms. Service is decent but not amazing. Housekeeping needs to be trained a little better."

"A short drive from the Peachtree/Dekalb Airport after some cold weather, strenuous work, We needed this relaxing, comfy two night stay before we head home to Sunny warm Florida. We stayed here during Covid over five years ago. Pretty much the same. Nice clean, comfy room, relaxing bed, awesome shower, great lobby bar, supreme service and hospitality by all. We dine in the hotel restaurant for breakfast and for dinner once and We dined next door at Chops for our second evening. Great hotel, terrific valet parking who did accommodate our large oversized van. We will be back!!!"
