"As I live in the neighborhood, I haven’t yet had the opportunity to stay at this special boutique hotel. I have dined at Casa Tua (the hotel’s excellent Mediterranean restaurant) and enjoyed meeting friends at The Lounge bar off the main lobby (a cozy, relaxed, and elegant gem on the Upper East Side—IYKYK!) I can easily speak to the lovely hotel staff who are, without exception, genuinely warm and welcoming. First impressions mean a lot. The doormen, whom I see often on our way to Central Park, are consistently kind, friendly, and helpful. Julio, Fernando, and the entire team are simply wonderful to all guests and neighbors, both two-legged and four. (Pictured here, my dog taking full advantage of the hospitality being heaped upon him!) I’d highly recommend The Surrey to friends and family visiting New York and looking for a top-notch boutique hotel experience, the most wonderful staff, and an excellent location (steps from Central Park, The Met, and Madison Avenue’s shopping and galleries)."

"Second stay at The Surrey, and it held its level. It is one of two hotels in New York we return to. We pulled up with a two-year-old and a ten-week-old. Julio Morales and his team were at the curb before we opened a door, taking the bags and making sure both children came out of the car safely. Most hotels take the luggage and leave you to it. That difference is the hotel. Check-in was seamless. We were walked to the room, the property was explained as we went, and we were left with what we needed. The crib was already made up. Treats were waiting for my daughter, and she was handed a stuffed animal at the desk, which she has carried ever since. The suite works from the same idea as The Corinthia in London: soft colors, soft finishes, a room that feels like home rather than a hotel. I have not slept better in this city. The care extends to the soaps and the jewelry tray beside the bed. The lobby is small by design, and better for it: welcoming, never cramped, which almost no hotel here manages. Breakfast and lunch were both excellent. We did not eat dinner in the hotel; the concierge booked a table that could take the children instead. I went down to the bar later, and it was as good as the rest. Ask for a suite, and tell them who is traveling with you. The rest takes care of itself."

"Julio is the sweetest! Every time I walk past the Surrey with my dog at the end of our Central Park walks, Julio has a big smile on his face and gives us the brightest welcome. My dog loves getting treats from Julio and always pulls out his best tricks. Julio and the other doormen are very kind and always make our day a little brighter. Thank you!"

"Julio Morales the door man welcomed me with open arms! You feel like arriving home to a quiet space in the upper east side when in NYC.! Like having your personal doorman that cares for you 🫶. The hotel is stunning, classy, simple, understated elegance. Upscale but unpretentious, perfect place to stay, walking distance to the park!!!. The staff is trained for attention to detail and good service. Delightful Spa! Beautiful people all over. Good energy overall. I was traveling alone, and found my safe place to be while in NYC."

"Our stay at The Surrey exceeded every expectation. The hotel is beautiful, impeccably maintained, and the rooms were among the cleanest we’ve ever experienced. Every request was met graciously, and we always felt genuinely cared for. What truly sets The Surrey apart, though, is its people. Everyone struck the perfect balance of being warm, personal, and attentive without ever feeling overbearing. I’d like to recognize in particular Margaret at the front desk and Stephen on the door staff as wonderful examples of the incredible hospitality we experienced. They went above and beyond to help us get settled after we arrived a bit frazzled following a multi-day flight cancellation. Margaret also helped secure a reservation for us at Casa Tua that evening, and when we returned to our room after venturing out for a few necessities, we found a delicious treat waiting for us—a thoughtful surprise that meant even more after a long and unexpected day. Wasim, the front desk supervisor on our final day, was also exceptional. Once we were finally able to get home, he was instrumental in helping us navigate a very early departure. He went out of his way to coordinate everything we needed, including arranging a 4:00 a.m. room service order so we could have breakfast before leaving for our flight. It’s that combination of exceptional service and genuine warmth that turns a beautiful hotel into one you can’t wait to return to. The Surrey has absolutely become that place for us, and we’re already looking forward to coming back."
