PB hotel design editorial

Converted from a tower within the Mandalay Bay resort complex on the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip, the Delano Las Vegas repurposed an existing MGM Resorts property when it relaunched in 2014 — carrying a brand name with considerable design pedigree. The original Delano South Beach, opened in 1995 and transformed by Philippe Starck for Ian Schrager, established a template for irreverent, all-white interiors set against maximalist surroundings. The Las Vegas iteration translates that sensibility into 1,117 all-suite rooms distributed across 43 floors of gold-glazed curtain wall that catches the desert light at dusk in the images here, the tower's bronzed reflective skin shifting from amber to deep copper as the sun drops behind the Spring Mountains. The interiors maintain the Delano DNA of pale neutrality against dramatic scale — tufted white leather headboards rising nearly to ceiling height, geometric-patterned carpets in dove grey, chrome side tables, and floor-to-ceiling glass framing panoramic Strip views that do the decorative work no object could match. The rooftop terrace restaurant, visible in the images with its mix of olive and teal bistro chairs against the gold-mirrored facade, deploys the same restrained palette against one of the more arresting urban backdrops in American hospitality. At ground level, the pool deck is dressed in pale travertine and powder-blue umbrellas, the surrounding palm grove softening the hard geometry of the towers above.

"My husband and I stayed at The W Hotel in Las Vegas in February, and overall we had a wonderful experience. What really stood out is that the hotel feels more like a boutique property compared to the large casino resorts on the Strip. It’s calm and quiet, without the constant crowds, yet still just steps away from all the action. Our suite was spacious and very comfortable, with a separate living room and a king-size bedroom that made for a great night’s sleep. The bathroom was also large, with both a separate shower and bathtub. We loved our view of the Luxor Pyramid and the Strip. Housekeeping was excellent throughout our stay. We also spent an afternoon at the spa. The facilities are nice, with multiple hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms, and it made for a relaxing break. There were a couple of downsides. It was very difficult to reach the front desk or concierge from the room—calls went unanswered, and the hotel’s text/AI service didn’t work properly (responses did not address the requests we submitted). The spa layout is also confusing and maze-like; it took us about 20 minutes to find each other after being separated into different locker rooms. It may be challenging for guests with mobility issues. Additionally, the treatments (massage and pedicure) were just average. Overall, the hotel is beautiful, comfortable, and a great option if you prefer a quieter stay in Las Vegas. We would definitely return."

"Richard Mangel I stayed at The W March 5 March 8 . It was the best experience that I ever had . As I have been staying there sense it was The Hotel . This was all because Wilber Ladera the manager that was on duty that day .he was awesome and should be recognised and awarded for his outstanding work . And the same goes for Tracy Fox for her outstanding work and her help ."

"This MGM managed property is poor at best. Check in is a nightmare. You are often waiting in queues in the lobby for well over 30 minutes as there is not enough face to face staff to serve you. There are staff everywhere in hidden offices, and at other desks but they don't come and help during busy times. You are simply left to stand and wait for the few check in staff that are present. Once you finally get served, the check in staff are lovely and very helpful. Unfortunately due to the often longs delays experienced by people waiting to check in, they are often faced with very unhappy customers. There are self check in machines available if you are a MGM Rewards member but most people I saw had difficulties using them. The rooms are tired. They have not changed since the building was refreshed as The Delano Hotel in 2012, when it took over from the original THEhotel which opened in about 2003. It is certainly not luxury as advertised. We had a corner suite and had to move rooms twice in 3 days due to having no hot water at all in the room and the issue could not be solved by Hotel staff. When a maintenance man was finally arranged and attended (at 1.45am mind you) he showed us how to solve the issue. You simply have to turn the hot tap on full in the bath to get the hot water eventually running to the corner suites. Then you can have a hot shower. The mini bar fridge is not able to be used as it is stocked full of very expensive drinks and bills you if anything is removed as it has a weight sensor. While in our room, other guests who had just checked in opened the front door and came in with their luggage. They had also been checked in and allocated the same room we were already occupying and more concerningly, given keys and full access to our room. It was very awkward and completely unacceptable for the Hotel to allow this to occur. We were just lucky they were as horrified as us and this was after we had been in the room for 3 days! If you try and call anyone from the phone in your room, you will again be faced with extended delays and often I was on hold for over 30 minutes just to get the call answered. As we were there during late February/March, and the weather being very warm they only opened 1 pool for all guests of the W Hotel and Mandalay Bay making it impossible to get a sun bed and the pool area was extremely crowded. Overall, I would not stay here again even though the location is excellent if you are attending an event at Allegiant Stadium."

"We enjoyed our stay at the W Hotel Las Vegas. The suite was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Traveling with our son, we especially appreciated the separate bedroom , it gave us extra privacy and made the space feel much more functional for a family stay. The additional bathroom was also a nice bonus and made getting ready much easier. The bathtub was large, the beds were very comfortable, and overall the room felt well laid out and inviting. The location is a bit away from the main Strip, but that actually worked well for us. Since we were traveling with our son, we liked being removed from some of the busier, louder areas. It felt a little calmer while still being close enough to access everything when we wanted to. The only things we would have appreciated were a usable fridge and possibly a microwave for added convenience. We also found that the room temperature wouldn’t lower, so it stayed quite warm. Overall, we had a good experience and would consider staying again."
