PB hotel design editorial

Anheuser-Busch heir Adolphus Busch commissioned the building in 1912, hiring architect Tom Barnett to raise what would become the grandest hotel in Texas — a seventeen-story Beaux-Arts tower in rusticated red brick that still anchors Commerce Street in downtown Dallas more than a century later. The Adolphus, as it has always been known, wears its age with confidence: the facade carries an elaborate crown of French Renaissance ornament, cartouches and carved figures clustered beneath a copper-green cornice, the upper floors pulling away from the street grid with a sculptural authority that no amount of surrounding glass curtain-wall construction has managed to diminish. A 2016 renovation by interior designer Rottet Studio brought the 407 rooms into the present without severing their connection to the building's origins. Guest rooms pair cream leather headboards in deep button-quilted panels with walnut-framed nightstands and linen drapery printed in a tonal geometric, the palette running from warm sand to slate blue — livable rather than theatrical. The bar is where the building's history asserts itself most forcefully: lacquered millwork in near-black, a gilded ceiling catching candlelight, and a carved antique back-bar cabinet that functions as the room's animating object, its baroque ornament in deliberate conversation with the Victorian bones of the structure around it. The rooftop pool terrace, contemporary and spare, offers a clean counterpoint — travertine decking, in-pool loungers, and a stacked-stone water feature lit warm against the Dallas skyline at dusk.

"Overnight business trip in Dallas. The Adolphus is a wonderful hotel that I have stayed at several times. Raheema was very nice at check in and check out and very graciously upgraded my room. The Adolphus treats their guests like VIPs."

"Booked a junior king suite on 20th floor absolutely loved the vibes of this historic hotel. Dan the relations manager gave us a quick tour of the hotel and shared with us its rich history! What a fun story to hear about and I'm so thankful he took time to tell it to us. They do tours most days and I highly recommend it if you enjoy history! The hotel is named after its founder Adolphus Busch as in the founder of anheuser busch, and budweiser. All of the staff is attentive and very accommodating, felt like a $500++ a night experience (but much less than that). The beds/pillows were very comfortable and amenities excellent. Valet is pricey at$65 per night (tip extra) but it's downtown so that's expected. Will definitely return here for another date night and need to do high tea at the french room. It's very beautiful! Breakfast is delicious, about $30 per plate with 20% gratuity added. We will 100% be returning asap. We are locals and love staying at unique hotels and this for the bill perfectly. Again special shout out to Dan! He's the man!!!"

"Great hotel. We did a corner king room. It is a historic hotel so don’t expect modern luxuries everywhere. We loved the location to everything in Dallas, the local rodeo bar was great. We did the summer package that included the valet and drinks that the bar and it was well worth it! Didn’t go to the pool so we can’t speak to that. The history and vibe was beautiful!"
