PB hotel design editorial

At 400 feet and 35 stories, the curved glass tower that houses Raffles Boston Back Bay Hotel & Residences announced itself on the Back Bay skyline in 2023 as something the city hadn't seen before — a double-cantilever structure designed by The Architectural Team that essentially floats its upper mass above Copley Square. That engineering ambition sets the tone for everything inside. Stonehill Taylor handled the hotel's guestrooms and public spaces, and the range is considerable: standard rooms layer warm oak floors, channeled leather headboards, and deep-toned walnut millwork in a palette that feels more Manhattan than Massachusetts, while the suite category pushes further with a burnished gold arched headboard surround flanked by dark marble nightstands — theatrical without tipping into excess. The property's sky lobby, spanning floors seventeen through nineteen, is where the tower's structural drama becomes fully legible. The rooftop bar, dressed by Studio Paolo Ferrari in channeled emerald velvet banquettes and sculptural multi-arm pendants with milk-glass diffusers, frames panoramic views of the Charles River and Boston Harbor at a scale that few hotel rooms in the city can match. Below, the Rockwell Group-designed spa includes a lap pool set beneath a double-height void, its dark concrete and polished ceiling reflecting the water in a quietly cinematic way. As the first Raffles property in North America, it carries the brand's colonial-era legacy into a building that is unambiguously of this decade.

Raffles Boston Reviews

"I love hotels that pay attention to the details, especially the smallest details about their guests. I can honestly say that the staff at this hotel, at every level, pay attention to the details, all the details. They truly go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. This is just a small example. I noticed something different about Raffles on my arrival. The check-in is on the 17th floor. We took the elevator to 17 and were greeted AT THE ELEVATOR by a staff member who welcomed us using our names. I appreciated that. This staff member showed us to his desk where we were then seated. We were asked if we wanted coffee, tea or something else to drink while we checked in. So, we said "yes" - AND they brought tea and coffee to the desk for us. Although we were new to the hotel, this made us feel quite welcome and comfortable. We were then introduced to our "butler," who became our personal contact at the hotel for anything we might need or want. Our butler texted us every morning to see if he could help us in any way. We stayed in text communication with him throughout our stay. What a difference between Raffles and the many others I have stayed at in Boston and elsewhere in the world. Congratulations, Raffles! This is how a hotel should be run. I’ll be back to Raffles again, hopefully quite often."

"Raffles Boston is incredible. They have successfully created a blissful experience from the moment you arrive, to the moment you leave. The combination of incredible hospitality, beautiful interiors, well-thought-out amenities, and great food; this hotel does not disappoint. There is truly not one area for improvement. Additionally, the front desk (especially Rey) and the housekeeping team are amazing at this hotel. Every time we left our room, we returned to a completely refreshed or turned-down room with ample water and towels. Rey at the front desk is truly a star. He is the exact representation that Raffles wants. Rey is kind, helpful, caring, and extremely pleasant. There is no doubt that Rey's efforts helped push this experience over the top. Thank you Rey!"

"A fantastic stay & experience! Raffles Boston knows hospitality. It was my friend and my 2nd annual birthday stay, and it couldn’t have been better! From Cynthia’s warm greeting & surprise Prosecco toast to our birthdays on check in, to Kieran’s attention to detail as our Butler, to David upon check out, the team showed their care and then some! On top of this, it was our first time to the spa - what a spectacular treat! We cannot wait to go back, the beautiful spa rooms, amenities and of course the 90-minute deep tissue massage left us on cloud 9. Thank you Raffles Boston, can’t wait to see you soon!"

"A wonderful, warm stay with friends! From the arrival experience to the guided tour by our butler to drinks in two of the hotels on property establishments, every detail was executed to perfection! We only wish it were longer than a one night stay. Before we checked out, we all agreed we cannot wait to go back!"

"This hotel is beautiful and and such a treat to experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel so welcomed and special. The room was really thoughtfully designed and comfortable, and the Guerlain bath products were heavenly. I ordered private dining to my room, which arrived quickly and was delicious. The location in Back Bay was perfect for exploring and experiencing nearby restaurants, shopping and parks. I really loved my stay and I will definitely be back!"
