PB hotel design editorial

Few buildings on Broadway in Saratoga Springs carry as much civic weight as the five-story Italianate facade that has anchored the street since 1877. The Adelphi Hotel — shuttered for years, then painstakingly restored and reopened in 2017 under the ownership of Niki Leondakis and partners — is one of the last surviving grand Victorian hotels from the era when Saratoga was America's summer capital, its racecourse drawing Vanderbilts and gamblers in equal measure. The white-painted facade, with its arched second-floor loggia, bracketed cornice, and cast-iron detailing lit against the evening sky, presents as a period piece that has somehow stayed in the conversation. Inside, interior designer Stacy Glassgold of Glen & Company worked the tension between preservation and livability with a sharp eye. Guest rooms carry deep-toned damask wallcovering, dark-stained hardwood floors, and deep-buttoned sapphire velvet headboards set within arched plasterwork niches — the effect somewhere between a Hudson Valley manor and a well-edited European townhouse. The bar runs herringbone oak flooring beneath mahogany-panelled walls, red leather counter stools pulled to a black granite top, globe pendants throwing warm light across marble bistro tables and navy channel-back banquettes. A limestone courtyard behind the building handles outdoor dining with woven chevron bistro chairs and navy cushioned sofas. Across its 32 rooms and suites, the hotel earns its place as the most historically grounded address in upstate New York's most storied resort town.

The Adelphi Hotel Reviews

"The hotel room was terrific with an enormous bathroom with a separate room with the toilet and a great walk-in shower. It had double sinks with luscious towels and lots of counter space. The hand and body lotion was very nice. The room was well appointed with comfortable beds and very lovely bedding. The hotel provided a birthday cake for my sister-in-law who was having a special birthday and also in Morrissey’s Tavern, she was given a glass of champagne and a complimentary dessert. All of the hotel staff that we encountered were extremely friendly, helpful, and provided great customer service. We highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Saratoga Springs. It is also well located in the downtown area and easy to walk to restaurants and museums."

"From arrival to departure, I was treated like royalty! A stay at The Adelphi Hotel is one of the best experiences I’ve ever enjoyed. Elegant, relaxing, luxurious and perfect in every way from the initial inquiry phone call to the departure with an offer of water for the drive home. The staff is professional and personable— everyone exceeded my expectations!"

"The Adelphi hotel positively exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived. It does not get more centrally located than the Adelphi. Valet was quick and easy. At check in we were offered prosecco and escorted to our room. I had ordered birthday decorations for my husband and they were displayed wonderfully. We stayed in a balcony king room. The room is spacious with super high ceilings. The bathroom is massive with a deep bath tub and heated floors. You get a complimentary beverage fridge and little treats to enjoy. Netflix is easy to stream from your phone. The closets are how all hotel closets should be. You have his and hers and the ability to fit all your luggage, even a full size suitcase, in each. The game room is stunning and we made great use of it. The fitness center is so nice and big for a small hotel such as this. The equipment is also totally brand new. The locker rooms are immaculate white granite with gold finishes and they have a sauna. We are already looking forward to staying again."

"Outstanding staff and amenities. We had a wonderful stay and felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. The front desk staff were courteous, helpful, and professional. The bell staff went above and beyond — they were attentive, friendly, and even offered treats for our dogs, which was such a thoughtful touch. We were also pleasantly surprised by the complimentary mini fridge items, an exceptional and rare amenity that really stood out. Overall, a very welcoming and well-run hotel."
