PB hotel design editorial

Music has always been the organizing principle of Nashville's West End corridor, and when the Hutton Hotel arrived on West End Avenue in 2009, it made that relationship structural rather than decorative. The twelve-storey tower, clad in white panel facades with deep-set bronze-framed windows that step back in a rhythm suggesting mid-century commercial modernism updated for the 2000s, houses 247 rooms across a program that treats live performance as its genuine core rather than a lifestyle amenity bolted on after the fact. The interiors carry two registers simultaneously. Guest rooms deploy a confident contemporary palette — charcoal upholstered platform beds, rich wood-grain wall panels, abstract carpets in electric blue and graphite, and amber pendant lights that warm the grey tonal scheme — while the lower levels shift into something altogether more atmospheric. The live music venue, called WLVN, presents the full apparatus of a serious performance space: a proper stage framed by deep burgundy velvet curtains, chandelier lighting, a painted mural wall in vivid geometric Art Deco patterning, and lounge seating arranged with the layered informality of a private club. The adjacent bar carries exposed ductwork overhead, polished concrete floors, and leather bar stools in green and rust, the overall effect closer to a late-night recording studio than a hotel amenity. Nashville's identity is worn without self-consciousness here.

"Was a lovely hotel and staff seemed great! Room was ok had a comfy bed but there was no guide on the tv no fridge to use unless you paid $30 which isn’t on there website I found this out on another review. Water on the floors was warm. There was work going on in the lifts which we wasn’t told when checking in waiting up to 10/15 mins for a lift sometimes. Also it’s a $100 dollars a night for a holding fee for any damages in room etc just to be aware as we didn’t know this until we arrived."

"If you really care about your guests, put a damn microwave on each floor by the ice machine, if not in each room. I was there for a conference, and my wife and baby stayed in the room and struggled every day warming food. I requested a manager in the lobby, and he said there’s none on the property. Also, remove all your beverages so guests can actually use it for their own stuff. Front desk folks were horrible because they didn’t inform us about amenities at the club, including live music on the second floor. Also, I stayed 5 nights and only had housekeeping service 2 days. I requested service twice at the front desk, and they promised to send someone, but no one came. The phone in my room never worked."

"Dear reader, As a person that takes the time to read reviews, I apologize for not making this review an easy "great stay" review for you to read. I actually hope that you appreciate the fact this review was elicited by my stay and careful consideration was used in writing this to make sure I dont give the wrong impressions. As a Nashville local, my standards for staying in my own city are exceptionally high. I am not looking for the surface-level glitz or the neon-soaked "tourist" version of this town. Beyond broadway I know Nashville has a lot to offer and I appreciate the fact that the Hutton is a Nashville heirloom that reminds me, as a local, that i can still find AMAZING hospitality catered specifically for someone who will appreciate Nashville for what it is through the seasons. The Hutton Hotel is an absolute historical gem, but you only realize the depth of that once you engage with the staff. Their appreciation for the history of this property and the legacy of Evelyn is infectious. Learning about Evelyn (absolute GANGSTER by the way)—and her personal art collection transformed my stay from a simple birthday staycation for my wife into a curated experience. It felt less like staying at a hotel and more like staying "backstage Nashville." The Analog, arguably one of the best stages in the city, host some great artists that stay at the hotel. So when walking through the hotel when not in the lobby, you never know who you will run into. I want to give a big shout out to Jada, Natalia, JR, Taylor, Jared, Ethan, Rivena and William. DO NOT HESITATE to ask any of them to give you a fun fact. As a local staying here and learning about the hotel, some fun facts and Evelyn, will make you feel proud to be a local. If you ever engage with anyone these people please tell them EMMANUEL sent you haha. The restaurant, Evalyn's isn't just a hotel amenity.. It is a flag ship destination on its own. So feel free to make some reservations even if you arent stayi g here. Staying at the Hutton turned an incredible high quality restaurant (Evelyn's) into my personal dining room when we want breakfast lunch or dinner. We didnt need to leave the hotel. When I asked the staff who they felt their demographic was, they said "locals." As a local myself, I felt that immediately. This is a stay for people who have been here before and want to cut through the noise that Nashville puts out front for the tourists. To the team at the Hutton: thank you for treating a neighbor like a VIP. You’ve successfully ensured that my local dollar will be a recurring one. I will certainly be telling my Nashville community that there ARE places in the city that want to give luxury experiences to locals. People from all over the country vacation in our town-- WHY CANT WE!? And if you are a tourist wondering where the locals would go to get a good experience, I hope this review has served you too."

"My husband surprised me for my birthday with a staycation at the Hutton Hotel in downtown Nashville. Everyone from the front desk, to Mimi’s (bar), to Evelyn’s (restaurant) has been beyond personable and friendly. We were able to meet Johnathan, the general manager, who gave us a tour of the hotel, recording studios, and other cool amenities. Natalia, Ethan, Jared, William, Dan, and Taylor also made our experience so unforgettable and made me feel very special and celebrated on my birthday. Decor is beautiful and well kept. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We were able to learn a lot about the Hutton’s history, as well as the history of Evelyn’s - the awesome restaurant on site. I wish we’re were able to stay much longer, but definitely will be coming back to stay again and again!"

"The hotel was a perfect place from the manic vibe of the city. Downtown Nashville had some great bars and music venues. Our room was spacious and had a good view. Really liked the robe and slippers. It also had tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge and Dyson hairdryer. The gym was a short walk but easily found and had good facilities too. Jaye on the front desk was warm and welcoming, helpful too. The concierge guys were really lovely too (sorry I forgot their names, Graham maybe)."
