PB hotel design editorial

Fourteen stories of stepped Art Deco brickwork rising above Fourth Avenue North place Holston House Nashville within one of downtown's most recognizable pre-war commercial towers — the former Noel Hotel, built in 1930, whose limestone base with its ornamental medallions and fluted pilasters remains intact at street level, framing an entrance that still carries the civic confidence of Depression-era Nashville. The conversion brought the building back as a 243-room hotel, and the rooftop addition visible in the images — housing a pool deck with glass balustrades that frame AT&T's Batman Building and the surrounding downtown skyline — was grafted onto the historic structure without disturbing the tower's original stepped crown. Inside, the interior approach works in a warm mid-century register: dark-stained hardwood floors, walnut-toned millwork on the credenzas and wardrobe surrounds, upholstered linen headboards with leather-trimmed accents, and pendant fixtures in amber glass and brushed brass. The guest rooms are furnished with a restrained confidence — patterned drapery panels in an abstract botanical print, desk chairs in cognac leather, pale blue area rugs grounding the palette. The ground-floor restaurant carries terrazzo flooring and a long bar counter lined with saddle-tan stools, Edison-style pendants hung at varied heights against a walnut-panelled ceiling, the whole composition leaning closer to a well-appointed Nashville diner of the 1950s than anything generically boutique.

"This hotel is dialed - it's unique and has incredible history but is extremly well maintained and there are so many special touches. Record players you can bring to your room, signature drinks served complimentary in the lobby daily, incredible staff, clean, spacious bathrooms, great pool on the top deck. I loved it and will be back!!"

"Great location a block off Broadway near the big church. Food in both venues was very good. Chicken nuggets in the bourbon glaze were amazing as was the breakfast cinnamon roll."

"Our stay at the Holston House Nashville was absolutely amazing! The hotel has the perfect mix of modern luxury and Nashville charm. The rooms were beautifully designed, clean, comfortable, and had such a stylish boutique feel. The location was unbeatable — close enough to Broadway and all the excitement, but still peaceful and relaxing at night. The staff truly made the experience exceptional. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive from check-in to check-out. The rooftop pool and bar were one of our favorite parts of the stay, with amazing views of the city and such a fun atmosphere. If you’re looking for a hotel in Nashville that feels upscale, trendy, and convenient all at once, Holston House is definitely worth it. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Nashville!"

"I had a wonderful stay. The building itself was beautiful, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. What made the experience even more special was seeing an Instagram influencer in the lobby, handcrafting hats for guests. It was a fantastic touch, blending cultural arts and crafts into the experience. The hat maker, who seemed to be from Barcelona, made it all feel truly unique."
