PB hotel design editorial

Seventeen years passed between groundbreaking and opening day — a timeline that became its own Las Vegas legend. Fontainebleau Las Vegas finally rose to completion in December 2023, a 67-story, 737-foot curtain-wall tower designed by Carlos Zapata Studio that now holds the distinction of being the tallest occupiable building in Nevada. The deep blue glass skin catches the desert sky differently at every hour, and at night the illuminated crown reads like a beacon anchoring the northern Strip. The $3.7 billion project delivers 3,644 rooms across a scale that demands a design team commensurate with its ambition — Carlos Zapata handled the exterior architecture alongside executive architect Bergman Walls and Associates, while the interiors were divided among David Collins Studio, Rockwell Group, Lissoni and Partners, and Jeffrey Beers International. The collective result draws its visual grammar from Morris Lapidus and the original Fontainebleau Miami Beach — bow-tie motifs, a signature palette of blue, silver, and coral, and mid-century modern curves translated into contemporary hospitality language. Guest rooms show the Collins Studio hand clearly: arched upholstered headboards in deep navy, brass disc wall sculpture, geometric carpet, and floor-to-ceiling views across the valley. Suites step up to antique-mirror wardrobes, amber glass chandeliers, and warm oak floors. Rockwell Group brings characteristic energy to the food and beverage spaces, where living green walls, cedar ceilings, and cascading brass sculptural pendants fill the restaurants. The pool district, shaped by Jeffrey Beers International, pulls the whole project toward its Miami heritage — white tensile canopies, blue-striped loungers, and a vast free-form pool that somehow makes the desert feel coastal.

"Not all regular rooms are the same. In January I was on the 27th floor. This month in April I was on the 55th floor. The 55th floor room felt much smaller. If you want to sleep, then ask for the mountainside view. The traffic will be diminished and the lights won't be as bright from the strip. Toiletries have a very strong musky smell to them. So if you don't like that, then bring your own. Dental kit includes marvis branded toothpaste and mouthwash. Deep bathtub. No spa jets. Room includes Robe and slippers. You will have to call in for a dental kit and shave kit. Food Hall is top notch. Hand rolls from Bar Ito are my fave (always get it to go, so you get it served in the cute bento box) Restaurants in this hotel are excellent and mimic those from New York and Los Angeles. Since the hotel is so new, it does not yet reek of smoke. There are several bars in the property that offer wonderful libations. Nowhere is a nice retreat and offers a live band every night... Which is extremely rare these days in Vegas doesn't have a lounge act in a lounge. This hotel is easily one of my top three in Las Vegas. I know people complain about the distance from the middle of the strip. However that is what Ubers and taxis are for. Also this hotel now includes a Tesla loop station. Location is EXTREMELY convenient to the LVCC West Hall."

"Me and my girls were celebrating for a bachelorette party. When researching for package we chose Fontainebleau with West Jet Vacations as it was the newest 5 stars property along the strip and it also provides a $150 dining credit when you stay for 3 nights. We were excited as we wanted to use the credit for the dinner at mother wolf (it was amazing by the way) and treat the bride. We arrived late on April 9 and checked in around 1130pm. Jason at the front was nice and even gave us recommendation. I was tired at the time and went back to the room after check in. When reviewing my confirmation later I realized that in my package I should get a $150 credit and didn’t know why it wasn’t mentioned upon check in. I then went back to the reception desk at April 10 115am and spoke to a long straight hair blonde lady with glasses and asked. She just reviewed my booking and said yes she didn’t see the credit but she would honoured it and add to my room. I then took her word, didn’t even ask for the name and went to bed. In the morning I decided to go back to reception desk at 830am just to make sure my credit was added so I won’t be upsetting my party. I spoke to Desiree and she told me credit was not added. I then explained the situation and she escalated to Julie. Julie the supervisor not listening to my concern simply told me that the credit was not included and told me to speak to west jet. I then said your rep at 115am already told me she would honoured it and she said there was no notes. She then said she would talk to the food and beverage department but she would also be leaving at 3pm so someone else might be handling the issue. Me left upset and decided to skip the gym and called west jet immediately. The west jet rep then told me my credit was clearly written on page 3 of my confirmation with the following details: Receive 150 USD food and beverage credit. Credit has no cash value and will expire upon check out. There is no cash reimbursement if unused. For complete details, please consult the front desk at check in. Food and beverage credit is issued per room per stay. West jet told me to talk to the front desk and show them the confirmation again. At 930am I went back to Julie, send her the confirmation screen shot pertaining to the package and she said she would call me back. At 130pm she called back and said there was no credit. I then asked who I could speak to when I return as I was eating at the time and would miss her shift. She said manager Eric or Andrew. I returned around 530pm now in complete stress and day ruined. This time spoke to Nicole the supervisor and again she said no credit and talk to west jet. I said I was here to speak to Andrew or Eric and I also showed her my confirmation stating what was included. 20 mins later she came back saying Andrew would only honour $100 and asked me to contact west jet again. At that time, I was almost in tears. I didn’t understand how a normal front desk person can upgrade a room, when after speaking to 3 staffs, 2 supervisors and 1 manager who never even spoke to me once could not even honour a $150 credit where it was clearly stated on the confirmation. Everyone was telling me to talk to another party and I was stuck in the middle. Nobody took responsibility when the first rep already told me she was adding it at 115am. This was a lie by Fontainebleau and nobody would dare to address that. I felt little and ashamed. I didn’t do a good job in picking the right hotel and failed my party. If this is Michelin standard I think the staffs need serious training. I will never go back nor recommend this hotel to anyone."

"If u want a champagne breakfast and a Cartier watch this is the place for you. If you want coffee in the morning, you might as well walk to McDonald’s across the street. 2 places had coffee in the morning both with long lines… Like rest of Vegas no shortage of gouging here. 13.00 beers are the norm. The sportsbook is an embarrassment. They have like 5 tables to sit at but the craziest idea is the fact they decided to go with an upscale restaurant as their sportsbook deli. No waitress , no cocktail service in the book. Go to the restaurant for a 13.00 beer. Not to mention they have kiosks there that useless because it’s dark and u can’t even see where to put your money or players card. U need a players card to bet at the kiosks. Bet a 940 am baseball game…had to ask them to get the game up on the screen It was second inning. Re runs and other junk on the screens but no live game. That’s unheard of. The location of this place is horrible… The pool was nice but that’s bout it. This place is not a casino it’s an upscale Boutique upscale shopping mall with ultra expensive restaurants and a few blackjack tables. Still can’t get over the sportsbook If you want to buy a diamond this place is awesome …"
