PB hotel design editorial

Crystal has been Baccarat's medium since 1764, and when the French manufacture opened its first hotel in 2015, the entire building at 28 West 53rd Street in Midtown Manhattan became an extension of that proposition. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill with interiors by Tony Ingrao, the Baccarat Hotel New York rises 50 floors and contains 114 rooms and suites, its street-level facade a luminous wall of fluted glass rods that shimmer like an architectural chandelier — a direct translation of the brand's material identity into built form. An open flame set between the three darkened entrance portals, flanked by clipped boxwood topiaries in lacquered planters, gives the arrival sequence an almost ceremonial gravity. Inside, the Grand Salon stretches two floors beneath cascading Baccarat chandeliers, floor-to-ceiling silk drapery in champagne and blush framing display vitrines filled with crystal objects as if the lobby were simultaneously a museum gallery and a private house of extraordinary scale. The rooms shift between two distinct registers: lighter suites with dark mahogany four-poster beds, white panelled walls, and sheer linen curtains filtering 53rd Street light; and deeper, more nocturnal suites where book-matched macassar ebony panels surround polished chrome canopy frames and cowhide rugs anchor seating arrangements in chocolate leather. The Petit Salon bar, saturated in oxblood lacquer with black-and-white harlequin floors and red Baccarat chandelier drops overhead, channels a very particular idea of Parisian glamour transplanted, uncompromisingly, to Midtown.

"Will be back! Five star+ service and stunning, modern rooms with baccarat crystal accents, bar, glassware etc. Concierge was able to confirm hard to get day of reservations - we were impressed. Butler pressed wrinkled items at arrival (no charge). Beautiful Mercedes Maybach available for local drop offs at no cost. Gorgeous bar and salon. If you’re debating between here and the St Regis, explore no more - THIS is your place."

"We had an amazing time at the Baccarat Hotel in Midtown. From the moment you walk in, the space feels elegant, warm, and beautifully designed without being over the top. The service was excellent - attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Our room was spacious, spotless, and full of thoughtful luxury details. The bathroom alone felt like a mini spa. The location is perfect, steps from Fifth Avenue, MoMA, and Central Park, yet the hotel feels calm and private inside. Out trip was a refined luxury experience in NYC and Baccarat truly delivers."

"I arrived at Baccarat with one mission: hide from the world with room service and HGTV. Revolutionary, I know. My ambitions were genuinely modest—a bed, four walls, and zero human interaction. Basically the luxury hotel equivalent of going to Target in sweatpants. Then the concierge offered a complimentary upgrade. Here’s where everything changed. I walked through those doors into my room and had what can only be described as a spiritual experience in thread count. And let me be clear I’ve stayed at places. But this? This was different. I literally looked around and thought, “How do I transfer my mortgage here?” Everything was immaculate in that obsessive French way that makes you feel both pampered and slightly judged for existing. The room service arrived hot and plated like it was heading to a Michelin inspector. The bathroom was basically a marble sanctuary the kind where you contemplate your entire life’s purpose while soaking. The bedding felt like I was sleeping on a cloud that had somehow become thread count 1000+. But the glassware. The glassware. Every water glass, cocktail coupe, and juice vessel felt like holding history in your hands. It’s the kind of detail that makes you realize why other hotels exist to remind us how far we are from this. I loved every minute. I’m already booking my next stay. Baccarat: Because sometimes “self-care” means admitting you’ll never leave once you arrive."

"Baccarat NY delivered a truly exceptional staycation experience. The rooms are beautiful and incredibly spacious, with floor to ceiling windows and stunning marble bathrooms that feel both elegant and luxurious. The service was excellent from start to finish. The gym is huge, the pool is beautiful and the spa was one of the best experiences I’ve had. Best of all, the food was outstanding. I live just a few blocks away and booked a staycation here to prepare for an event while taking a little time to recharge, especially with a new baby at home. I wanted a place where I could truly relax, and Baccarat delivered exactly that. This is what 5 star service should feel like. From the glass bottled water to the beautiful tea kettle in the room, every detail felt thoughtful, refined and luxurious. I also really appreciated how promptly and graciously the housekeeping team responded when I got an insect bite overnight and immediately changed my room. Thank you to the entire team for the impeccable service and for creating such a polished, relaxing, and truly 5 star experience."
