Down in the Financial District, where lower Manhattan's street grid tightens around buildings that once housed the machinery of American commerce, a late-nineteenth-century brick structure on Gold Street was converted into Gild Hall — a Thompson Hotels property that draws its design identity directly from the neighborhood's mercantile past. The name itself signals the intent: this is a hotel that wants to feel like a private guild, a place where money and taste were once transacted in paneled rooms by candlelight. That atmosphere carries through every space visible in the images. The ground-floor bar works a checkerboard stone floor against dark burl-wood wall paneling and tufted oxblood leather banquettes, pendant fixtures ringed with industrial bulbs hanging from a coffered ceiling — the whole room evoking a downtown club that has been drinking seriously since 1890. The restaurant doubles down on the same vocabulary: amber-stained paneling, globe pendant lights wrapped in leather straps, striped velvet curtains dividing booths with a theatricality that avoids camp through sheer material confidence. Guest rooms pull the palette upward — saddle-brown leather headboards rising nearly to the ceiling, graphic trellis wallpaper in gold and cream, brass ring chandeliers, and dark-lacquered casework with burnished hardware. Across the property's 126 rooms, the effect is a consistent, considered masculinity that suits its address without feeling costumed.

"GILD HALL is an amazing hotel in downtown New York City. The rooms are well-appointed and gorgeous, the staff is friendly and helpful, the attached restaurant, Felice, has an elegant breakfast - we never had a chance to eat lunch or dinner there, but I bet it's wonderful. There's a bar in the lobby. The lobby is elegant and whimsical at the same time, because it's full of plush seating and also big wooden board games (chess, checkers, etc.) set out on the tables. Hardcover books line the stairwell to the second floor seating area. Our room was large, with a high ceiling, clean and well-appointed, and had a small fridge. The Thompson Suite is also gorgeous--it has its own living room, a little kitchen, and TWO bathrooms -- one of them has a tub. Honestly, this hotel is such a hidden gem, tucked away on narrow Gold Street, with an easy walk to the Calatrava train station and the 9/11 memorial and South Street Seaport and Wall Street and subways that'll get you anywhere in NYC. We reserved a block of rooms for a wedding party and some wedding guests, the couple stayed in the Thompson Suite, and we all loved it. I can't praise the place or the people enough."

"I had an amazing stay at Gild Hall, A Thompson Hotel by Hyatt in Lower Manhattan. The hotel is beautiful, stylish, and in an excellent location near the South Street Seaport. The front desk staff was friendly, welcoming, and provided outstanding customer service throughout my stay. They made me feel valued from the moment I arrived. The location is perfect. The subway station is only about two blocks away, making it easy to get around New York City. Wall Street is just a short three-block walk, and many restaurants, shops, and attractions are within walking distance. I also enjoyed the hotel’s restaurant and happy hour, which was a great way to unwind after exploring the city. As a Hyatt property, Gild Hall exceeded my expectations with its comfort, service, and convenience. I truly had a wonderful time and would definitely stay here again. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lower Manhattan. Five stars!"

"My children and I enjoyed our 1-night stay. Staff is incredibly friendly & helpful, a pure delight. We tried the lounge with our stay giving us access hors d’oeuvres 4-7PM and breakfast. Location was perfect as we wanted to walk to Central Park and see Times Square. Room on a lower floor was spacious and comfortable with minimal street noise. Overall a good value that I would go back for."
