PB hotel design editorial

At the edge of Waterfront Park where Vendue Range meets Charleston Harbor, a red-brick building of neo-Georgian persuasion anchors one of the city's most coveted corners — directly opposite the park's famous pineapple fountain, with water views stretching toward Fort Sumter. HarbourView Inn was purpose-built for hospitality rather than converted from a prior civic life, which gives it a structural confidence rare among Charleston's boutique properties: arched brick surrounds frame the upper windows from the inside out, exposed in the guest rooms as warm, sandy masonry that Charleston's historic building stock makes feel entirely native. The interiors carry a Lowcountry coastal register without leaning into the predictable palmetto-and-plaid routine. Throughout the 52 rooms and public spaces, the palette holds to powder blue, warm white, and grey-blue wool throws, with headboards upholstered in a teardrop-motif fabric that supplies just enough pattern against otherwise quiet walls. Cane-fronted armoires in chalky blue, plantation shutters on arched windows, and rattan seating place the rooms in a well-bred Southern beach-house tradition. The second-floor lobby lounge — furnished with a velvet sectional in cobalt, a carved limestone fireplace with ironwork grate, and a live-edge coffee table — introduces a slightly richer material note, the ceiling fan and antique-style harbor map on the wall keeping the atmosphere grounded rather than formal.

"Absolutely wonderful stay! Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The complimentary breakfasts, wine and cheese hours, cookies, candy dispensers, drink carts, and bottled water were the chefs kiss! Loved the location! Close to everything and felt very safe. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone."

"Highly recommend HarbourView Inn for its location, cleanliness and professionalism of all staff. Had a king balconette room that overlooked harbor which was absolutely beautiful. Breakfast is ordered each evening and delivered to location and time of choice each morning. There is wine and cheese reception each afternoon at 5:00 followed by milk and fresh baked cookies at 9:00 each evening. Comfortable lounge area offers coffees, teas, waters, ice tea 24/7. We also enjoyed the rooftop terrace which was very relaxing. Lots of restaurants, shopping, site-seeing within walking distance so no car is needed. We taxied from airport then ubered back to airport. Cost about the same. Enjoyed carriage tour which provided a wealth of history plus dining at Magnolias and Griffins which were both around the corner. A wonderful place to stay!"

"This was my first visit to the Harbour View Inn and I can’t recommend it enough! We were greeted by Kyle the valet who helped us with our luggage and welcomed us to the Inn. From the first moment you step into the Inn with its winding staircase and comfortable living room atmosphere you are hooked. We were greeted by a very funny and helpful front desk person Doug who went out of his way to get us the perfect room. Kaylee made sure we understood all of the amenities available in the Inn and was always there to answer questions. Wine and cheese were served every night at 5:00PM and the most delicious chocolate chip cookies at 7:00 made by Noah and served with ice cold milk! As coffee junkies we were happy with their coffee bar available all day long along with an assortment of flavored juices. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. My husband and I highly recommend it. You won’t be sorry!"

"We had such a wonderful stay at HarbourView Inn. The location couldn't have been better. We were able to walk to so many of Charleston's best restaurants, shops, and waterfront spots, which meant we parked the car and enjoyed the city on foot. Our room was beautiful, comfortable, and incredibly quiet despite overlooking the waterfront fountain with lots of people. The bed was one of those that makes you want to hit snooze just one more time, and we loved starting the morning with breakfast in bed while reading an actual newspaper. It felt like such a simple luxury. The room also included a Dohm white noise machine that we LOVED! One of our favorite parts of the stay was all of the thoughtful extras. The afternoon wine and cheese reception was a nice way to unwind after exploring the city, and ending the evening with fresh milk and cookies was a fun touch that made the experience feel even more personal. The breakfast was delivered to our room, and the second morning, to the rooftop terrace- we loved both experiences! Let's not forget 24/7 m&ms and Skittles available on a sidebar in the main reception area! We felt like kids in the best way! They also have bikes available to pedal around Charleston, see many of the historic locations, and enjoy the seabreeze while riding. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. You can tell they care about making guests feel at home. If you're looking for a hotel that's within walking distance of Charleston's historic district, offers thoughtful amenities, and makes it easy to slow down and enjoy the city, HarbourView Inn is an easy recommendation. We'd happily stay here again!"
