PB hotel design editorial

Two curved towers sheathed in bronze-tinted glass rise from a landscape of waterfalls, mature pines, and flowering bougainvillea on the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip — a deliberate inversion of everything the Strip had represented before Steve Wynn commissioned architect DeRuyter Butler to design what became Wynn Las Vegas in 2005. The $2.7 billion property, followed by its companion tower Encore in 2008, together delivering over 4,700 rooms across 45 and 48 floors respectively, set a new register for the American casino resort by orienting the building away from the street rather than toward it, wrapping the exterior in curated gardens that feel closer to a Kyoto inn than a Nevada gaming floor. The interiors, largely directed by Roger Thomas of Wynn Design and Development, move between registers with considerable range. Guest rooms in the original tower pair crimson accent walls and gilded mirror frames with cream upholstery and floor-to-ceiling Strip views; rooms facing the golf course side run warmer, with honey-toned wood paneling, bas-relief wall art, and sienna-and-sand textiles that echo the desert mountains beyond. The pool terraces deploy striped canvas cabanas in turquoise and amber, their mediterranean formality landing somewhere between Riviera beach club and English garden party. Most recently, the Overlook Lounge has been transformed into a theatrical space of gilded bronze palm-tree light fixtures, swirling Art Deco carpets, and a lacquered concert grand — glamour calibrated to feel earned rather than performed.

"The hotel is very clean and the customer service was excellent. The price was reasonable but we stayed during off season. The hotel was very crowded but they had enough staff to handle it. The only strange thing was that we requested two extra flat sheets on the first night and they told us they do not provide these! I called another receptionist and they did provide it. I just thought that was the strangest thing. The pool is very small and crowded and therefore I did not use it. For such a large resort they should have more pools and bigger ones. We bought a small sandwich at the hotel for $23! It was not even good. Therefore, do not eat at the hotel. They are very pricy. I will stay again."

"Our day was very enjoyable. We had the pleasure of meeting Michael who was helping out at the front desk. He was an absolute gem. Made our stay all the worthwhile."

"Terrible experience at the Wynn Tower Suites. So I’ve stayed at the Wynn manu types it had very good experiences. This time I upgrade it to the tower suites unfortunately it was a terrible experience. First, the check in - the check in at the main counter (by accident , rather than the tower suites) was very poor because the gentleman at the check-in encounter was patronizing, and not helpful. For example, he didn’t explain any of the benefits of the tower suites.. we then went to the concierge at the Tower suites who also was very unhelpful. We then went to our room which looked exactly like the room that I had when I was not at the Tower suites. Ie zero aesthetic upgrade. I learned that there was no free coffee at the Tower suites lounge as I had expected. Also, people were permitted to smoke cigars in a certain. Are you at the Tower suites lounge, despite no physical demarcation, which was brutal for my allergies. When I attempted to check out the private pool area on the evening that we checked in the security almost jumped me instead of just letting me know that the pool area closed after a particular time. There was no turnover service as advertised. And there were dogs everywhere !! One fellow in the tower suites had 2 leonbergers (these dogs were beautiful but over 150 pounds each). I love dogs, but I have a severe allergy to dogs and my allergic asthma was horribly triggered. And I know that there would be dogs everywhere in the tower suites I would not have booked ! All in all, there was really no point for me to upgrade to the Tower suites as there was zero advantages and significant disadvantages such as the dogs (pugs, small dogs, leonbergers) at the cigar smoking, and again as mentioned, the room itself looked identical to the non-tower suite room, despite the additional price that I have paid, also it was loud. I could hear noise from the hallway as well as noise from this strip. Housecleaning was good (like usual), breakfast at the café or in the lounge was good but extremely expensive, the coffee and the tower suites lounge was absolutely terrible, (although the service at the bar was very good) . All in all, I returned with a poor sleep over a five day period, the terrorist suites pool was very nice, but there were a lot of really loud children in the pool on both days , the dogs and cigar smoking caused me to be extremely stuffy and wheezy and as mentioned, the check-in staff was very poor at the concierge was extremely unhelpful. In summary. Its my last stay at the Wynn!"

"Jasmine at check-in just overwhelmed our experience. She was so accommodating and made us feel like we were her most important people of her day! The Wynn tower suites cannot be exceeded on the strip… pool, separate entrance and class. You just feel like royalty and that you’re on another planet when you are here. Been staying here 20 years."

"We generally really love the quality of the Wynn. The hotel is kept very nice. I just have one grip that I’ve been meaning to tell the hotel for many years now. The so-called tablet remote in the room is the most annoying thing to use and should be definitely changed ASAP. It’s heavy it’s a bulky. It’s hard to see what is on the television with the guide because it doesn’t move right ever. It’s quite terrible for a remote for the television. I guess if it was just to order room service or look up restaurants, etc. then OK but as a remote for the television, it is ridiculous heavy and very annoying."
