PB hotel design editorial

At the corner of Stuart and Charles Streets, where Boston's Theater District pushes up against the Back Bay grid, a purpose-built glass tower designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects gave W Boston a vertical profile that few lifestyle hotels in the city can match when seen from the street at dusk — the curtain-wall facade lit from within, the podium base wrapped in warm bronze-toned glazing that catches the blur of passing traffic below. The 235 rooms, spread across 26 floors, were conceived with a palette that pulls in two directions at once: the guest rooms deploy lacquered black coffered headboard walls against dark-stained wood floors and indigo-striped rugs, a mid-century cabinet geometry given an editorial edge by brushed steel nightstands and tufted wingback chairs positioned at floor-to-ceiling windows. The brand's signature Living Room lounge, visible in the images, resolves into something more theatrically charged — draped chain-mail columns descending from a double-height ceiling, blue and violet theatrical lighting washing the glazed facade behind low velvet sectionals clustered around an open fire table, the whole atmosphere closer to a film set than a hotel bar. The ground-floor restaurant takes an altogether lighter tone, with slatted timber ceilings, suspended greenery, and industrial Tolix-style chairs that invite longer afternoons. It is a property that wears its context lightly but wears its brand identity with full conviction.

"Having stayed at the W Boston twice now I feel comfortable/confident (comfidant?) to write a review, that is more than a single experience. I've stayed at a couple of W's now and the Boston expression is probably exactly what the brand was shooting for in an urban setting. It's "hip". The lobby bar is good enough, but is definitely meant for people a bit more "good looking" than myself, but hey that's alright. The breakfast restaurant again is fine. Special? No, memorable...also no. But it is serviceable and you'll be fine having breakfast on property. Location...since I never actually have a destination in Boston and have stayed both times simply to walk around downtown in the afternoon and then head to BOS in the morning it's been fine. Oh, you're right next to ChinaTown so you wouldn't be amiss to head over there for a late lunch/early dinner. Rooms are without a doubt the star of the Boston W. Again...the rooms are quite "hip" but the bed is super comfortable....with the marked exception of that bench at the foot of the bed that I am sure 70%+ of guests are going to bark their shins on every stay. Since I've stayed twice I'll say that the views are....the worst part of the room. A brick office building across the street. Maybe if you're not facing Stuart St it's a different story. Although I did have a corner room that looked a bit east that was significantly better. Service. Eh....I'm not handsome enough to be the target audience. So I dunno. Bored indifference I suppose is a vibe."

"This was my first visit to Boston. This location was excellent. Everything was really close by or within walking distance. The trolly is a block away. The train/subway is about 2 blocks away. Chinatown is a few blocks away. Boston Commons Park is also a few blocks away. Always something going on there. Others have said the hotel is quite loud outside. Ambulance sirens, club music on weekends, and traffic noise. True but if you have ear plugs, the noise is reasonable. We did not have a problem with noise. The rooms are big. The beds were better that most hotels. Comfy. Our view was the main street. The staff was very helpful and courteous. They treat you very well. The Concierge, Emanuele Abbrancati, was awesome. We used his knowledge and recommendations multiple times. He was spot on every time. What to do, where to go, where to eat, he knew it all. Use him, you will not be sorry. This was a great hotel for a few nights stay. Very safe. Clean. Great staff. We got what we paid for. I recommend this place highly."

"First stay at a W property in years as I am a Hilton Diamond guy. We stayed at the Doubletree Downtown Boston before our two week cruise to Canada and were very disappointed. On the other hand we thought the W, located in the Theater District was spot on . Front desk customer service was above and beyond Including the Concierge, The on site restaurant was quite nice, Our room was on the 12th floor and was clean, large and comfortable. They call their staff STARS and we found this to be a fitting name, The only negative thing to report was the room is very noisy on a Saturday night. When the clubs close the crowds get loud and kept us from a good nights sleep, A great property with a wonderful staff. Will stay here again if we visit Boston another time ."

"This was our fifth time staying at the W Boston and there are many reasons why, 1) high energy and great staff. Special shout out to the concierge team. Jean -Paul and Emanuel helped planned several special dinners for our graduation celebrations. They went beyond to ensure that we had great places to dine during this really busy season. 2) The location is ideal 3) the room was spacious and bright I could go on but I am running out of characters! Great place to stay m Boston!"

"W is in a good location for seeing the sights . Service is limited, breakfast wasn't the best to be honest, drinks in bar very pricey. Our rom was beautiful however and kept spotlessly clean on a daily basis. We were located room 809 and although a beautiful room it was really noisy with the constant drone ( that's sounds quiet ) it certainly wasn't. It kept us awake every night."
