PB hotel design editorial

At 400 feet and 35 stories, the curved glass tower that houses Raffles Boston Back Bay Hotel & Residences announced itself on the Back Bay skyline in 2023 as something the city hadn't seen before — a double-cantilever structure designed by The Architectural Team that essentially floats its upper mass above Copley Square. That engineering ambition sets the tone for everything inside. Stonehill Taylor handled the hotel's guestrooms and public spaces, and the range is considerable: standard rooms layer warm oak floors, channeled leather headboards, and deep-toned walnut millwork in a palette that feels more Manhattan than Massachusetts, while the suite category pushes further with a burnished gold arched headboard surround flanked by dark marble nightstands — theatrical without tipping into excess. The property's sky lobby, spanning floors seventeen through nineteen, is where the tower's structural drama becomes fully legible. The rooftop bar, dressed by Studio Paolo Ferrari in channeled emerald velvet banquettes and sculptural multi-arm pendants with milk-glass diffusers, frames panoramic views of the Charles River and Boston Harbor at a scale that few hotel rooms in the city can match. Below, the Rockwell Group-designed spa includes a lap pool set beneath a double-height void, its dark concrete and polished ceiling reflecting the water in a quietly cinematic way. As the first Raffles property in North America, it carries the brand's colonial-era legacy into a building that is unambiguously of this decade.

Raffles Boston Reviews

"We haven’t even arrived at Raffles Boston yet, and the level of care and attention we’ve received already has been truly exceptional. From the moment we made our reservation, the team has gone above and beyond to make sure everything is thoughtfully arranged for our upcoming stay. Their communication, attention to detail, and genuine willingness to accommodate our requests have made us feel incredibly welcomed before we’ve even walked through the doors. It’s rare to experience this level of personalized service before a stay even begins. The team has been proactive, attentive, and incredibly gracious, making sure that every detail will be taken care of and that our family’s visit will be truly special. A very special thank you to Christina, Kieran, Tomas, Maxwell, Lily, Kenza, Bruno, Titus, and the entire Butler Team. Each of you has contributed to making our pre-arrival experience feel so personal and memorable. Your thoughtfulness and professionalism have already made a wonderful impression on our family. We are now even more excited about our upcoming stay at Raffles Boston. If the pre-arrival experience is any indication of what’s to come, we have no doubt it will be an unforgettable visit. Thank you to the entire Raffles Boston team for making us feel so valued even before our arrival. We truly appreciate it and look forward to seeing you next week!"

"My Family recently stayed at Raffles Boston and it was an incredible experience. We came to celebrate our child's birthday and every expectation was met and exceeded. The staff, concierge and butler treated our children impeccably and made the whole stay and experience fun and turn-key. Our Butler, Kenza even left matching Raffles Backpacks with water bottles for both of the boys on our bed upon arrival as well as some stuffed animals to play with. Service and kindness - TOP NOTCH and not to be missed."

"Raffles Boston is Amaazing! Probably our #1 in the US. The property, rooms, location is absolutely top notch. However, the most amazing part of this hotel is the service and attention to detail. Every staff member (front desk, bell desk, housekeeping, Contessa, Blind duck, Spa) were among the best we have ever interacted with at a hotel. Attention to detail - when we reached our room after lunch (and post check in), not only were all bags already in the room but both suitcases were on luggage rack and a carry on was on luggage rack too. They went and got extra luggage racks and put our suitcases on it while we were not even there - that to me is amazing service. This level of detail prevailed everywhere - from making sure food orders were executed perfectly, super high quality, being check on and on and on. We also stayed at Boston Harbor hotel on this trip and visited Raffles, MO and The Newbury before choosing Raffles. Now, having experienced Raffles, do t bother evaluating anything else"

"This exceptional hotel is conveniently located in the Back Bay Area, just a short walk from renowned luxury stores. Upon entering, guests are enveloped in a warm and welcoming ambiance. I visited for a massage and high tea, and the experience was nothing short of transformative. The decor evokes the elegance of the Art Deco era, creating a serene and soothing atmosphere. For the high tea, the setting exudes opulence and sophistication. The hotel boasts an outdoor terrace that serves as a dining area for their restaurant, offering breathtaking views. The spa, situated on the lower level, is highly recommended for a rejuvenating massage. It is an essential experience for any guest. The hotel is pet-friendly and welcomes service dogs. We intend to return to this establishment in the future."

"We did an overnight for a 60th birthday celebration. I let the hotel know in advance and they took care of every detail. We had a welcome glass of champagne at check in, and a small birthday cake in our room with a Happy 60th Birthday message. The Guerlin spa was amazing, so tranquil and a perfect way to spend the afternoon along with the indoor pool and hot tub with windows looking out over the city. Dinner at La Padrona was incredible with outstanding food and service. We finished the evening with a nightcap at the Blind Duck. The hotel staff is amazing, attentive and personable and our butler was very helpful with any last-minute requests as well. We finished our stay with a delicious breakfast on the outdoor terrace at the Long Bar and a coffee/snack to go from Cafe Pastel. The rooms are beautiful with every possible amenity and very quiet (no corridor noise). We can't wait to go back, one of our best stays in Boston and at the top of our list for a truly special property. I wish we could have stayed longer - If you have not visited put it on your "must stay" list."
