PB hotel design editorial

Planted at the edge of Dallas's Arts District where Flora Street meets the city's cultural corridor, the building that houses HALL Arts Hotel was conceived as a physical extension of the arts campus that Craig and Kathryn Hall have assembled over decades — a privately funded collection numbering more than 3,000 works that spills from outdoor plazas into every corridor and guest room. Designed by architect HKS and opened in 2019, the eleven-story structure presents a facade of vertically striated aluminum panels lit from within at dusk, the warm glow giving the building the quality of a lantern among the glass towers pressing in on either side. A yellow Mark di Suvero sculpture in the foreground underscores the property's relationship to the broader Arts District streetscape. Inside, the 183 rooms carry that commitment without theatrical effort — large-format photographic prints and original works hang above upholstered platform beds and pale timber millwork, the palette held to cream, warm grey, and bleached oak so the art claims the walls rather than competing with the furniture. The restaurant space deploys the same restraint: a linen-toned room with wire-drawn pendant clusters overhead and a monumental expressionist landscape painting commanding the length of one wall. On the mid-level pool terrace, white resin loungers sit among planted sage and salvia beds edged by teak decking — a considered green interruption in a neighborhood that otherwise gives every square foot to concrete and glass.

"Amazing experience! There’s a car service that will take you anywhere within a given radius (thank you, Carlos, for your courtesy, advice on the city, and professionalism). The front desk and valet staff were kind and outgoing (Ava, Marissa and Jose made me feel at home). The housekeeping staff is top tier and the rooms were immaculate (Ximena took good care of me). I would definitely come back."

"My wife and I had a wonderful stay at HALL Arts Hotel. From the valet team to the front desk and service staff, everyone we encountered was welcoming, professional, and attentive. The hotel itself is beautiful, exceptionally clean, fresh, and very well maintained. The ambiance is elegant and relaxing, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. We were in Dallas for a wedding and to visit family, so we spent quite a bit of time away from the hotel. My wife enjoyed it so much that she has already insisted we come back soon to stay at the hotel, relax, and enjoy the property without making any other plans. I told her I completely agree as long as she pays for that trip! HALL Arts has officially become our hotel of choice whenever we visit Dallas. We sincerely hope they continue to maintain, and even improve upon, the excellent standard we experienced. We will definitely be back."

"I stayed at Hall Arts for the weekend, and the ambience was lovely. The staff was very friendly, and the rooms were clean. I was helped specifically by Sharon, who was so kind and accommodating when I arrived well before check-in. I mentioned that my birthday was coming up in a couple of days, and she sweetly sent up a handwritten birthday card, wine, and macarons. That was incredibly sweet and thoughtful of her, and she made sure the room was up to my standards, which it was. I would 100% recommend this stay."
