PB hotel design editorial

Fitness culture has rarely attempted a hotel quite like this one. When Equinox Hotel Hudson Yards opened in 2019 as the gym brand's first foray into hospitality, it set itself within SOM-designed Tower C at 33 Hudson Yards — a 24-storey structure clad in the warm travertine-toned stone visible in the images, its vertical fins giving the facade a rhythm that distinguishes it from the glass curtain walls rising on every side. The building's position adjacent to Thomas Heatherwick's Vessel and the Shed places it at the symbolic center of what was, at the time, the largest private real estate development in American history. Interiors by global design studio Parts and Labor Design translate Equinox's performance-first philosophy into 212 rooms and suites where the visual language is deliberately athletic rather than conventionally plush — dark leather platform beds, wide-plank oak floors, upholstered wall panels in pale linen, and in the suites, dramatic book-matched marble fireplace surrounds paired with floor-to-ceiling Manhattan views. The rooftop bar shown here makes the boldest material statement: a monumental backbar clad in swirling onyx panels, backlit to reveal the full depth of the stone's patterning, anchors a space that frames the Hudson Yards skyline as its primary decoration. The outdoor pool terrace, carved between the hotel's travertine facade and Heatherwick's copper lattice, gives the property an unlikely urban resort quality.

Equinox Hotel Hudson Yards Reviews

"We had an incredible experience with the Equinox. I've been to MANY hotels for travel across a couple decades of my career and this will stand out as one of the best ever (if not the best). And I'm a tough critic! Naomi, Sharilyn, Richard, Jesus, the ENTIRE bell staff, - every single person I encountered was accommodating to our needs. We had plenty of non standard requests but with clear communication before and during, they were all incredibly enthusiastic. I would absolutely LOVE to stay there again and hope to in the future."

"I would not recommend this hotel. This is not a 5 star hotel experience. The room itself and amenities were fine, however, it was a very disappointing experience. I paid over $1,000 per night and they said they will not clean my room unless I request service because I paid a corporate rate. They also charged me for a meal at the restaurant when in fact I didn't even step foot in their restaurant. I had to spend time disputing that charge and they took that off the bill, however, when I checked the credit card bill, they charged an extra $100 for bar charges when I didn't even touch the bar. The service was terrible, the place is loud and the experience overall is definitely not 5 stars. There are too many good hotels in NYC -- don't waste your time here."

"My fiancé and I recently stayed at the Equinox Hotel Hudson Yards, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional as always! A special thank you to Nathan and also Nicole, the manager of Electric Lemon, for helping me plan the most beautiful rooftop birthday brunch to celebrate my fiancé. Every detail was thoughtfully executed, and the setting overlooking the city made the day feel incredibly special. What truly set this experience apart was the level of hospitality and genuine care we received. Upon arrival, we found champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries waiting in our room, which was such a thoughtful surprise. To make our stay even more memorable, the team gifted us a matching Tiffany & Co. cup set to celebrate our upcoming wedding, a gesture that completely touched our hearts. The service throughout our stay was warm, attentive, and personalized in a way that is increasingly rare. Nathan and Nicole went above and beyond to create a celebration we’ll never forget. If you’re looking for a luxury hotel experience in New York City that combines impeccable service with thoughtful personal touches, Equinox Hudson Yards is truly in a class of its own. We can’t wait to return."

"Worst experience this is a joke. They need to completely get new management from the Hotel managers to the gym managers."

"My stay at the Equinox Hotel was nothing short of exceptional, an experience that truly sets a new standard for luxury, wellness, and service. From the moment I arrived, the level of attention to detail was evident. The atmosphere is refined yet calming, perfectly aligned with a high-performance lifestyle. What really elevated the stay, however, was the outstanding service from the team. Nathan went above and beyond to ensure everything was seamless, anticipating needs before they even arose. His professionalism and genuine care made a lasting impression. Gui from the concierge team was equally remarkable, knowledgeable, attentive, and incredibly helpful in curating experiences that enhanced my stay. The spa was another highlight and deserves special mention. The treatment I received was simply incredible, deeply restorative, expertly delivered, and thoughtfully designed to leave you feeling completely reset. It’s clear that wellness is not just an offering here, but a core philosophy executed at the highest level. Every aspect of the hotel from the rooms to the amenities, reflects a commitment to excellence, comfort, and performance. This is more than just a place to stay; it’s a holistic experience that leaves you feeling better than when you arrived. I would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury stay that genuinely prioritizes wellbeing and impeccable service."
