PB hotel design editorial

Spread across 37,000 acres of Montana ranchland in the Blackfoot River valley — the same corridor that inspired Norman Maclean's A River Runs Through It — the Resort at Paws Up makes its central argument through scale and setting rather than architectural gesture. The main lodge complex is built in the vernacular of a working cattle ranch: steep rust-coloured metal roofs, rubble-stone chimneys anchoring the corners, heavy timber post-and-beam framing, and covered verandas stepping down toward open meadows ringed by ponderosa pine. A sunken fire pit ringed with Adirondack chairs anchors the grounds between structures, the kind of unpretentious gathering point that signals the property's commitment to the experiential over the ceremonial. The accommodation spans permanent cabins and luxury glamping tents, and the interiors shift register between the two. Cabin rooms carry reclaimed wood wainscoting with nailhead-trimmed window surrounds, wide-plank pine floors, painted armoires, and Navajo-inflected striped textiles in ochre, rust, and sage. The glamping tents push further into frontier theatre — multicoloured reclaimed-board feature walls, cowhide throws, Kilim-patterned rugs, and crystal chandeliers hung from canvas ceilings — a combination that lands somewhere between a prospector's camp and a Wes Anderson set. The open-air riverside dining deck, framed by unpeeled timber columns with the Blackfoot River running past, grounds the whole enterprise in genuine Montana landscape rather than facsimile of it.

"Paws Up is Fabulous, Superb, Fantastic, Heavenly in every respect. This place is especially for those who love the outdoors but not all the work that goes into setting up the tent, stove, gathering firewood, cooking meals, packing light, hauling gear onto a camp site, going without hot water/shower, fixing a flat bike tire etc, etc, etc.... As Father Time has taken his toll on me I enjoy being pampered....Guilty your Honor!!! It would be easier to list those Staff Member who were not stellar than to list all of the staff who went out of their way to make this one of our TOP OUTDOOR ADVENTURES to date. (Hint: They were ALL STELLAR) A special shout out nonetheless to Jeff Peterson our fly fishing guide from Chico Cali....you go homeboy!!! We laughed so hard, had so much fun, caught fish, exchanged stories like old friends. So much so that we lost track of time...OOPS got back way late. To Jeff's Boss: GIVE THIS GUY A RAISE!!!! Another shout out to Abby our hiking and sound bath guide. She was knowledgeable, kind, soft-spoken and fun! Marianna and Gaston: THANK YOU so very much for making us feel at home. You guys went out of your way to say hello, exchange stories, impart knowledge and enjoy some great cuisine. Tiffany, thanks for attending to our EVERY need, especially the fly fishing ties! Moran, Logan,Adriana, Ambar, Kristina, Eduardo, Sergio, Spence and everyone else working during our stay, THANK YOU ! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! The staff, the experience, the lodge, meals, tours, accommodations, scenery are truly phenomenal. You made us feel like family, like we were the only ones at the lodge. We are planning our next family vacation as I write this review."

"Paws Up exceeded every expectation I had! Riverside glamping with luxurious bedding and spacious bathrooms (with heated floors) made for the perfect landing spot at the end of our active days! Horseback riding lessons and cattle drive were highlights from our trip. Phenomenal food and landscape made for a weekend we will never forget. The pavilion right outside our tent had wonderful breakfast and snacks all day. Along with helpful staff to answer questions and help us map out our day! Several dining options made me wish we were there a few more nights to try them all!"

"Dream vacation for a family who travels a lot, seasonal staff is getting up to speed but this is a dream come true and not like any place in the world. Don't try and compare it, this is one of the best resorts in the world."

"I was impressed by the location, energized by the experiences and blown away by the service and staff. This is not a trip I could ever do personally, so I made point to enjoy the full experience. The "camp" I stayed in was nicer than most hotel rooms; heated bathroom floor?! There was endless activities, I still am not sure I am aware of most of them, but loved the horseback riding, UTVs and rafting. The food was incredible, from breakfast to dinner there was variety and quality in every bite. Our entire group is now Huckleberry converts. What really nailed the experience for me was the staff. I made a point to ask our camp manager to collect the names so I can include them in my review. They were polite, enthusiastic and the small personal touches they added made this a trip I can't forget. So, thank you for your excellent service: - Butlers: Anna, Kate, Jordan Ambar, Kristina, Satria - On demand driver: Cael - Chef: Carolina - Housekeeping: Mike, Vicki, Jazmin - Camp Managers: Tiffany, Grace, Alyssa"

"This is our second trip and while there are many things we love about the resort there are some annoyances that should not occur given the very high cost of a stay. What we absolutely love!! The staff… Extremely helpful and friendly… We loved Gabby she exudes happiness and in addition to her many responsibilities at the Social Haus seems to be responsible for lots more at The GreenO… Jackie at the equestrian center.. has the best personality to be running the place.. made a very memorable cattle drive hands down our favorite activity. Lily who had the patience of a saint rearranging our activities! Jarod in the dining room. The activities guides all terrific and knowledgeable The activities Loved the Cattle Drive.. RTV Trip…Rafting trip… Lots to do.. The environment .. stunning and peaceful .. so beautiful..fantastic well laid out hiking trails! The Activities Center.. great selection of apparel and merchandise The Culinary Experience at The Green O!! Andrew, the executive chef and Harris his assistant are two wonderful amazing creative chefs. Their food is next level , so creative ,each night presents a different tasting menu with varied ,seasonable and interesting dishes. The pastry chef ‘s creativity knows no bounds. The wine selection was fabulous ,very high-end . The culinary experience makes the Green O what it is and made the visit worthwhile. The atmosphere in the dining room is cozy and welcoming. While our room , Round Haus 9 was cozy ( great robes, nice amenities.. amazing view from the bed of the forest ..there was no overhang outside..it rains frequently and the outdoor furniture was always wet.. The not so great… The pick up .. while it’s a nice service .. we had to wait at the airport for almost an hour for a couple and their luggage arriving on a different flight On the departure we had to travel to a different part of the resort and wait for twenty minutes for a group who were clearly not ready!! If we knew this we would have taken an Uber.. Housekeeping is the biggest problem. Provided once a day and if it’s late in the afternoon ie after 2 which was often the case they put the non automatic blinds( 15 separate ones) down despite frequent requests not to Dirty rags left in the room, refrigerator left open.. The overriding problem is that there is no General Manager of the Green O which is unheard of at a luxury resort.general unheard if at a Luxury Resort"
