PB hotel design editorial

Four Byron Nelson Championship tournaments were played against the backdrop of this warm buff-brick tower before the resort even considered reinventing itself. Sitting above the Tournament Players Course at Las Colinas in Irving, the hotel's eight-story main structure — its arched fenestration and rounded corner pavilions giving the massing a vaguely Romanesque civic gravity — has anchored the Four Seasons Resort and Spa Las Colinas since 1989, operating now as The Las Colinas Resort Dallas following its transition away from Four Seasons management. The low-slung golf lodge at the building's base, with its copper-green hipped roofs stepping down toward the fairways and a stone-edged waterfall cascading into the pond below, establishes the leisurely register that the interiors carry through. Guest rooms divide neatly between two modes: fairway-facing accommodations with warm cherry-toned furniture, leather campaign benches at the foot of beds, and sliding wood-shuttered doors opening onto terraces overlooking the course, and the quieter city-view rooms fitted in darker espresso cabinetry with louvered plantation shutters filtering the North Texas light. The bar and lounge space is the property's most atmospheric interior — double-height arched windows mirroring the exterior's brick geometry, aged Chesterfield sofas grouped on a worn Persian rug, dark-stained wide-plank floors, and a large-format rock photography print anchoring the wall above. At dusk, the pool terrace shifts register entirely: lantern lighting along the stepped stone cascade, fire tables beside the water, and mature live oaks closing the whole composition in.

"Ritz-Carlton Las Colinas is the perfect example of a former great flag (Four Seasons) being taken to the next level with immaculate service and luxurious, reimagined accommodations. My best friend and I chose to spend our friendanniversary here, and boy, howdy, are we glad we did. Breakdown below of the stay/accomidations: Room: We had the Club Premiere Tower Suite and WOW! Just Wow. The room was fantastic, with touches of classic modern elegance, giant dual bathrooms, and sweeping views of the pool/grounds from our oversized balcony (it was basically another room in itself!) All the touches you have grown accustomed to at RC are available. Toiletries(shaving/shower cap/etc), robes, diptyque(Consistently refilled every day!), slippers, and as much water as you need(It's hot in August!) Gym (The Nelson): It's a short warm-up walk from the main tower, but it is HUGE. The staff is very friendly and will help you with any questions you may have. An array of weights, cardio machines, and plenty of space to stretch. The one miss was that neither Peloton bike was functioning. As someone who travels frequently, I know this can happen, and unfortunately it was not fixed during my three-day stay. This was brought to the staff's attention after my first day. I understand, though, that limited bandwidth from engineering can cause delays. Beyond that? No complaints! Knife Italian: Dave! What a joy what we had you not one night but two. The entire staff really knows how to make your night feel special. The food, drinks, wine list, and service are beyond top-notch. We didn't realize we had stayed WELL over our welcome at the restaurant catching up (three of us), and we couldn't believe the kindness they showed us while we had a wonderful dinner. Try the Corn & Mushrooms, A5 Wagyu, and Focaccia bread. YUM! Pool: One of the highlights of the property. Very clean, complimentary sunscreen, and the pool snakes throughout the complex. On our first day, we had a Deluxe cabana to relax and have refuge from the Texas sun. Angel, our server, was a dream. He was so attentive and friendly, and he really made our first day at the pool special. The second day, Thomas was equally as sweet and gave us great tips while in Dallas. Try the chips and three dips- amazing! Club(Staff): Out of the 13 Ritz-Carlton Clubs I've done, this had to be one of the best. Before our stay, Santiago answered all my questions and set up our special stay for success. Each day, he was so kind to ask about our day and remembered our beverage preferences at breakfast. Beyond some very special touches he provided throughout our stay, he has a great heart and provided the service that Ritz-Carlton is famously known for. You rarely find someone like him who genuinely cares about the guest experience from pre-arrival, arrival, and post-stay. Big Kudos to him. Also to mention: Addison and Elliott are also fantastic representatives for the brand. So sweet and attentive. Club(Food/Beverage/Overall Space): The breakfast? Wowza! That bacon(as Elliott said one morning) definitely tasted like it was made with love. Every presentation was fantastic. The cleanliness was immaculate. The drink service/wine selection was fantastic. My BFF loves iced coffees, and Santiago would do a masterful job making her one each morning. So much space is provided for club guests to relax and really take in some beautiful sunsets. Comfortable seating throughout; you'll have too many choices! The upcharge is well worth it for the amazing touches the club provides throughout your stay. Room Service: Susan(I believe), who got my nightly chicken tenders delivered, was a dream. Open 24/7, every dish we ordered was as amazing as the quality you would get at restaurants. Items came piping hot, with beautiful presentation, and were quickly swept away once done. Housekeeping: The heartbeat of the property! These people kept our room looking beautiful, with wonderful turndown service, and such friendly smiles. Lumping them into this, I had a shirt that needed to be pressed right away before dinner. Without question, they picked up the two shirts and within an hour, bam, both were done! Returned and made my outfit look so sharp. Overall Staff: Beyond genuine. The bell staff, front desk, and everyone we interacted with were nothing but gracious. And not robotic at all. They have pride in providing a truly amazing experience for every guest. Service Recovery: This is where Ritz-Carlton Las Colinas shines. After some issues on our last day, Ngaa (Manager) listened to my concerns with genuine compassion and understanding. She went above and beyond to make it right without me asking for anything in particular. I've learned in my travels that leveling with someone on a human level instead of escalating shows you want the property to shine and not be a Karen(LOL!) Ngaa is a perfect example, like Santiago, who shows the true spirit of what the Ritz-Carlton is all about. Listen - Not every day is going to be perfect, but it's the way we can turn it around and make it special :-). Grounds/Public Spaces: Perfect. Clean. Timeless. The transformation from Four Seasons to Ritz-Carlton looks seamless. The blend of classic elegance with a southern elegant twist echoes throughout the property. Ritz-Carlton Las Colinas from start to finish is a perfect example of a property on its way to becoming a Forbes Five Diamond resort. Continued excellence in service, F&B, Club, and leisure activities will ensure this will be locked in sooner rather than later. Until next time, you all made our stay so special and memorable."

"Just checked in. The wardrobe is missing a rod? The drapes have been replaced by plantation shutters that do zero to block sound or light. Forget a restful evening. All I hear is traffic and some dog barking."

"We signed up for the Martinis and Mahjong event. They put us in the restaurant, with the wrong size table, incomplete set and the teacher did not show up. The food was minimal, we had to order off the menu. They delivered 3 mini tinis..at one time..which meant they were warm, by the time we drank them. We talked to the hostess on duty, who did nothing. Wrote two emails to GM, and received no response. Very disappointing, at $125 per person. Not what you expect from a Ritz Carlton."

"Resort-style winding pool is the standout—feels like a true escape. Knife Italian delivers on quality, and The Nelson Club adds real value with golf, aerial yoga, and reformer Pilates. Service is polished but genuine, and the location between Arlington and downtown Dallas (easy access to DFW and Love Field) makes it a smart base for major events like the World Cup."
